I have been seeing several doctors first with dr diamanté and then dr head and my first visit was good and since then it has been terrible. They gave me prescriptions for an eye condition that seriously needs to be treated or I would lose eye sight and yet they never bother to work with the insurance to obtain approval for that drug forcing me to see another doctor so I can get treated. Last time they gave me a new prescription (I have stigmatism) that I could not wear. When I look at a square object it becomes so distorted that it is almost a diamond. What a surprise when they took my name and told me someone would be with me. I was called shortly after I sat down and to my delight 3 boxes were brought out! I had my pick of any pair I wanted! Funny how they have a big sign right when you walk up to the office staff desk that says aggressive behavior will not be tolerated..... the office staff is so passive aggressive. It's not even funny. They love to pick arguments with the customer. It's absolutely hysterical.... Office is clean lotta options. Dr head is pretty nice. She put me on a different contact lens brand for some reason. I've always used Bausch and Lomb for 30 years and she put me on some other brand. I have no idea why and it's awful and they always charge my Blue Cross insurance instead of my VSP insurance for some reason so I would say all in all Dr is good office staff stinks. read more

Unfortunately, despite once having a positive impression of this business when I purchased 2 pairs of glasses here several years ago, presently I would never allow anyone I know or remotely care about to come here for their eyes. Perhaps the doctors are good, but many potential customers would never know given the receptionist's contempt on the phone. I hope she stops trying to project her inferiority complex on patients to her employer's detriment. I was baffled, and rather amused, when she told me I wouldn't be called if an appointment became available - I was instructed to walk in to the office every single day, hoping that maybe I would have the honor of giving them my money and being seen by a doctor. I now understand the stigma this business has amongst many Johnston residents. If a higher-up here wants to keep their business afloat, I would highly recommend staff training on basic manners, and more importantly, office policies that benefit the patients. I was also told that since I missed appointments in July of 2018, I would have to pay a $45 penalty before a doctor would see me if I was lucky enough to get a walk-in appointment. This begs the question of whether I was informed of such a policy before making the appointment 4 years and 10 months ago. Otherwise, asking me for the fee is unlawful. I recently had two cataracts removed by Dr. Giulio Diamante. His knowledge and competency are compared to no one. He is an excellent ophthalmologist and a very knowledgable eye surgeon. I was a tad anxious about the surgery. I met with Dr. Diamante prior to the surgery and he assured me that everything would be done in a precise manner and he reassured me that I would be treated with care, concern and compassion. He was absolutely correct. I arrived at the annouced time and I went down to his state of the art surgical center. This is located inside Dr. Diamante's building. The nurses will extremely helpful and addressed any concerns that I had. A few minutes later, Dr. Diamante came to speak with me prior to the imminent surgery. He explained in detail what the procedure entailed and what the process would be once I was in the OR. He is a calming force. I was very relieved and knew that all is well. I had a few questions and Dr. Giulio Diamante fully explained his answered all of my concerns. The sugery went well. Dr. Diamante was right by my side and talked to me during this procedure. Dr. Diamante made me relax and comfortable. The surgery does not take long. The nurses in the OR were so nice and helpful. They, too, explained to me what was the surgery would entail. Afterwards, Dr. Diamante again, came to speak with me about the post-operative instruction. Dr. Diamante is one of the best ophthalmologist in the State. If you are considering cataract surgery, there is no other place I would go than Dr. Diamante and his team at OPTX. Dr. Diamante, to me, is the most trusted, competent, knowledgable Ophthalmologist who takes his practice seriously and to the next level! He is the best! My family has been going here for many years, but recently decided enough was enough. The doctors are great, but the office staff is mostly rude and busy on their cell phones, so they ignore patients standing in front of them. The optician department is staffed by a people that think they are doing you a bid favor to talk to you. Maybe if you come in wearing designer jeans and lots of bling, you get better service. They mostly look like prima donnas. Our biggest complaint is that it is not uncommon to spend a couple of hours in the office waiting for the docs. They overbook and one time my wife and six other patients all had 11:00 am appts with the same doc. Really!!! read more

By far, the BEST place for all of your eye needs! I was referred here by a friend and they did not disappoint! First of all, the place is beautiful! I was greeted as soon as I entered. I love how the showroom is setup! They have made it so even if you don't need prescription eyewear, you can still shop their amazing selection of designer sunglasses! I did have an eye exam and it was by far the most thorough exam I've ever experienced. They have state of the art equipment and the entire experience was outstanding. Dr. Head gets 5 stars as she's very informative, patient and friendly, but the coordination with the optical side is not NEW customer friendly. I'd never needed glasses before but my sight is getting slightly worse and she recommended I get a pair for computer work. After the appointment I was told to wait in the lobby for an optician to assist me with glasses selection. I didn't have time for the unexpected 'second' appointment so I asked for my prescription to go so I could review my options when i had time. Now that I have time to review, I noticed I was given the prescription but not my pupillary distance, which is apparently NOT something included in the myriad tests I take each annual exam AND would cost additional money to take the measurement?!. The tentative but helpful sales person on the phone explained to me that it was easy to do myself and I could follow instructions on any website that sells eyewear. the sales person's tone sounded like they empathized that this was not a helpful or value filled option for me...so, why not change that?! This 'disconnection' between the physicians and the eyewear sales side leaves anyone who goes to OPTX for medical check ups in the lurch if they decide against the high retails of their showroom. Doesn't feel right to expose an issue for a patient but not offer ALL the information needed to help solve the problem...unless you buy from them directly. Makes for a lousy experience for patients needing glasses for the first time...PARTICULARLY during COVID where successive visits for a 'simple' measurement should be minimized. read more

Do not pay in full!!! They ordered incorrect order and refused to refund. This is absurd! I've taken in the half hour wait times and 30-60 minute wait EVERY TIME. Very poor customer service with the optician. I had the eye exam which was very thorough but when I gave the optician the frame to install the lenses and paid for it the lady told me it should be no more than two weeks. I waited for more than 4 weeks and nobody called and let me know whether it's ready for pick Up. I called today and was told that the lenses did not pass the inspection and have to be remade. If I could give less than 1 star it would be more appropriate. The office staff has the worst customer care and has no level of professionalism. My husband and I had an appointment today for which it was confirmed by the office and of course we were reminded that there would be a $45 fee for not giving a 24 hr notice for cancellation. We drove to the Johnston office---a 45 minute drive one way---and upon registering we were notified that the doctor was not in today and they apologized for not calling us to reschedule and they admitted that there was no notation of the office trying to contact us. This is a long trip for us with the expense of gas and taking time off from work for which I am not getting reimbursed I inquired about the $45 fee should be given to us since they expect us to pay if we cancel. The manager said it was not possible since he claims we were notified of the appointment, although the secretary said there was no note in their system. He blatantly lied to our face and only offered to reschedule. We will NEVER go back to this office. We had a few other issues with them in the past but we tried to be understanding but we are completely done with this office!!!!! read more

Never ever did I think I would review an optical shop, especially as highly as I will rate OPTX. They are simply the best. Picture a brand new, state of the art building, with blue awnings and large windows that are reminiscent of a shop you would see on Rodeo Drive. Now, plop that building in Johnston - you have OPTX. Building aside, customer service is key here. Everyone who consults (and yes, they really are consultants versus sales people) is friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and truly values your business. They know each of their clients by name, and if they don't it's likely because they are new and are in the process of learning about their new customer. And, oh, the glasses! It's a frame Graceland. Designer frames galore: everything from Chanel to Tiffany to Maui Jim to Cartier. You name it, they have it. I have been a client at OPTX now for about 3 years. In that time I've purchased 4 pairs of eyeglasses and 1 pair of Rx sunglasses, and have referred several people as well. It honestly doesn't get any better! read more

I am a customer of 3 years here. I showed up on time for 3:00 PM appointment. 20 minutes later they call me in and do there typical 5 min screen just to get your money. Now comes the wait. I have perfect vision and no issues. I left at 4:45. 1 hr and 45 minutes for a routine eye annual exam isn't getting it done. My very first time was the same waiting experience and I thought maybe it was just a bad day for them. 2nd time was an hour. Their tactic is simple. Serve you in 20-30 minutes briefly then comes the waiting game and boy let me tell you there will be a looooong wait. They serve way too many people bottom line. Don't let the ultra fancy brand new state of the art building make you think you will walk out the door 100% satisfied.. Staff was pleasant, eye exam went well but spent @ $1,000.00 on 2 pairs of glasses which frames and lenses that were never right from the start. Took weeks and weeks to return and get new frames and lenses. I got tired of returning to the store over 8 times over 3 months to resolve the outstanding issues so I gave up. Both pairs now sit in a box on the shelf and I went back to my old optical shop and bought 2 new pairs of glasses that are perfect. I would never go back nor recommend OPTX to anyone. I went to see dr. Diamonti, which was recommended to me by a friend. I can just say thank you very much for all of the great experience I had. My prescription is so right I just can't believe it. I ordered my glasses from another place because my insurance was not accepted by OPTX because my insurance is out of state. Anyway the girl that was taking my order for my glasses said wow I never herd someone to get a lower prescription. This can only mean that I was with wrong prescription since 2010, no wonder why I felt uncomfortable to wear my driving glasses. Thank You dr. I recently got my first pair of "progressive" glasses through Dr. Diamante and Optx. I had an excellent experience. Dr. Diamante and his staff helped guide me through the different types of lenses until I found one that made the transition so easy that even the staff was amazed at how well I adjusted to "tri-focals". I had a great time in the showroom picking frames that were just right for me. I was happy to see that the selection includes not only high-end but more moderately priced frames. There's really something for everyone. When my old glasses broke a few days before my new frames were supposed to be ready, the staff went above and beyond to get me my new glasses that day. read more

What a great store! My friend and I were on our way from NYC back to Boston and we were told that if you want the perfect pair of sunglasses go to Optx. So we did and what a great experience it was! I was actually shopping for my husband, and Lynne (the owner) saw a picture of him and she knew the right pair for me to buy for him! Then the best part of this visit was fitting my friend. Lynne picked a pair that my friend loved. But my friend tried on 15 or so more pairs and the funny thing was she ended up buying the first pair Lynne picked! Lynne knows! I think that's really cool. I left my eye Dr. that I had been going to for over 30 years because he had retired and the people who took over was not competent enough to do their jobs and were very unprofessional. I came across OTPX and was willing to give them a try. I went to my first appt everyone was very nice & pleasant, I ordered my glasses and was very excited to pick them up and start wearing them. I picked them up and could not see a thing out of them....Re-ordered 3 more times after that STILL NOT RIGHT!!!!!! Today I called to try to order contacts, the recording says you can order online well you CAN'T. I then called back to place my order with a rep only to get hung up on twice finally getting through the 3rd time I was placed on hold only to be told the sales reps were too busy they would have to call me back..... Absolutely the best! Staff was very courteous and professional.I had a new pair of glasses from another optometrist (Walmart) that were not working well. Dr Diamante found the discrepancy, made the correction, and laser tuned my prescription to my own specific sight goals. No one has asked me my sight goals at other places. My glasses are focused to my individual sight requirements rather than just a machine making it 20/20 regardless of my needs.If you want the best eye technology in RI with a doctor who is more like going to see an old friend than a doctor, this is the place for you. read more

Buyer be wear! You are required to prepay your order in full. When there is an issue, they do not refund your money. I will explain to you why you shouldn't agree to prepaying your purchase in full. Three months ago I purchased designer sunglasses. When I returned home I realized they were defective. I called the store to inform them. I returned the next day to gave them the damaged merchandise to be replaced. I was told the representative from that company would be called for an immediate replacement. At the time I also had a pair of perscription glasses on order and requested my sunglasses be replaced at the same time the prescription glasses would be. I specifically said that if this time frame was not possible I would want a full refund. I was told this was not a problem. A week later the prescription glasses were ready . The sunglasses replacement was not. The manager was not in and I was told he was the only one to refund my money. I requested a full refund on my American Express for the sunglasses that were not delivered in the time frame promised. I spent the next three weeks making phone calls requesting my refund receipt and was told the manager was on vacation. I disputed the charge on my Amex bill. A month later the manager said he never agreed to a full refund. In fact he said the " no refund " policy is posted in the store. He also said he replaced them and my replacement was waiting for me to pick them up. Three weeks later was not in the time frame we agreed . When I sat at a small service desk to try the glasses on and purchase them there was no refund policy posted. I received a receipt that was printed on one side and it did not have any terms and conditions of the sale- final sale etc. I was NOT told there was no refund when we made the agreement to have the glasses ready in a prescribed time frame. I disputed the Amex charge. A month later Optx wrote a rebuttal argument from the manager claiming the replacements were waiting for me and that there was not going to be a refund. I completed a second dispute with Amex regarding this refund. Optx wrote a second rebuttal . This is the third month of my American Express statement and I see the purchased has been placed back on my charge. I intend on disputing this charge. If sunglasses are final sale there should be a sign posted. The sales staff should tell you at the time of purchase - final sale-and when you have a problem with defective merchandise, they will not refund your money. There are many other places in Rhode Island that have better business practices. Buyer be wear! You shouldn't have to prepay your entire purchase upfront and then chase them if there is a customer complaint. The glasses were purchased August 4th, it is the first week of November and I am still dealing with this issue. Bad business practice. Not customer friendly. read more

I am completely disappointed with the customer service, actually lack of customer service from OPTX Eyewear. I had viewed ads in the Rhode Island Monthly providing them with great ratings; now I know it is only because they pay for ads in the magazine. When I visited their new show room in Johnston, I looked around for approximately 1/2hr before anyone approached me -- a saleswoman was just chatting with someone else about their likes and dislikes of the showroom and never even asked if I needed assistance . When it was time to pick up my glasses, to my surprise, they were not open evenings and/or weekends. Unfortunately, I work weekdays during normal business hours. I checked their website before going back again, no hours posted. I called and the voicemail message did not have any hours listed either -- only stated that I was calling after normal business hours. Unfortunately, I did take time out of work to pick up my glasses. When I did pick them up, I waited again and watched as the saleswoman was just chomping away at her gum and totally unprofessional. She did retrieve my glasses and gave them to me without any information about the glasses or perhaps on the care of the glasses. Not only were the glasses overpriced, I was appalled with the lack of service -- I would not recommend them to anyone. read more
