Unacceptable Patient Care and Complete Lack of Responsiveness…read more I have been a patient of Eye Consultants of Atlanta for over 11 years, originally under Dr. Alan Kozarsky, (5 Stars) and now Dr. Lee. Unfortunately, my recent experience with Dr. Lee's office has been extremely disappointing and, frankly, alarming. I have a history of Primary Acquired Melanosis (PAM), suspected ocular melanoma, two eye surgeries, and permanent vision loss in one eye. I am now experiencing new and worsening symptom in that same eye, a sizable bump either on my eyelid and discharge. After Dr. Lee's July examination, telling me it was likely scar tissue from two eye lashes in my eye which he removed. (I would know if I had a foreign object in my eye) This failed to resolve my concerns nor the problem with my eye. As my eye discharge has continued to worsen, I requested a referral to an ocular melanoma specialist at Emory. For more than two weeks, despite at least six phone calls, an online complaint with his office and multiple promises of return calls for Tech # 3, I have received absolutely no response from anyone. Today, I even requested the emergency line and spoke with a triage technician. After explaining my medical history, worsening symptoms, and repeated unanswered messages, his only solution was to transfer me back to the same technician's voicemail that has gone unanswered for weeks. This is not simply poor customer service. This is a failure to respond to a patient seeking potentially time-sensitive medical care. I am not asking Dr. Lee to diagnose cancer over the phone. I am asking for a referral to a specialist qualified to evaluate my symptoms since he didn't seem to have any concern about this foreign lump and discharge. Yet I cannot even get someone from his office to return a call. After 11 years as a patient, I find this level of indifference and lack of accountability unacceptable. Patients should not have to repeatedly plead for assistance, especially when their medical history warrants serious attention. Dr. Lee and Eye Consultants of Atlanta need to take responsibility for an in competent staff and how their patients are treated after they leave the examination room.

E X P E R I E N C E I have extension vision history and…read morehave considered lasik for a long time. I wore Ortho-K (hard corrective contacts) when I was 6 years old until 12 years old. Then have been wearing soft contacts (I hate glasses- bouncing around my face making me motion sick, and the side view limitations/distortion) for loong time after that. My vision is -650/-675. I did extensive research on which doc and company to go with. I've had several close friends come to this location and have a wonderful experience. The pre-procedure doc (Indian lady) said that they treated a woman of -1200 (my mind literally doesn't understand what that means bc without glasses, I could barely read a foot in front of me and anything more than a foot, were shapes and colors to me). This place, is the bombdiggity.com (does that expose my age lol). ***Initial Consultation: You'll go in for a consultation. Do not be alarmed at the sheer number of people there. The turnover is quick! I went in at 8am, done by 930am. They even offered same day procedure (but due to personal obligations, it wasn't a viable option for me. So I opted to do it 3 weeks later). ***Day Of: Overview: Check in. Sign papers (they really CYA bc they make you sign multiple paragraphs and parts of the paragraphs multiple times to make sure you understand lmao). Pay. (GO PEE NOW). You'll meet Dr Smith for a last assessment. Then procedure. Then Head home! I arrived at 7:55am for my 8am scheduled time and I was done by 10am. *The Procedure: From the moment you are called in, to the moment you walk out, it's a 15 min situation. You'll put your stuff down. (feel free to throw your glasses out the metaphorical window). You'll put on a bonnet. The staff will have you lay down on the OR table (in between two machines). It's a little chilly in the room (we love that. Less bacterial growth) and there's cool funky classic music on (makes you conflicted because i wanna dance but not really because I was nervous for the procedure loll it was calming/uplifting). They put some guaze on either side of your eyes then they'll flood your eyes several times with the numbing drops (It's really soothing). The doc comes in, floods your eyes again. Slides you under machine to the right, puts these clamps under your eyelid to keep your eyelids open (doesn't hurt I promise; you just see him doing stuff but no pain). Then tells you to look at the green light, then he puts this plastic looking circular thing (I bet you love my very proper official names) and presses down on your eyeball (all you feel is pressure. Again, no pain. My vision went black and I could see spots of light). Then he slides you over to the machine on the left and that's where the magic happens. Theres no light or laser to look at; so just look somewhere in the middle. (I just saw a bright white screen with white lights in a circle. He counts down "5 seconds'.."3 seconds"..."Done!" which is so reassuring). Your first eye is done. (Literally it's done before you know it). Repeat second eye. Then you're told to sit up. (I thought I f-ed it up bc I didn't know where to look for the second machine, BUT when I sat up, it was so hazy BUT I could already see better than without my glasses T__T it was. Amazing.) Walk over to the third part (separate machine), where he floods your eyes with more numbing drops and uses forcep like tools to go fishing around on your eyeballs (again, doesn't hurt. It's just weird lmao I'm assuming he's laying the corneal flap down properly). You look at a green dot. As he's moving the (I'm assuming) flap around, this large fuzzy red circular shape appears. You hear clicking and smell something burning. A few seconds and it's done. Repeat second eye. I literally gushed at the doc and the two staff members and thanked them (I was still stunned from the procedure tho) and walked out. YOU'RE DONE. (I could read some text on my phone!) Get home safely! *Post procedure: When i got home, I took the HydroEye vitamins, taped the two clear eye covers to my face, and then napped. Stay in a dark room and listen to podcasts/make phone calls :) TIP: Make alarms for every hour. | I did EVEN hour for the Blue cap (Antibiotic/Steroid) drops and ODD hour for the Clear cap (Optase- hydrating dry eye) drops. this way your eyes are hydrated! My eyes hurt. It felt like I was wearing contacts that had dirty particles on the edges. It felt like I had sand pebbles on my eyeballs (these are dry spots!!). My eyes wouldn't stop tearing up. Keep flooding your eyes with the hydrating eyedrops! Normal! TIP: Cover your eyes at all times. | If you're not wearing the clear eye covers, make sure you're wearing the sunglasses (even when indoors!). Do not risk forgetting and then rubbing your eyes! OMG i have no more space to type but basically staff was amazing and kind, experience was perfect. ample parking. refer to my google review. I'm SO THANKFUL!

The initial assessment was very nice, there were only a few people there (went to Dunwoody location), and the doctor that did the assessment was extremely knowledgeable and wonderful at explaining everything. I had to go to the Galleria location because they had the more specialized laser for my horrible prescription. I wasn't really nervous, but excited to finally have the procedure. I was a bit put off at first (not to the point I'd reconsider) by the sheer amount of people there for Lasik-- and ONE doctor. It's definitely a mill. They must make a fortune. Second, I was put off by the doctor. He looked really rough-- like a homicide detective or military captain. Like he's been beat up a lot and doesn't shy away from a good fist fight (LOL). He smiled a lot, to make me feel more comfortable, but he didn't really try to answer my questions and seemed annoyed (some of the things he said to expect were NOT what the doctor who did the assessment said-- he didn't have any interest in hearing it). All said, he did know how to use the laser and corrected my vision just fine. The surgeon is just one of many of the cogs in the wheel, there is no patient-doctor relationship, and they make it very impersonal and sterile to manage expectations (IMO).

Gene with Eye Consultants left me a message on my phone to advise me to arrive @ 10:45. when i arrived and checked in and sat in the waiting room with the other patients i was told they w call me when they are ready. Two hours pass by, and everybody was still in the waiting room. This never happen with appointment I had the same location this pass January. So, I asked my daughter who brought me to ask the receptionist what the problem was. She said all doctors. are working out of one O.R. and they are behinds, and I was patient #3, Two other Patients are ahead of me. The desk never advised the patients of the problem. More patients arrive checked in and taken back to the prep area. About this time, it has been 3 hours in the waiting room. I was very upset, so I walked in the office and asked several patients checked in and was taken directly back to prep area. The receptionist stated other physicians are also doing surgery here out of one O.R.I advised that this office should have told patients about the situation and gave us a choice to stay or rescheduled the surgery. That when she asked me do, I was to reschedule it My response was I've been here for 3 hours no do want me to call Dr Fabrizio staff with a update. She calls and was told he has a difficult case, and it will be 20 more minutes. When I finally went back it went from bad to worse. As they begin to prep me for surgery the nurse/pa advised me they don't have the surgical clearance paperwork and ask me did i have in while i was on the table. No i don't you should have. All this prior to me coming in. Nurse/PA said the paperwork was not in thier system and they can't do the surgery without it. start asking me question about who I saw and where the located .my response nurse Chery Reedus with Piedmont Heart Atlanta location 275 collier rd also check with my PCP Jeffrey Haller. I overheard a side conversion about my case. If i wanted to have it done without the surgical clearance, I will be financially. Response. If anything went wrong. Then Nurse/PA said they will get the anesthesiologist to look over my ECG, she saw no problems. Then the Nurse/PA came to me and said they found the surgical clearance paperwork in another patient file. I had a follow-up appointment with Doctor Fabrizo and i discuss the horrible situation from the day before. I asked what happen why was there such a delay. Working out of one O.R he denied that was not true, running behind he denied that too so i told him that's what your staff told patients. I asked him to explain what happen yesterday. He excused himself from the room without giving me a answer.
