Called Gabe about my leaking water heater. Was able to speak with him quickly about a replacement…read moregas 40 gal. tank. He had me go to Lowes (online) and order the replacement unit, so I wasn't paying a markup from the installer. He picked up the unit from Lowes and just charged for the install. The advantage in this is you can chose the unit you want by quality and price. Units with longer warranties will cost more, probable between 6 to 12 years, so you get to decide what best for you without a installer charging a big markup. I was able to was my military discount for 10 % off. Another advantage is you are the one purchasing the unit. If there is a problem with the unit in the future you can go back to the manufacturer or Lowes (who I have found to be very good at backing up their sales). If your installer provides the unit he may not be in business in 9 to 10 years. Install was completed quickly. I had three other quotes before calling Gabe. Working with One Shot was 20% less then the next lowest bid and half the price of the highest bid. Will use them again for any plumbing issues.

Initially Gerry and his team were very responsive. He came out to see the site, asked good questions and provided a couple things to consider. We agreed to delay the work a week or so but in the meantime he'd get me a quote and get me on the schedule. That was three weeks ago, no quote, no schedule, no response to my follow ups. Now I'm in a bind. He seems like a competent person, likely does good work, just ghosted me after committing. Disappointing.

So good things first about Juan: 1. when I needed to change…read morethe scope of the project, from installing two cameras including a doorbell ($800), to installing one camera ($250), to installing a camera with cable buried underground ($1,000), he adjusted his price accordingly and let me know. 2. He communicated when he would be arriving and how he took payment (Zelle and cash). 3. He locked up and returned the tools I lent him for the job. Challenging things about Juan. 1. He cut corners. He informed me that $200 of the work was for parts and I believed he was putting conduit around the cable prior to placing it underground. Upon inspection of the cable, I noticed that it was placed rather shallowly. I contacted Juan and said I had a concern given if I dig in the area or aerate in the area, I will severe the cable. He responded that "Hey sorry I just got back too you I'm on another job but yea I wouldn't dig around where we put the wire ". I told him that code requires it to be at least 6 inches. He has not responded either by phone, text or yelp. As you can tell from the photos, the wire is not even in a straight line so I would have to avoid a significant area in digging considering how zig-zaggy it is. In addition, the conduit that sticks out of the ground is not flush and sticks out. It is evident he does not value doing things well. 2. He was messy. He left sealant spray on a workout mat. I get it is a mistake but at least own up to it or try to clean it up. I have asked him to return to correct the cabling but he is completely unresponsive. As I found this business via Yelp, I am seeking a partial refund via Yelp Guaranteed as I will now be fixing the issue and burying the cables deeper with conduit.
