Tom Terrific here with an update on Optical Outlet store in New Port Richey. Here's my old review with fresh info after it: ZERO STARS 0 STARS NADA STARS NO STARS TOM TERRIFIC HERE WITH ANOTHER HONEST REVIEW. Nine months ago on September 3, 2021 I bought one of this outlet's most expensive eyeglasses along with a second pair of regular readers. In all i spent hundreds of dollars. The sales associate said they were made partially of titanium and she demonstrated their strength and flexibility by bending and twisting them. I was impressed enough to buy them. Nine months later I go to put them on and..... BOING!!!! They came apart in two pieces. So i went to the store with my receipt expecting to get either a super deal or a free pair. NOPE. Too bad, the manager said. You want another pair you pay the full price out of pocket. I was interested in getting contact lenses if they offered me a deal but after that exchange I simply said, "I'll go somewhere else." FRESH INFO: I bought two glasses here. One for just looking around and normal use that was titanium. They broke as i said above. My other glasses were for reading especially small print. They just broke yesterday. Glass just fell out. I'd say it was a year and a half old. So skip Optical Outlets, all locations. That's my advice to you. Go somewhere else other than any of the Optical Outlets. Appointment scheduled for 4:20 it's currently 5:22 and have yet to see a doctor. The only person who has helped me was an assistant who was constantly coughing and smelled of cigarettes. You would think someone would care enough to at least wash their hands before putting them near someone's face. Once seen the doctor while nice had terrible personal hygiene, and the machines looked like they haven't been wiped down in months. AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

Don't do it. Pros: easy parking, good location, large clean storefront, great hours Cons: Don't really take walk-ins as posted, LONGGG wait times, some rude staff that only half listens to what you are saying, contact lenses not in stock and had to wait over a week for trials to arrive, will not modify contact lens scripts after trying trials-told me to have eye surgery instead, this after spending about $160 on the eye exams. Stuck with a worthless script for contacts that don't work for my eyes. Now, will have to shell out another $175 to go to a more competent, private practice. read more

Came in w $60 coupon , my total was $279.85, came back w no coupon and my total was $214 w much more expensive frames, same lenses. The CSR didn't realize I wasn't buying more frames, just exchanging , there is no rational in their pricing . It's a crap shoot. They made my glasses wrong twice, blamed it on my eyes, turns out they flipped the #'s on my prescription, third time still couldn't see clearly, my 5 yr old glasses had better clarity, finally received a refund. I had a friend who had bad lenses made FOUR times, she finally gave up, too frustrated to try to get a refund, the owner Mazen never did call as promised. It's been over a week. I just have my eye exam today at 8605 US 19 in Port Richey what I can say is not good I will rate 0 zero. I don't recommend Murphy the mean doctor. Everyone seems nice except the doctor who is so mean, grumpy old man Murphy who is racist because I'm asean. Outside the check up room where patients were waiting Murphy asked me if I could speak English I said yes. When it was my turn he was rude and harsh to me inside the check up room asking questions and was mumbling most of the time that couldn't understand his words . I noticed also that he's not sanitizing the instruments he's using so I wiped with my clean tissue the area where my chin would be and he raised his voice with anger asking what did I put that smells horrible I said only a clean tissue. When he realized that it was only a tissue paper he silent himself. He was also my optometrist last two years ago but he was nice because my white husband was with me . My husband was very sorry that he did go with me in the check up room maybe Murphy would deal with me niceLy if he was there. read more

I was in need of computer glasses, first script totally wrong once glasses were received. Second script no better so I had to go elsewhere and was left for weeks sitting right on top of my computer to do my job. I'll never return to this shop and I can't recommend it. read more

worst place ever to get glasses. my husba prescription was so messed he could hardly read out of them Three da later the top color started peeling off within a week they were rusted. his bifocal line was so little he couldn't even read. mine they missed my stigmatism. I couldn't read a book in my lap. also the doctor suggested I get checked for glaucoma . we decided to go to Vionsworks spent almost another $500.00 then I spent $50.00 for the glacim text which I do not have. there staff is rude and unprofessional. beware don't go!!!! read more

I ordered two pairs of glasses yesterday with progressive lenses. It was not until I got home that I realized the girl never measured for lenses. I called today to cancel my order but was told I have to wait until the manager is back in which might be tomorrow. I will never go back there!! read more

These guys really hit it out of the park. I was traveling through new port and port richey and someway somehow clove oil got into my contact case while I was traveling so I called and not only did they answer on a Saturday evening before closing the told me to come right over and they would help me out with my contacts. Excellent staff excellent service I will be recommending them to all the other semi blind Florida friends I have! read more

The most impersonal place I've been to. The office in New Port Richey was not a great experience. I feel so greatly about my opinion that I'm still sitting here as I write this.... Brought me back at a decent time, perfect. Except, I don't even know who brought me back or what was being done to me. Just told hold my eye open and she wasn't gonna touch it. Next, a lady in a white coat came out, due to my experience white coats this usually means the doctor or provider. She didn't introduce herself, didn't say what she was doing. Called my name walked me in a room and expected me to know where to sit out of 3 chairs. She finally pointed, not said. Just pointed for me to sit. Asked me about changes in my vision from my last visit. Told her I've never been, and my concern. She changed her autopilot direction and asked if I could see some letters on a screen with each eye, got that. Still no other words from her mouth besides "can you see that, any better, any worse" moving on. She asked if she could dilate my eyes.... knowing I've never been she should have explained what this does. I ask why. Vague, she says to see my retinas better or something. I said no, I wasn't comfortable. I knew I needed to but me being uncomfortable with her, I will go somewhere else. She didn't seem happy and moved on with checking something else. Stood up grabbed her paper work n headed for the door.... me, sitting confused on if I should stay or get up she tells me to come on. Then says someone else will bring you up to talk about glasses. As a doctor you should act totally different. I'm going to pay for my glasses today and never come back. Only because I need something now. I'm not at all a Karen, I don't just write bad reviews, I just can't believe the lack of customer service here. Good thing the (who I assume was the doctor) person was wearing her coat with a name that said Katie on it I never would have know who was doing things to my eyes. The Place is chaos, discussing financials, eye concerns right in front of all the other patients. I am not at all comfortable with this. **update, fast forward 10 mins, as I sit here it looks like I was her last patient which explains why I got the short end of the stick. This place is busy! The wait time was LONG.... The TV played 'The Shaggy DA" over & over again - yes, the Disney version. Glasses selection for their advertised 'deals' are NOT very attractve (any frame under $69 - good luck with that). So if you're going for a little more modern look or bling, take your checkbook with you. The ad that brought me in was $149 for Contact Lense exam, 2 boxes of contacts and a pair of glasses. Granted, I wear progressive, so I expected an upcharge. I hated their 'included frame selectioin' (of course), so chose another frame that cost more. My bill ended up being $369 - alrighty then. However, Bert is extremely charming as he tells you the new price of your visit. Loved Dr. Lockwood. Effecient, very nice, explained some of the different tests she was doing. Awesome. Susan was great too. She did my initial tests and finalized paperwork. Very personable and professional. The place is DIRTY! I highly recommend they use a good cleaning service at least once a month. The lab sink where Dr. L had me wash my hands (to put in my contacts) was gross. It needs a good soak in vinegar to get all of the hard water chunks off. read more

Made an appointment for my hubby to get his eyes examined. I went with him as I'm looking for a new eye doctor. We loved Dr. Lockwood! She explained everything, good/bad/and the ugly in a way we were able to understand without talking down to us. I loved her so much I made an appointment to see her as well. She remembered us and even answered a question regarding my hubby. We must be doing something right as neither of us had a change in our Rx that we got over 2 years ago. (and we really didn't need to get new ones then as our Rx hadn't changed.) She said to keep doing what we're doing. We will. read more

Awful. Absolutely awful. I called last week to make an appointment for today (02/18). I knew it was last minute but I'm going to California next week for a work conference and was trying to get new glasses prior to that. The woman I spoke to on Wednesday (2/13) was not only eating on the phone while speaking with me but seemed to just overall not know what she was doing. She had problems putting my insurance into the system as well. I ignored it because I desperately needed an appointment and all other places I called were booked. Well. I show up today and they can't find me in the system. I go through my call logs and confirm I made an appointment at that location. She finally finds me and tells me the appointment was made the following Monday. When I'll be in California. I obviously would not have booked an appointment for then and she said that there must have been some confusion. No apologies. Just blankly stared at me and told me there was no way they were getting me in today. I am furious. Thankfully Eyeglass World in Wesley Chapel has openings but now I have to drive an hour away to be seen. I will tell everyone I know about this and will never go to that location ever again. I was fully prepared to buy glasses, contacts and sunglasses since I was already going to be there so might as well. Poor service. Do not recommend. read more

I've been to other Optical Outlets before, and no doctor was as attentive and thorough as the doctor here. She explained my eye condition very well and went through my options with me. I was referred to Lisa, who went in depth with the pricing of different packages and helped me get the best bang for my buck, considering I'm a college student with a full time job and no insurance. Overall it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be coming to this location again, provided its still in the mall at that point read more

I went for an exam and was very pleased at how thorough they were. Dr. Lockwood was the first eye doctor to actually do such an extensive test and found my problems right away. The selection of glasses was excellent! Pam, who did all of my initial work was fantastic, I am very pleased. My glasses came in surprisingly fast which was nice. The place was clean, the wait time was minimal, everyone was polite and pleasant, its best to go first thing in the morning. I am very pleased and will return for my next exams and glasses. read more
