Lottie checked us in today. She was as pleasant and professional as Lottie, who retired last year. Rebecca took me into one of the side rooms for eye tests, and she, too, was pleasant and professional. When Dr. Beane tested my eyes, she was knowledgeable, easy going, and patient. Dr. Mathews would be happy to know that the new inhabitant of his exam room is as wonderful as he was! She adjusted my new prescription for my astigmatism. No more wavy or blurry intermittent lines. She also explained why cataract surgery wasn't necessary at this time. I don't mind waiting! Kimberlee was fantastic in the lens and frames department. She helped both of us pick out frames, went over our insurance to help us choose features, and checked us out. We went to another optometrist last year, thinking no one could replace Dr. Mathews. We did not know about Dr. Beane. If we had known, we would never have left. Now, we will definitely be back. read more

Very pleasant experience. The receptionist who scheduled the appointment was friendly and took the insurance info over the phone so we didn't need the hassle when we came in. The assistant and Dr. B who did the exams were also friendly. We needed more complex exams, and other chain-store eye exam places didn't offer the exams needed. There wasn't a huge selection of frames (about 2 lined walls), but that's fine because most other places that we've been to have duplicates to make it appear as if they have more. What I liked was that they have several waiting areas throughout the building, so waiting wasn't crowded and actually was relaxed due to the laid back, quiet atmosphere. It starts with being greeted by the staff as soon as you walk in the door. The beginning of the eye exam starts quickly after you check in. The doctors are great. I've seen both doctors and highly recommend either one. They have a amazing selection of frames. My only complaint is the price of their contacts. I get mine online for considerably less. But that's the one and only issue I have and that's easily remedied. read more

The doctor addresses all of your concerns and questions. While choosing your glasses they take the time to explain all options and prices so you know exactly what you're buying and what it costs. I had my eye exam this week with Dr. Shenai. I have been concerned because of my diabetes and how bad that has become and how that has effected my eyes. After all the tests Dr. Shenai went over them with me and with their new machine was able to show me pictures into the Center and back of my pupils and assure me they are very healthy still. Dr. Shenai and the ladies that took care of me were GREAT, they explained everything they were doing, answered all of my questions, were very kind and funny. I will never return here again. I lost all trust and respect for these providers. (I will not mention names because they know who they are) The poorest care, providers not returning phone calls, not sharing test results. Sorry but a pamphlet sent to me by mail about macular degeneration along with a sticky note attached to take Lutein does not suffice. Yes that's whay they did. In fact, twice this has happened to me here with the most recent I waited 2 months to get a call back and that was only because I marched in and asked for copies of my medical records, did a provider call me back afterwards but I never answered, as I said before, I lost all trust and respect. I have never experienced this kind of treatment before from any provider in my lifetime. I now have my medical records which shows doumentation that I was contacted and treatment plan discussed with me which is false information. I now will go elsewhere and start all over. Dr. Mathews has been my eye doctor for many years. Although I no longer live in the local area, I still drive up from Tampa for my eye care. Dr. Mathews and his staff are always professional and thorough. Last year I had an acute eye issue and I was able to get a timely appointment with Dr. Ruckman. She, too, took great care of me. Ive been going to Dr. Mathews office since 2015 and every time I come in, they always help me with anything I have- glasses readjustment, cleaning, eye exams, the works!!! If I could rate them 6 stars I would. More recently I went in to get a stronger prescription. I was in the office in and out in about an hour. I recently saw Dr Shanai for an eye exam and he was excellent at explaining what he was doing and trying to get me the best vision i could have. I waited for my lens to come in. I went into the office to have them put in my frames and Om-goodness. I could see so much better then I could before. I do data entry on 2 / 22 in screens. I was struggling prior to this... I have been a patient of Dr. Mathews since we moved here "at the turn of the century". I was immediately impressed with the THOROUGHNESS of my eye exam. My dr. in CNY, every year, told me I needed a new prescription. What most impressed me about Dr. Mathews, is that he takes the time to go over the results of your eye exam, and then the honesty that my prescription has remained the same for the past several years. He explained that when he went to a weaker or stronger prescription, I couldn't see the letters as clearly. My best vision was with my current prescription. And then I get a thank-you letter, personally signed by Dr. Mathews, within a week. I have (and will continue to do so) highly recommend Dr. Mathews.
