When Dr. Beane tested my eyes, she was knowledgeable, easy going, and patient. Dr. Mathews would be happy to know that the new inhabitant of his exam room is as wonderful as he was! She adjusted my new prescription for my astigmatism. No more wavy or blurry intermittent lines. She also explained why cataract surgery wasn't necessary at this time. I don't mind waiting! Kimberlee was fantastic in the lens and frames department. She helped both of us pick out frames, went over our insurance to help us choose features, and checked us out. We went to another optometrist last year, thinking no one could replace Dr. Mathews. We did not know about Dr. Beane. If we had known, we would never have left. Now, we will definitely be back.

But he also has crazy space age equipment that easily takes pictures of your eyes - eliminating my need for dilation. He explains everything to you and is wonderfully thorough. I have been going there 5 years and I've never once encountered a crabby or incompetent person. (Try to say THAT about any other business!) Unfortunately I am moving out of state and I'm so sad to leave him and his office. Icing on the cake he went out of his way to say, 'Well if this might be the last time you are in this office, let's get a copy of all your records together so you have them for your next eye doctor.' And he personally printed all of the records out, put them in an envelope writing 'eye info' on the outside. It's just service that you don't get in many places anymore. I hope leaving this Yelp review as a move away will eventually help someone find this great eye doctor!!

I went to Dr. John Myers in Clearwater Fl to have my eye annual exam. The optometrist gave me a…read moreprescription that I even questioned about it being better than my old glasses. I then took the prescription and had the lenses and frame made. When I received them, Something was severely wrong. I called them and they said you just need to try them for a while and get use to the new prescription After trying them unsuccessfully for the next few weeks but could never wear them for more than 5-10 minutes, I finally gave up and went back for another eye exam at Dr John Meyers. I was told I would have to pay for the eye exam before they would proceed. I figured OK I'll work this out with Dr. Myers afterwards if we find a problem. The second optometrist found that the first prescription prescribed diagnosed my vision incorrectly ( by so many factors they were unusable) and gave me a new prescription. Dr. Myers would not take responsibility for his optometrist to make such a horrible mistake. I fought with these lenses for over a month and now I have to spend another $500 to replace them and had to pay for the second exam, stay away from this optometrist. His ethics and attitude are so poor he should be investigated. Who has $500 to throw away on a bad pair of glasses? (Dr Meyers?) What's going on with basic healthcare?

This place is busy! The wait time was LONG.... The TV played 'The Shaggy DA" over & over again -…read moreyes, the Disney version. Glasses selection for their advertised 'deals' are NOT very attractve (any frame under $69 - good luck with that). So if you're going for a little more modern look or bling, take your checkbook with you. The ad that brought me in was $149 for Contact Lense exam, 2 boxes of contacts and a pair of glasses. Granted, I wear progressive, so I expected an upcharge. I hated their 'included frame selectioin' (of course), so chose another frame that cost more. My bill ended up being $369 - alrighty then. However, Bert is extremely charming as he tells you the new price of your visit. Loved Dr. Lockwood. Effecient, very nice, explained some of the different tests she was doing. Awesome. Susan was great too. She did my initial tests and finalized paperwork. Very personable and professional. The place is DIRTY! I highly recommend they use a good cleaning service at least once a month. The lab sink where Dr. L had me wash my hands (to put in my contacts) was gross. It needs a good soak in vinegar to get all of the hard water chunks off.

I had a very frustrating experience at the Optical Outlets in New Port Richey this morning,…read morespecifically with an employee named Raul. From the beginning, he attempted to upcharge me over $350 for services and products that did not match my insurance coverage. After questioning everything and verifying directly with my insurance company, I ended up paying only $20. That kind of discrepancy is unacceptable and highly misleading. I had already provided my insurance information the day before, so there was no excuse for the confusion. Raul gave me incorrect information multiple times, including claiming I had multiple insurance plans (I only have one) and insisting my copay was $50 when I knew it was $10. I had to call my insurance myself and have my benefits faxed over just to correct what he was telling me. He also told me I could only pick glasses from three specific display sections. When I asked another employee, I was informed I could choose from the entire store--completely contradicting Raul. As a 15-year combat veteran, I value honesty, professionalism, and respect. Unfortunately, this experience reflected none of those qualities. Customers should not have to fact-check employees or fight to avoid being overcharged. This was a very disappointing and stressful experience, and I strongly encourage management to address this situation. Transparency and accurate information should be standard practice, not something customers have to demand.
