The service was mediocre but the price wasn't bad. When I cancelled my service they charged me for an additional month even after I turned in the router. I was told by multiple employees that once I turned in my router and service was disconnected I would not receive another bill. AVOID AT ALL COST: Low-rent scammers who overbill and do not adhere to their contractual agreements. I am a retired IT professional and this is the WORST ISP I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. First, they signed me up for a 1GBPS connection, and for over a year failed to provide that speed. When I finally got tired of dealing with their support because this inability was a local issue due to the quality of the lines and downgraded it to 500MBPS, they failed to apply the credit or downgrade the service to reflect the new $69.99 price. One month later, still having failed to apply the $20 credit agreed to over the phone for May, or the additional fees carried over to the next month, now owing me $43.69, they said my 'Introductory price' had changed, which was ree-agreed upon two months ago and attempted to bill me $85.09 for 500MBPS and still not reflecting the $43.69 that they still owe me. Their outsourced billing agents were unable to help me and their customer service was no better. I filed both FTC and BBB complaints. I chose to get a 10MPBS connection for $60 from AT&T because at least they won't steal from me and will honor their contracts. read more

I am in the military and was here temporarily, and they made it very difficult for me to cancel over the phone (corporate help line, not this location). Absolutely the worst company in existence. I'm not talking in the communication sector, I'm talking in all fields. Normally a company has a bad customer service department but good local reps, or vice versa. Suddenlink surprisingly is low on all fronts. 1) You cannot call and talk to anyone. By the time you do, its outsourced to a different country and they literally don't care. We called to ask why our bill went up and was told if we didn't like it we could cancel.... 2) If you go to the store, prepare to wait hours for no resolution. The only resolution offered is to send a tech...which cost a fee. 3) They falsify records. We started with the 200 mb plan with a data cap. We consistently came in at about 70% of our data cap. Then magically, one month, when we were out of town for two weeks our usage increased to well over our data cap. When I called they were unable to verify my usage each week. But for only $10 more per month I could increase speed and have no cap. Suddenlink is the prime example on why monopolies should not exist. If they had one cable competitor in town their service would drastically be different. As is they know you can't go anywhere else so they don't care if the service they provide is trash. read more

Beyond the high rates (which will go up without warning--keep an eye out) for spotty Internet and cable, Suddenlink is as unreliable as possible. The cable line has been hanging down on fences and on the road for four hours now, and even though suddenlink has been notified twice (it's a hazard to drivers) they have yet to respond. In typical suddenlink fashion, they are dragging their feet. But hey, they're the only game in town so I guess they can afford to do that. We had service since1984 but were glad to go with any other company when given an opportunity. Had internet service for 12+ years. Rates went up considerably. Switched to another provider in January 2023. They asked that I returned any equipment I had. I informed them we bought our own modem and never had one of theirs. The next month I received a bill for the modem that i informed them we never had. Called and discuss this with a representative. They assured me they Whitaker the charge off. The next month I received another bill with the same charge. I called a second time and was again assured the change was taken off. April I was call by a collections agency for the same charge. Now I get to deal with disputing the issue with collections and credit bureau. This is unacceptable read more

The techs are rude and never show up. The one and only tech who did show didn't fix anything and lied to my husband the entire time he was here, he never showed back up to replace our modem either. They continously give excuses and the internet service is horrible. Always cutting out, always shutting down. From what I have read we aren't the only ones with the issues that have occurred with this horrendous company. Well I have been a customer for over 7 years and I have to say the recent experience with them has been the worst customer service experience I have had in a long time. We moved to a new place and they told us to just bring our old equipment. That worked and things were fine though we needed a technician to fix a few cable connections (the one we wanted to use was not working so we used another temporarily). Well they told us to tell them once we were moved and they would take the old house off or bill. We did that and the person decided to completely cancel our service and the technician that was supposed to be here the next day. We called and they said it was fixed and we should have internet shortly. 24 hours later and no internet we call to be told we have to wait for a technician to turn us on which now was scheduled for a week later. I was furious, we work from home and no internet is a huge problem for us and they basically told use we had no other option but to wait for the technician for a week because although they can remotely shut us down, they can't remotely turn on a "new service". That already is pretty ridiculous and they admitted they had made the mistake but could not fix it for a week. Well we were mad but stuck since it's the only halfway decent internet service in town. After a week they fixed it and gave use a different modem which got us up and running but the service was pretty abysmal even though we are on their 1gb internet service. Well come to find out the modem they gave us could not even come close speed wise (rated for peak 400mbps) and was just terrible. Ended up buying my own modem and a nice router which resolved that problem. Overall I am giving them two stars for the good parts over the years and the fact now that I have things running well the service is decent. But the customer service and their way of doing things is foolish and wastes lots of time. My recommendation to those wanting suddenlink is to buy your own modem and router and get it setup as soon as you can and then try to not call customer service unless you are having serious issues. read more

Positives: internet service was reliable. Negatives: the salesman lied to our entire incoming unit, blatantly, about services, prices, and which plan we'd need. He also lied regarding details of some services. We had the 50mb plan instead of the 200 which he told everyone to take, and the 50 was plenty and unlimited, as opposed to what the salesman said. Prices are attrocious. The company is exploiting a monopoly and charging huge amounts more than other companies would if there was competition here. 1/5 stars, the company exploits our armed service members and lies to them. read more

Poor service, outrageous rates, expensive equipment. We moved, gave our old equipment to the service guy who came out. Now we r being charged about $800 for "non-returned" equipment. I was on automatic draft. I cancelled that because I can't afford for them to draft out over $1000 which is cost of service plus the equipment they claim we still have. The second time I called them regarding this issue, they said they had no record of my 1st call. I've been trying for days to make a change to my account. You can't get anyone to answer the phone. I can log in to my account online, but when I go in to "Edit" my services, I can't cancel my TV service. I can add or upgrade services...NOT going to happen. I finally get through to "chat" help after waiting a LONG time for them to respond, and they can't cancel services; I have to call the number that no one answers. When I finally get a call back it's from someone who I can barely understand and they can't cancel my service. They have to forward me to Customer Retention who isn't available - I guess too many people are cancelling service. This is fairly ridiculous, but I'm not surprised given how far Suddenlink has fallen since becoming Altice. Even thought the Dish internet service isn't as good, it can't be as frustrating as dealing with Suddenlink. It's really sad because Suddenlink was a great company at one time. Worst customer service I've ever experienced! After being told it was an easy move and to bring my equipment with me from Abilene to Midland I was told by the installer that I was wrong and would have to mail it back to Abilene. If I didn't mail it or take it back I would be charged a little more than $800.00 for the equipment. I called customer service and spent two hours on the phone trying to get it resolved. I was finally told it would be taken care of and that the installer would take the equipment and replace it with new. I scheduled a new appointment and when the new installer came he knew nothing about it. Both installers were rude and instead of trying to help just told me everything they couldn't do as far as where to install etc. they were arrogant and very condescending. The technician came, installed, then left. That night the channels and package I purchase were supposed to include DVR and On Demand services. They didn't work, so on Jan 7, 8, 9 and finally the 12th they said there was nothing they could do to fix it. I attempted to return the equipment in store after the service technician failed to pick up the equipment during the scheduled appointment time. After waiting for over 2 hours in line, "LGL" called my name. She was completely rude, refused to answer my questions about a refund, and then had the audacity to be disrespectful while at it. If I could give NEGATIVE stars- I would. They don't deserve to even call themselves an internet company. I pay for 400mbps and get less than 100mbps. When I called to get the problem fixed they sent me around to 4 different people because NO ONE there knows how to do their job. (Especially Michael) I can't tell you how many times the call was "disconnected" after asking a question the service person didn't know the answer to. All they wanted to do was keep resetting the f-ing modem which NEVER worked!! When I finally got through to someone who understood my frustration (Crystal)- she set up an appt for a Thursday between 1-5pm. I was going to be home for part of it and my husband was going to be home for the other part. Crystal couldn't figure how how to put 2 numbers on the account. She said she could only enter one phone number for the technician to call so I gave her mine. The technician NEVER showed up between 1-5pm. I work in the ER and had to go to work that night. The technician called me at 7:30 PM and I did not answer because I was with a patient. I called back multiple times in less than 15 minutes and there was no answer. Meanwhile my husband was at home on the phone with customer service for over two hours. The employee he was speaking with (Jennifer) was kind until he told her he was staying on the phone until the technician showed up...she then DISCONNECTED the call. He called back and spoke with another representative (Deborah) who then informed him the technician had CANCELED the appointment because no one had answered the phone. She rescheduled him for Monday. Oh did I mention that if the technician finds a problem with the wiring inside the home you get charged a service fee... We haven't touched the wiring, moved furniture, or done anything with the set up of the wiring since the initial technician came out and set it up three months ago. I told them they must be OUT OF THEIR DANG MINDS to think they can charge me for something the initial technician set up. In addition, they have refused to change my monthly bill even though I am not receiving even a fourth of what I pay for. John from the retention department told me that after they come out and try to fix it, I can try to call technical support and get some credit back. IDIOTS. IDIOTS. IDIOTS. The internet worked well when I lived on base in the dorms. I was only there for 5 months and paid my slightly expensive monthly bill for the internet. However, I left in very early January '17 and turned the modem into the store myself and they told me to call their customer service number to cancel my account entirely. So I did that the following day and had the final payment and the cancellation taken care of. I got a call from a debt collector this week because Suddenlink charged me for the months of February, March and April even though my account showed the equipment turned in in JANUARY and I was no longer in the state of Texas. Trying to steal money from people and screw their credit over is terrible customer service. This store itself had nice and helpful employees but I can't rate the company overall without having a specific address. read more

You only have all your services about half the time, you can't reach them by telephone and get a live person no matter how many times you call or what time. Suddenlink has good speeds and that is about it. Their connectivity stability is trash, their customer service is trash, their prices are trash. The worst thing about them is the stability. You cannot keep a stable connection throughout the day. you will see constant disconnects and downed internet. Liars and thief's! I was told it would be $89 for the triple play, phone, internet, cable. My first bill came around after the prorated month and it was $118. I called to ask what the problem was and of course I got the run around. I talked to 6 different people and nothing got resolved. I was told a manager would call me back in the next 24 hours, that never happened. I called again and thats when I found out my bill went to $132!!! Just out of nowhere. The cost of Suddenlink is ridiculous, and their lack of accessibility is terrible. I have tried to call about a late fee charge, but the phone numbers listed on the bill just "go dead" after a recording is heard. I sent in a payment the week of June 1 for a bill due about June 11, but for some reason was charged a late fee! Now I know that I need to send in the payment the same day that I receive it. As a teacher, I feel so sorry for the families that have to pay Suddenlink's preposterous fees in order to have internet connections for Virtual Learning. Surely this company could be more accessible for the families suffering financial losses during this pandemic instead of taking advantage of a horrendous situation.
