I knew my dental insurance wouldn't cover much of my needed extraction/implant so I visited two oral surgeons to understand their approach and proposed fees so that I could make an informed decision. Sort of like getting 2 quotes from different plumbers. Dr Kim was: 1. literally 2x the price (thousands of dollars different) for the same procedure. 2. belittled my questions with tremendous arrogance. He actually responded to my question of how the procedure options might unfold with: "Are you an Oral Surgeon? Well I am for 30 years. Patients don't determine care". 3. Pushed hard to take a $350 panoramic xray during the consult. I demurred. I did pay his $175 consult fee for the conversation. That was the cost of my education. My other choice for oral surgeon "won my business" by explaining everything to the level of my questions, and significantly less expensive - and I'm happy with the outcome. In no way am I questioning Dr. Kim's capabilities or competence.... I'm only saying, as consumers we have a choice, so if you can talk to 2 or more oral surgeons you may be more comfortable seeing and then choosing from 2 different approaches - and potentially save some money in the process. I am writing a review for three wisdom teeth (all remaining) extraction happened around 1 year ago. I must say that I am 100% satisfied with the result. My wisdom teeth are impacted and I am in my 30+. I was concerned about hurting my nerves and slow recovery. However, Dr. Kim made very clear explanation about my situation, statistics of get nerve damaged on similar patients in the literature, and chances of recovery if a bad case happened. Before consultation with Dr. Kim, I had consulted my general dentist, who can not answer these questions well. So finally, I decided to proceed with Dr. Kim. Everything went very well. And I experienced very little pain and a quick recovery. I did my research on other reviews. The low ratings are mostly related to billing. Which I cannot disagree. So expect to pay a little more than the initial estimate. If you care about the surgery outcome more than saving money. Dr. Kim is the perfect choice. BTW Dr. Kim's final bill is still less than my general dentist's estimate, so the price is not that bad. read more

Review for wisdom teeth extraction (all 4 at once): I got all four of my wisdom teeth extracted in one go, roughly 3 months ago, with Dr. Kim and team. I did have a consultation with another oral surgeon prior to finding Dr. Kim, and I just did not get the best vibes from this other practice (explanations felt rushed and staff were not the kindest). Dr. Kim and staff were my second consultation and the experience felt like a breath of fresh air. The staff was friendly, explained everything step by step, weren't rushing in and out of rooms, gave a lot of supplemental material, etc. The actual surgery went super well -- I did opt for general anesthesia, which the doctor heavily recommended for ease of experience. Yes it will be more expensive, but I decided I didn't really want to actively listen to the drilling noises. I went to sleep, woke up, and was completely done. Was definitely a little loopy and unbalanced but nothing like those social media videos lol My recovery was better than I could have imagined. I didn't need to take a single painkiller during the entire recovery process. They provided a little headwrap headband with soft ice packs and I followed all the post-op instructions, and that was about it. "Worst" day was day 3, and even then it was just heightened soreness and stiffness. Would definitely recommend Dr. Kim and team for this procedure. If you are looking for a Dental Surgeon who cares only about his vanity and is limited in his ability to deal with complicated cases - please feel free to avail his service and hear him constantly harass you with all the future pain you will go through and how he has nothing to do. I had enough after the biopsy where he poked so hard that my gum bled for days and went to LGFS where the doctor worked with me to see how we can minimize the long term damage and maximize the healing. For a regular wisdom teeth extraction or whitening, sure Dr Kim is good. But anything complicated, you are better off with a more caring doctor. read more

Phenomenal team of professionals! I came here after I broke a tooth 2 weeks before I was to leave for Hawaii. Dr. Kim's office accommodated me and was able to get me in prior to my vacation. From start to finish they took the upmost care of me. I was able to go to sleep for the extraction and bone graft procedure since I have major dental anxiety. I came back for the implant placement and stayed awake for the procedure. Needless to say my anxiety was through the roof. Dr. Kim has such an amazing personality and is so down to earth! He made me feel as comfortable as possible and talked me through the entire procedure. His surgical assistants and his entire team were incredible! Even though Dr. Kim's office is "Out of Network" with my dental insurance, I wanted to see him regardless because he's the only oral surgeon that I trust! The best thing about having a PPO insurance is that I am free to see whoever I want regardless of network status. Plus my insurance paid out more than expected! I can't express how important it is to have these types of procedures done right the first time! I highly recommend Dr. Kim and his team of professionals. This review is long overdue. I will start from the beginning - I first saw Dr. Kim in 2012 for some temporary anchorage devices (these are small screws that go into your bone right behind your very back bottom teeth. Then I had rubber bands looped around these anchors and my upper canines, to move the canines back. The whole point of moving the canines back was to make room for 2 implants - lateral incisors. I was born missing my lateral incisors - these are the 2 teeth on either side of your 2 very front teeth...! After there was enough space for implants, my orthodontist removed my braces and I went back to Dr. Kim for the implants. After they healed, I had the crowns made by my dentist (the crowns are the fake teeth that make you beautiful). I am so grateful for Dr. Kim and his staff!!!! Most people have no idea what it's like missing teeth all their lives. I take excellent care of my teeth, I get 3 cleanings per year and I have never even had a cavity, but missing teeth is not cool.. Dr. Kim and my regular dentist, Dr. Cassara changed that for me!!!! What they do is such an amazing combination of art and science!!! When I floss around my implants, I seem to get little shreds of floss stuck between the implants and the gums. Let me be clear - this is nobody's fault. Dr. Kim and I have determined that I am a little too vigorous when I floss and I have been using the wrong kind of floss. I have gone back to Dr. Kim when this has occurred and he and his staff have taken excellent care of me!!!!!!! Their office is also state of the art and they have the most amazing equipment - a panoramic x ray machine, a centrifuge, etc... Also, Dr. Kim uses a special technique to minimize healing time after he operates - I believe it's called Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection and it is amazing! My wounds have always healed super fast and clean!!!! DR. KIM AND HIS STAFF ARE SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!!! - second-to-none. I always refer friends here. I needed a tooth removed pre-Covid times but then Covid happened and everything got delayed due to closures. As soon as offices began to open I attempted to make an appointment but most offices were asking for a referral which I did not have and my own dentist was closed so was not available to provide a referral. I reached out to Joseph and team for an appointment and explained my situation. They gave me an appointment for an evaluation. I had my evaluation and 3 weeks later had my tooth removed. Smooth process, straight forward, no BS, tooth removed and everyone was happy. They even followed up with a phone call the next day which I was happy with since I was a bit drowsy after the procedure and couldn't remember what we had discussed. This guy is a crook and so is his practice. I do not recommend this guy. get this I ask for 3 implants, the only one installed is an immediate implant which was botched and some office worker comes in and gives me a diagnosis that its ok and then Dr kim comes in and corrects her and then I get to have a removal etc (pay again half price) (about 700 dollars). Riddle me this why does a receptionist give XRAY discussions with patients? The other problem is their shady billing, get this: I put down 6000 dollars in first visit and they want me to pay for 3900 dollars for the work I described above. they sent me to collections even though they have 6000 dollars as credit and I told them last year in december I was through with their shady business practices. so they want 3900 on top of the 6000 I put down on the first visit and I dont have any implants in my mouth and they send me to collections.. how is that for shady business practices. Don't get me started on lies they say about insurance not covering the work..... RECAPP: * 6000 dollar good faith deposit (credit for the contract) MINUS * 3900 dollar bill in collections (credit damage action fraudulent I might add) EQUALS * 2100 Dr kim stole from me he seems to think that I need to pay the whole 11000 dollar contract without any completed work on his part.... is that not a crook or what? No I DO NOT recommend this place, its a RIPPOFF. I have seen Dr. Kim and can't give him a high enough rating. My experiences have led me back to the office for care now more than once. From the initial call to the discharge, I felt that I received the best care and they have earned my loyalty. I had an emergency extraction on Thursday. While working on my tooth, Dr. Kim thanked my tooth for its 50-plus years of service to my mouth, digestion, etc. He was able to help me remain calm by informing me at each step and assuring me that all was well. I was shocked to get to my oral surgery appointment to be be asked to pay the entirety of the bill - a whopping $6000 - before any work was done. In addition, the office hadn't bothered tp call my insurance company because 'insurance doesn't pay for this.' I was having a medical procedure under general anesthesia and insurance wasn't paying? Apparently the office was wrong, as I found out when I called my dental insurance when I got home. In addition, the office gave me only one procedure code to check on, so I would think that everything would be out-of-pocket. I also walked up using a cane and was made to stand during this entire interrogation. I left, furious, and I will not go back. This review is quite late (we're talking four years here) but here goes: My wisdom teeth had just popped out but were impaired and growing diagonally, impacting the back molars. The normal oral surgeon that my dentist refers his patients to was not available so he refered me to Dr. Kim. Dr. Kim is one of the youngest surgeons I have ever seen (not related to the review, but damnnnnn, he is really handsome; if he weren't married, I'd encourage ladies to get on that...sorry, really immature, but it had to be said XD ) so he was really easy and personable to talk to. I am not sure if the staff has changed based on what I have read in the other reviews, but they were extremely helpful with my situation in figuring out how to maximize my insurance and how to take care of my teeth after the surgery. I was referred about 8 months ago. Dr Kim is soooo good! He's nice to me during the first consultation. I was in severe pain due to my wisdom teeth. And I was lucky and got the surgery set up for the next day!! So 8 months later, today it just came to my mind and I wanna leave a review here!!! I feel really lucky that I did my wisdom tooth surgery here!!!! After the surgery, I went home and fell asleep. The next few days, I didn't even need Advil cause I didn't feel any noticeable pain except dizziness due to the anesthesia. I think it has 3 possible reasons: 1. The wound is mall. Dr Kim is really really good at surgery so he made the wounds as small as possible when taking out the teeth underlying. I think this is the most likely reason. 2. Post surgery dizziness covered my feeling of pain. 3. I have a less reactive body than others. Honestly I didn't even feel anything every time I got my Covid vaccine including the booster. Oh also, the nurse (or assistant or resident doctor, not sure) is really nice toooo!! She's so patient!!!! The billing department lady is a nice person too. We came here on a referral for me and my sisters wisdom teeth. We are overweight but we thought this wouldn't matter. He proceeds to dig into my sister telling us the only reason we had problems was that we were fat. He preached that we should become vegan and dragged an assistant in and forced her to tell a story about how she lost weight. I left at this point because I was about to verbally murder this man. After a bit my family left because he was only wanting to loudly call us fat instead of do his job. We were all extremely upset by his unprofessional behavior. Just to clarify, this is not a review about the Doctor I am sure the doctor is fine. It's about my experience dealing with them. I was in extreme pain due to my wisdom teeth. I called them in April and asked them if they are open. They said, it depends on the situation. After hearing about my pain, they gave me an appointment for consultation 1 month out in May. They also told me that they will reach out to me if there are any changes to the appointment. So I waited for a month and dealt with my pain using pain killers. There was no call from them so i assumed my appointment is confirmed. A day before my appointment, i called them to see if I need to take any extra precautions before coming in. They said, oh we cancelled your appointment due to covid. They didn't even care to inform me about this. They said they will call me with new appointment in June. No call again. So I reached out in June, and again same excuse. They will call me back with new dates. I waited for another week to hear from the. No call again. Finally, I gave up and went to some other dentist to get my teeth extracted. I would expect some empathy towards patients from a medical organisation. I was extremely disappointed. Dr. Joseph Kim is such a nice guy. He did a great job taking my wisdom teeth out, my face wasn't swollen and my mouth didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I was really nervous because I've never been put to sleep before but Dr. Kim and his wonderful staff made me feel at ease. I would recommend him to anyone! He also gave me really good advice for going to college. He's an all around great doctor who will make you feel safe and comfortable. I also only had to take tylenol for the pain. I didn't need the stronger prescription that was prescribed to me, this shows how skillful he is as I wasn't in excruciating pain. read more
