Okay very unfortunate I'm giving this bad of a review however today was unacceptable. I spoke to Darren over the phone and I was left with the most unhelpful customer service ever. He was so inconsiderate of my requests over the phone and very minimal with telling me solutions to my issue. They updated their app and my login was repeatedly "incorrect" over and over and I told him how it's not my information incorrect because before I had no trouble EVER logging in to use the app. Darren was very dry throughout THE WHOLE CALL. There were even minutes going by of silence on his end. So disappointed in the service I received. Shame on this representative! Learn how to do your job! read more

Amazing assistance with elderly concerns. I was there on Monday Aug 4 2025, at the end of the business day, to assist an elderly friend who was the victim of fraud. ***Yessenia*** was patient, kind and knowledgeable, and assisted us ably in making sure that the issue was resolved and her account defended against future incidents. She took as much time as we needed, even when it took us late in the day, with grace and compassion. Our fullest gratitude for the kindness and support. Then, on Friday Aug 8, **Emma** and her supervisor (?) [a kind woman who came out of the glass cubicle off side near the teller counter], assisted us with getting a document needed to enable us to get her signed up for Social Security online, which removed a huge mental weight from her. I worked with Joshua for opening up my account with Orange County credit union. I've literally never had a credit card before never taken out a loan and he was able to explain how credit unions work my options available as I have fairly poor credit and am trying to purchase a car but have to get a loan to cover the rest. He was able to open me an account and go over what was effecting my credit and how I can build around it while helping me figure out what my best options were for financing the rest of my car loan since I was in a bad spot and looking for any help. I don't have any examples or education of financial literacy so it was nice to finally go into a bank that felt like they were there to help me as a customer and not just some wallet! This review is based on my teller and overall credit union experience. When it comes traditional banking (going into the bank) I still am an irl person at heart. Was greeted immediately when I entered the CU. That's always a bonus when it comes to customer service. Emma was super helpful with my experience today. Needed to take a cashiers check from funds in one account. Free of charge and super helpful in educating me that members are only allowed to take $5k in cash out unless call s in ahead of time. She supported me with an ongoing back office issue on my account and was able to successfully remove and explain the origins of the notification as well. Thanked me for my patience while she made the appropriate steps on her end. I was referred by a business partner to Joshua Lopez. I came Saturday morning around 1030am, check in and waited while Josh was finishing up with a client. He said I was his 3rd client today and everyone requested to see him. The branch wasn't busy at all so, it shows that his work ethic and service is top tier. I'm glad I waited instead of going with another member service associate. He was quick, attentive, thorough and detailed of trying to establish a relationship with the banks. I have been with OCCU headquartered in Santa Ana for over 8 years. I was never entirely please with their customer service but things have gotten progressively worse each year. This month, March 2026, they changed their online format which has been a nightmare. 1st, I was required give all of my pri ate info online and forced to give a new password due to their internal change before I could do online banking. Then I proceeded to do a normal, outside transfer to an outside bank that had been set up all along. However, I find out that bank is no longer on the list of places now linked to out side transfers. I already had all of this set up based on my needs years ago. Auto withdrawal come out of both banks and I fund them by making these transfers multiple times a month. Frustrated, I called the customer service 888 number and am told it is 40 plus minute wait (no wonder if other customers are having this problem.) THEN, IT HANGS UP ON ME. The customer service line did this repeatedly! I am now forced to go to a bank personally on Monday to try to fix this and then close out all accounts. Now I have to cancel and resubmit info for all auto pay to another institution. This is such a terrible c/u. I'm going to look into Long Beach Schools c/u or a regular bank. The last time I actually did speak with a rep ("Paniz") she said "like" every other word and kept sniffing on the phone. Zero confidence with OCCU. read more

This staff are professional and conduct themselves in a manner that makes me glad to be a customer. In the 29 years I have been banking here, I can only recall one person who I found difficult. She has not been there since the one time I had the negative experience, so I suspect other people had similar problems and helped her end her career there. That, or maybe she joined politics. Since Covid hit, there is a structural separation at the teller station. While the barrier is important to decrease the spread of the virus, it also effectively interferes with my capacity to hear the person on the other side. OCCU have music playing at all times and it is so loud that I have to request the tellers to repeat themselves. It's annoying. The one chick I had a problem with was the one who refused to turn the music down to accommodate me. Every single associate has temporarily lowered the music in order to communicate with me so I can go on my merry way. So dig this, no Music I can get my transaction done in five minutes; with Music, it's gonna take 10 to 15 minutes. The Orange County credit Union in LB needs to turn the music down. I have never had this experience at the Santa Ana or Fountain Valley location. Shout out to Isaac and Lee. Both of these young professionals make me feel welcome and confident. They may not know me, but I feel like I know them, like I know my sons friends. You know? read more

I am currently with Kinecta Credit Union. Been with them for 2 years, and because I am still establishing a relationship with them, I wasn't able to get a $3K loan, only a $2K loan. So I researched banks with loan options, and Orange County Credit Union popped up! I showed up in person and did the application with Yessenia, and wow! Best bank ever!! Not only did I qualified, I got the loan right away! The process was smooth, and Yessenia Mendoza was so helpful and amazing! I am a new member with them now. The interests rates are even better with OCCU than Kinecta bank too!
