Wasn't looking forward to having to wait in a waiting room, then wait in a triage room. My time in doctors offices has been spent waiting. Always feeling that your time is not as important than every single person that works in that doctors offices. My day was made when I went to Desert Orthopedic. Everyone was so efficient. I hardly waited at any point in my visit. Everyone was also very friendly. I think from beginning to end, the process took no more that 30 minutes once I was checked in. I only went in for trigger finger, so nothing major but I felt like I didn't waste my time here. I got in and got out and my issue was, if not resolved yet, attended to, with resolution within sight. This injury needs surgery to fix, which is what my PCP said and sent me to this guy bc he is supposed to be the best (haha). He gave me a shot in my knee and in my hip (I should say some nurse did) that wasn't even in the correct place for my injury and shooed me out the door. He did admit I needed surgery first. This guy is an arrogant piece. I think he was in the room 5 minutes tops. Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm for this office no matter who you go to. They don't want to wait on you but you have to give up half a day to see anyone in this office. They have no respect for our time. Too bad we can't charge them like they want to charge us if we miss an appointment. In the meantime, my hip and knee are only getting worse!! I would strong NOT recommend anyone in this office but especially Dr. Kang.

When I called to ask for a second dr they reacted quickly and got me in to see dr amesour. He was AMAZING! He took time, listened to me and helped me that day with a shot of cortisone. For the first time in 5 months I'm pain free! I'm also seeing Dr Perry for my back and he's also an amazing doctor! Also took the time to listen and I'm on a path to getting better. The only department I'd stay away from is pain management. I had an 8:30am appointment and they didn't call until 7:30 that morning to ask where my referral was!?! Made no sense when it was desert orthopedics center that sent me to desert orthopedics pain management because the girl at the front desk was so unwilling to help she just cancelled my appointment.

The previous time I did this, I was able to go during my lunch break. Here's what happened this time. First I got an email from PDS Medical on 12/24/25 reminding me I have an appointment on January 7th, 2026. I confirmed the appointment. Then I get an email on 12/30/25 reminding me I have an appointment and letting me know that I can save time by using e check-in. Done. I checked in using the online portal. Finally. I got a text message the morning of my appointment on Jan 7th again reminding me I have an appointment. Confirmed! My appointment was at 1:30pm, so I took a lunch break from 1:00pm-2:00pm. I showed up at 1:15pm. Checked in at the front desk. The receptionist, a very nice lady named Esmeralda charged me my $70 copayment. She emailed me my receipt. Receipt received in my email at 1:17pm. I waited in the lobby patiently. I was then called in at my appointment time exactly at 1:30pm. The assistant took my blood pressure & weight, then escorted me to the waiting room at 1:35. I sat in the waiting room until 2:00pm! Christine V. never showed up! I heard her walk into a room of a patient that showed up after me at 1:58pm! There was no communication from the staff letting me know they were short staffed. Nor was there any communication for warning me that the wait would be longer than expected. I left as soon as my lunch break ended 2pm (and returned to work late). I did let the nice receptionist know that no one ever came in the room to see me. She could tell I was upset when I walked out. Do you think anyone called me to apologize? No! Not during the drive home, nor during the remainder of the afternoon or evening! The next day I got a message from the MyChart portal letting me know my prescription refill was denied. The portion I paid for my blood work on 12/24, and the $70 copay for the office was a waste of money!

I was a member at the Hawkes Clinic a while ago. For my once a year bloodwork and physical exam it…read morewas convenient. But two years ago I decided to quit my membership. As a healthy patient with lab readings all in the normal range, I didn't really find the need to go see him other than those yearly visits. All the other months I wasn't seeing him I still paid the $60 monthly fee which amounted to $720 a year for one annual physical and bloodwork. It wasn't really cost effective. Direct primary care sounds good in theory. But having a pay per month membership fee (as opposed to a patient paying only for the services that are used) makes it a costly proposition for those who are in good health. I was basically subsidizing the cost of the people who were more regular visitors, which is the same idea as insurance (albeit with a benefit of less paperwork and bureaucracy). With the few times I did visit Dr. Hawkes the office was friendly and professional. But I found that the practice wasn't a good fit for me. Not everything he was communicating to me was accurate to my situation and I disagreed with some of his views. I would totally recommend him though for a patient who needs help treating diabetes, heart issues or any other common conditions (that don't require a specialist). If a person needs guidance from a physician in losing weight, he is the ideal person to go see.
