Location & Parking: Dr. Osmoni is located in a complex of building on Redlands Boulevard, just…read moreeast of Nevada Street. His office is the most eastern building at the street in the complex. It's signed as "Redlands Yucaipa Medical Group" or "RYMG" or something other than his name, so finding it the first time is tricky. There is ample parking in the complex. Office: The medical office is standard office. There are several chairs in a smaller waiting room, but it can become standing room only. There's a TV. Appointment: Expect to wait up to an hour after your scheduled appointment time. This, alone, would prompt me to find a different medical provider, but I think Dr. Osmoni falls behind because he actually listens to patients. I never feel that he's hurrying my description or explanation. He'll have an actual conversation with you about your health. Redlands Yucaipa Medical Group: I haven't had as good experience with other doctors in the RYMG. I think his referrals are to other doctors in that group. I now schedule specialist appointments with people outside of this group because other than Dr. Osmani, I've been disappointed.

My primary care doctor stayed through the transition to Optum and reports that "panel size" (the number of patients assigned to each doctor) dramatically increased after Optum took over. (Doctors in other specialities report the problem is not as bad outside primary care). Optum is owned by UnitedHealth Group (UHG), a major healthcare company with over $370 billion in revenues per year. In its latest report to shareholders, UHG touted "double-digit growth" at Optum and 14% growth in earnings across the entire company. None of their staff listens to their patient's and they will hold your medications hostage if you don't visit at least 2 times per year. My psychiatrist was unreassuring during my appointment, so he suggested that I meet with his boss and the owner of the establishment, Dr. Desai, to address my concerns. I appreciated the redirection and agreed to meet with him in person. We scheduled an appointment for September 17th at 1:30 PM. On the day of the appointment, I received a call from Dr. Desai at approximately 12:45 PM. I reminded him that we had an appointment scheduled for 1:30 PM, but he told me that he did not see the appointment on his end. I simply told him that I felt this was unprofessional. Instead of acknowledging the scheduling issue or attempting to resolve the situation, he became upset by my comment and told me that I could call my insurance and find someone else. That response was extremely disappointing, especially considering that he is the owner of the establishment. Mistakes with scheduling can happen, but what matters is how you take accountability and treat the patient when a mistake occurs. I was not expecting perfection--I was expecting professionalism, communication, and accountability. Being told to simply find another provider after I raised a reasonable concern was incredibly frustrating and left me feeling dismissed. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this practice. Patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and taken seriously, especially when they are seeking mental health care.
