Dr. Paraiso is an excellent dentist. He explains everything! The dental work I received and continue to receive from Dr. Paraiso is always excellent. Dental procedures are explained very well and each procedure comfortably done and completed! I have felt safe, comfortable, relaxed(!) satisfied before, during and after each one of my dental procedures! Dr. Paraiso's staff and Carla are all professional, knowledgeable, and kind. My questions are always very well answered. Most amazing is, my dental procedures including dental cleaning have been thorough and my most comfortably done. After posting my Oracare Dental review, the owner, Joseph Paraiso, called. He acknowledged he "completely forgot" the critical -- to me -- question I'd asked (the basis of my 9/24 review). As I noted, this happened at just my second visit to his office. I was still evaluating, and assumed Joseph was on his best behavior, and maybe still evaluating ME as a potential client. In his call, Joseph brought up new items requiring this review update. He said my 9/24 review "hurt his feelings", & he wanted me to "remove the review". This seemed odd because he had just noted its accuracy -- though I recognize that choosing hurt feelings can override one's critical thinking. I post negative reviews to give responsible owners an opportunity to make changes to improve service. In his 20-minute call, Joseph made no mention of making any changes. In fact, it appears his tactic for dealing with poor service is to try to remove reviews that mention his poor service. As business owner, that is certainly his right. And I can imagine in some of his other phone calls, Joseph has been successful in having poor-service reviews deleted. Joseph also said that his office sells x-rays to clients as a profit source. Entirely legitimate. For 15 years, I've gone yearly to Foothill College Dental Clinic for x-rays and cleaning. I then bring those x-rays to my two, additional cleanings that year at my current dentist. Joseph said that because I had brought my own x-rays, he was only breaking even on my $295 (as of 5/24) cleaning, but kept me as a client, hoping I'd refer others. Had he spoken up, I would've replied: "This is my 1st visit. I don't know if I'd refer you, and even if I wanted to, I can't promise I'd have people to refer, and even if I did, I can't guarantee they'd respond." I do my best to only make promises I can keep. I can understand Joseph's disappointment that I wasn't a money-making project. Again, had he told me his business-model when I first showed up with my x-rays, I would've respectfully gone elsewhere -- and I eventually did because of his other poor communication. read more

This review is well overdue! I have been going to Dr.Paraiso's office in Mountain View for the last 7 years. He is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. Here's a glimpse of a typical biannual cleaning appointment: 1. You get 100% Dr. Paraiso There are no other dentists at this office. You really get 100% attention from Dr. Paraiso during your visit. He does your entire cleaning every time, not an assistant or junior denist. There are no "other" dentists to delegate your appointment to. 2. He is honest & ethical He takes digital photos and X-rays of your mouth, annually. He pulls the images up immediately on a screen right next to you. He will show you the pictures and explain anything he sees (both the good and the bad) by teaching you what you both are looking at. You don't have to take his word for it; you are able to see for yourself! 3. Your mouth, your choice He explains what options you have and how severe any issues are. He will tell you if he would recommend the procedure now or if you can wait awhile. When he finds something he does not personally specialize in, he'll refer you to someone he trusts (mouth surgeons, etc). 4. The staff! :) Carla and Cristal have been fantastic! I have been going to Dr. P for the last few years, and his team is awesome. I just finished an appointment for some replacement of old bonding, and he and his team have literally sculpted my smile into a sweet work of art ;D I have had other various procedures done by Dr. P and team, and every time we go over it through images, demos, and data driven strategies. Dr. P and his team have proven their credibility countless times, and never get tired of explaining the techniques and materials used. Lastly, I really appreciate Dr. P and his team's focus towards their work. There has been a couple occasions that they have worked through their lunch break (i.e. almost an hour over estimated time!) to extend an extra level of quality and attention to detail. My mother and friend were both searching for a new dentist, and I knew exactly who to recommend- Dr. P and team. They have been happily visiting him for the last year or so. Ok, seriously now. If you're in the Bay Area and need an awesome dentist, the way to go is with Dr. Joseph Paraiso of Oracare Dental (www.oracaredental.com). I still can't believe that just the other day, my tooth was cracked in a couple of places and I was having severe pain with severe earache. I went to Dr. Joseph; he quickly assessed the problem, and then went through a two-hour root canal. Sounds horrific right? Well, that's the coolest part. I went through the procedure with hardly any pain or discomfort. And I'm not new to root canal. The ones I had before with another dentist were all hell! I'm now completely pain free and most importantly, he's able to save my tooth. If I went to another dentist that I know, the solution would have been extraction and implant that would've probably cost me a gazillion dollars. So make a visit. Tell him I sent you. Dr. Paraiso has been my dentist since about 2003. He is really great and one of the best dentists I have ever had. As others have said he is very friendly and easy to talk to about work that needs to be done. He is extremely well trained in both general dentistry and state of the art cosmetic items. I have never had any issues with his work. I really do not think you will find anyone better in the Bay Area. I moved over one hour away to the East Bay years ago but still make the twice a year trip as he is that good! Started out my visit with digital x-rays while I watched a nature documentary (so awesome) Then I watched an educational video about periodontal disease (which you do NOT want to mess with - my dad has it) I had a thorough exam with pictures and I felt like I was actually being taught and involved in any next steps in my care. I and several of my friends have been going to Dr Paraiso for years. We love his friendly staff that is eager to help. They are always on top of things. I had issues with my insurance where my employer had incorrect data on me. The staff notified me of the situation weeks in advance of my appointment so that it could be correct in time for my visit. Dr Paraiso takes the time to explain each procedure and is aware of any discomfort you may be experiencing. In examinations, he uses new technologies to aid in determine the need for filling or to keep an eye on for future visits. They have a TV in each examining room to take your mind off your procedure. I was a little iffy at first because I never had any luck with dentist but I'm glad I went because Dr P and his staff are wonderful. I am always comfortable with my visit and the Dr makes it as painless as possible. I'm a bad patient - I am always months behind on my appointments, do not floss as often as I should - but I am so glad that I do take care of myself enough to see Dr. Paraiso. He has taken care of my teeth through two pregnancies - taking care of them with minimal fuss (ie no x-rays, injections, etc). On my first visit to Dr. Paraiso, he told me I had numerous teeth with cavities that I needed to get filled immediately, and he wanted to schedule a filling appointment with me (including handing me an estimate showing how many hundreds of dollars each tooth cost). I was skeptical and held off on the appointment, and I ended up visiting another dentist to get a second opinion. The second dentist told me he didn't see any teeth that required filling, so I didn't end up getting any. Now two years later, I still haven't had any problems, so I'm going to go ahead and say the second dentist was right. read more

Dr. Paraiso is demeaning and condescending. He insisted on doing a filling for a tooth based on something on an x-ray. He showed me the x-ray and mocked me when I couldn't see what he could see. I reluctantly agreed to get the filling. When he asked the staff to schedule it, they suggested an amount of time necessary and he wanted a shorter amount of time. The appointment arrived and he ended up running short on time, so short that whenever he asked the staff to hand him something, he would bark "come on, come on, hurry up" at them during the few seconds it took them to retrieve the tool. The filling was uncomfortable and I've had to return to get it adjusted. He has continued to treat me with disrespect when I've returned. I cannot recommend this dentist for his work or his demeanor. read more
