A newspaper delivery service is on offer from here but because of this everytime you turn up around the end of school there are hoards of school children gathered waiting for their mates to turn up or buying their sweet fix for on the way home. This makes driving in the small road it is built on very difficult and becuase of this I do avoid the shop during these times. However at other times it is so convenient and you can park outside to pop in for your newspaper and sweets. Newsagents help to form part of our community and because of this I would always try to support as much as I caould these small business's and Rookwood news is one of those places! However

The shop also has a small selection of cards for various occasions such as weddings, birthdays and new borns. The shop also offer a small range of toys on sale. The shop is also well known and used by locals by its huge range of sweets. The shop has a large area of old fashioned sweets where you can go in and ask for a quarter of your favourites! It is fantastic and I regularly pop in for a quarter of white mice! The staff are very friendly and helpful!

Mitchells has been in the same place in the centre of the High Street for many years and is still…read morerun by the same family. There is parking outside so it is easily accessible. It is fairly basically laid out, they have a huge range of newspapers and magazines on display as you would expect and they also have quite a large stock of gift cards. At the main counter there is also a wide choice of sweets and chocolates to tempt you and they have a freezer where they stock and sell ice creams and lollies. They have quite a few paper boys and girls who cover quite a substantial area of Northallerton daily delivering papers and magazines, and if they haven't got it in stock and its something you want they will endeavour to track it down for you.
