There are so many places now that you can go to which offer differing services but this time I plumped for Boots. A friendly welcome on a cold afternoon was nice and the service matched that from start to finish. from the assistant who gave me honest opinion of frames I tried on to the optimistist who conducted my very thorough eye test. The store had recently been refurbished but was damaged by a fire in the hotel above it so is currently closed. I do hope they reopen it as the servie they provide (somewhere between high street chain and local optician) is hard to beat.

A large selection of frames cover almost every inch of wall and they will leave you time to look around before getting down to the business of what to choose. While they always offer all they have they are never too insistent with the sales patter and take your word for it that when you say no thanks. They are a professional outfit, where it is obvious that all staff are well trained. They have a great range of glasses and my contact lenses always arrive promptly. I have found them to be flexible and accomodating when I have needed to change appointment and when I have damaged lenses and needed an emergency appointment.
