    I have been a Wescom member for 25 years. When fraud has taken my money, they were able to help like no other bank would. Only bank I trust.

My 86-year-old mother has been a member of SchoolsFirst since 2011 and each time she has visited this branch, all the staff have been very kind and accommodating. She has had to replace her debit card a few times and her original checking account was compromised, so they were able to help her cancel the old account and set up a new one with a new account number. The latest visit was with Bolivar, one of the credit union onsite bankers. My mother and I came to visit because her online banking account somehow got hacked and it reduced the functionality. Bolivar said the online account somehow had view only status so it was changed back to be fully functional again. He also suggested that the user name and password be changed, so we were able to get that done as well, using the credit union's computer. We had a very productive visit, and since my mother has some mobility issues, Bolivar was kind enough to help her walk to the front door before we left. Talk about going above and beyond! We will always have SchoolsFirst as our primary financial institution because we get 5-star service with every visit. Once again, if you qualify for membership, RUN don't walk, to the nearest branch and open an account.

    I received a promotion to open a new bank account with F&M. I knew of the bank but had never had…read morean account there as I generally love my credit union, but I opened an accout for the promotion. Due to COVID-19 banking hours and many other things were thrown out of whack and I had to call to ask about the promotion deadline and details. I was surprised when the person I spoke to (Lamonte Lee) said he would research my question and call me back. He did call me back, like each week for 3 weeks until the promotion was paid into my account. When I finally went into the bank I met Mr. Lee and got his card - he was actually Vice President and Sr. Client Services Manager. I never thought someone higher up the corporate ladder would be taking the time to manage my small account, which I opened just for the promotion. Anyway, as far as banks go this is a great one. The bank app is pretty easy to use also. I never thought I would recommend a bank, but I recommend this one.

    On 2/11/2025 I went into FMB to close my checking account I had with them, because my wife and I…read moredecided that we didn't need this account any longer. As soon as I walked I got immediately into line and I noticed a particular banker just staring at me. At first I thought maybe he was just scouting the line out and seeing how many people were in line, however he kept looking at me. There can be several reasons why some looks at you multiple times, however as an employee of a business it can be unsettling to a customer to do this. I was next in line and this employee finished with the customer they were helping and called me next. I noticed that someone else was with him and as I walked up I glanced at both name tags (Roberto Villanueva) and (Melissa Vice President) of which I confirmed at a later date were the names of the employees who helped me. I advised them that I was closing my checking account and they asked me what was the reason, which is a normal question, I explained to them I didn't need the account anymore. I'm not sure if they took offense with that, however it was weird that Mr. Villanueva has been staring at me more than once when I got into line. After completing my account being closed I asked them for a receipt or something that showed this transactions (closed the checking account and withdrew all the funds) and they told me no we can't do that and I would have to go online to get it. I asked how long will I have access and their answer was a while longer. At this time Melissa was just smiling at me (almost like she was laughing at me) and Mr. Villanueva had a serious look on me like I was someone he was disgusted with. I was taken aback because I never heard of closing an account and not being able to receive a withdrawal slip or having some sort of print out showing the account was closed or both. I just shook my head and started left, because what could I do. As I was walking out of the door I got on my cell phone and as I was on the phone I just happen to turn around just as I was pushing the door open and Mr. Villanueva was staring at me intently and then suddenly pretended to look away. It was odd because he made me feel like I had done something wrong for closing my account. On 3/25/2025 I decided to go back to the same Farmers and Merchant and ask a different banker why I couldn't get a receipt or printout. Nadine, who I believe was an account specialist/banker, helped me and I do not want this review to reflect on her for immediately helping me because she was very kind and professional. However, Nadine looked puzzled as to why I wasn't given some sort of receipt or printout showing my account was closed along with the withdrawal. I couldn't believe that it took no more than a minute or two to bring up my account and print out an Individual Activity Statement which shows my entire history here. I have no idea why Mr. Villanueva and VP Melissa seemingly went out of their way to make such an easy transaction like that difficult for me. Again, thank you very much to Nadine, but to the VP Melissa and Villanueva I don't know what I did to them for them to treat me that way and that's why I'm rating this not good because of this incident with them!

Despite having thousands of dollars in my account and my valid drivers license I was not allowed access to my funds in any amount. I was literally stared down by the teller when I looked confused. It was extremely uncomfortable. I spoke to the manager who drilled me with numerous questions about my personal affairs. "Why do you need the money?" "Why don't you use a credit card instead of cash?" "Why would you shop at a store that only takes cash?" "Are you visiting town?" "What's your employment?" "Why the sudden need for cash? You rarely use this account anyway." After answering all questions politely I asked if this cleared the problem. "Nope," the manager said "there's nothing I can do. It's impossible." She claimed my drivers license wouldn't "scan," which is odd that I've never heard this before. In fact, the VA scanned it the day before so I knew this manager was lying. I asked if we could scan it again. "No!" she yelled. I've never felt so uncomfortable. Three days later I am still trying to fathom how a bank behaves this way. I've filled complaints with the state of California and with US Bank both of whom clearly told me this is illegal/against policy. As an attorney I feel it's my duty to pursue this both to warn others and make sure a light is exposed on this jaw dropping illegal and unprofessional behavior. Update: I went to a different branch. Same ID, same monetary request, cash issued, professional easy transaction.

I contacted US Bank Corp and the card issuer to request a new card since the original gift amount was never used. Under California law, it is unlawful to sell a gift certificate to a purchaser that contains an expiration date. See Cal. Civ. Code § 1749.5. Simply put, a gift certificate sold without an expiration date is valid until redeemed or replaced. Cal. Civ. Code § 1749.5(b). This is the response US Bancorp gave me, with no reimbursement.     I asked my son who just turned adult to open an account here since they are offering $400 incentive…read morelast 2/10/2026 with 4 checks from Dept of Treasury.And they just closed it 2/20/26 so we called their customer service who is so hard to understand and not a great help either.And we received a letter from chase stating that they are closing the acct because they're protecting it against fraud,we also have to go to SS and get a proof that the 4 checks that we deposited really is a real check that Dept of Treasury sent us and then we have to go back to chase again and present it.Chase said that their fraud dept will investigate it and will send the check back,and nothing happened,we have to call and went back there again yesterday 3/2/2026 and same thing,it's a waste of time because they just keep running around in circles and said he'll call this morning around 930, so we just waited and we have to call almost 11 am and he promised again to call my son back around 4 pm today.This is so disappointing! I've observed a decline in their services over the years, prompting me to gradually shift my funds to School's First Credit Union. The only reason I maintained my account was out of nostalgia, because my grandfather, who had a career in aerospace, has passed away. I visited this branch after being assured over the phone that any location could assist me in resolving an account that had been written off, allowing me to restore it to good standing. While the staff member I interacted with was kind, the limited assistance available was frustrating. When I attempted to reach the contact center again, a representative disconnected the call while I was trying to clarify whether another branch could accept my payment, which would save me a long drive. It's disappointing to witness the decline of this credit union and to experience the lack of empathy throughout the organization, including the lending department, which seems to have no support for members who may be facing temporary financial difficulties. I've worked for many financial institutions over a 10-year span, and I know that they tend to value the wealthy clients/customers, so I'm not surprised they were interested in assisting me or providing above-and-beyond service. However, I've always hated this culture and believe every member should be appreciated and valued, especially if they're loyal to the organization for over 20 years.
