Charlie loves open spaces, and Opie's offers a large, cozy lounge-like area that gives him plenty of room to relax and roam. He also has access to their outdoor space, where he can happily run around and enjoy himself. I also really appreciate that Opie's carefully screens all dogs through a meet-and-greet process. It gives me peace of mind knowing that Charlie is in a safe, well-managed environment with other dogs who are a good fit. It's clear they prioritize safety and harmony for every pup in their care. I've used both their day care service and overnight boarding, and every time, the staff has been incredibly attentive to Charlie's needs--especially when it comes to feeding and following any instructions I provide. On days when I couldn't walk Charlie over myself, their pet taxi service made things so easy by picking him up and dropping him off. The staff truly feels like family. They greet Charlie with warmth and excitement every time, and he responds with just as much joy--he's always thrilled to see them! I was a trial customer and my miniature dachshund came back from the afternoon shaking. When my housekeeper was asked why she claimed she saw most of the staff on their phones. She also thinks a few of the staff might have still been in high school. There were also apparently multiple dogs in crates and howling at time of pick up as well. From what I have seen of the facility it seems like dogs run wild there and the staff doesn't do much more than lock them up or let them loose. read more

Opie's Outpost is a great! Taylor, one of the co-owners, has been a great trainer and walker for my dog, Penny, as well as being very helpful as he is flexible in accommodating my unpredictable work schedule. He has a done a great job improving Penny's behavior on leash and around other dogs. Many people, from neighbors to friends, have told me they have seen a marked improvement in Penny's behavior since she started training and walking with Taylor. I also have seen an improvement. Furthermore, I always feel assured and confident that Penny is in safe hands when she's with Taylor. Lastly, my dog, Penny, really loves Taylor. She is always very happy during her time with Taylor and when we run into him in the neighborhood, she is excited to see him and runs up to him to get pets. read more

BEST GROOMER. The care and consideration here... I can't actually express how amazing this place is. "Full service" doesn't remotely describe it. They LOVE my dog Pocky. And everyone's dog, and your dog. The way you do. Particularly Taylor, the co owner. He's on his feet from early morning to night, diligently caring for dogs in the neighborhood, training them, walking them--he remembers every single one's name. And he seems to be first-name friends with every neighbor and shopkeeper in town. I don't usually describe anyone as a "pillar of the community" but that's what he is. He's one in a hundred million. They shaved my mini poodle (entire body+face) without asking. (When we dropped off our dog there, we did a chart asking for a medium-short hair cut) My dog got extremely anxious and stressed out after the grooming and had days of diarrhea. It led to internal bleeding and we ended up in an emergency clinic for dehydration. When I called this spot to ask how they ended up literally shaving our dog's hair, they didn't really answer my question. I asked for a refund or partial refund but they said it was my fault that I didn't leave a medical note. And they told me to get a vet's note as an evidence their grooming caused the dehydration. Just don't go here. Small non shedding breeds experiencing trauma after being completely bald is a common sense for any dog professionals. They are ignorant and irresponsible. Plus, my dog didn't have serious mattings. I brush her every two days. read more

Just wanted to shout out this place because they are such a wonderful addition to the community. I have been meaning to write a review for a while now just having been so amazed at the speed at which I witnessed the idea for the place turn into a functioning much used and beloved institution in Bedstuy! I've used them a few times for my ridiculous dog, thanks to our experience with Taylor in the past as a dog walker. We see him all over the neighborhood training dogs, he remembers every dog's name and all the particularities of each one. Though we have switched back to our regular dog sitter - who was recovering from a leg injury - I cannot express how much it meant to be to be able to drop off my dog in a pinch and know that she would be getting the excellent care and watchful eye of Taylor! read more

BEWARE! NEGLIGENT DOG WALKER LOST OUR DOG! Their dog walker failed to leash our dog properly. Our dog had a harness on, but was only clipped into his loose collar, and got loose at some point on their walk. We received a call over an hour after the walk was supposed to have ended that our dog had gotten loose, and he was lost. We rushed home and did not receive any apology or acknowledgement of wrongdoing by the owner, Stephanie, just his collar and leash. We were asked where our dog may go, and were told she was sending walkers to check on those spots -- upon speaking with staff at a local shop, we learned that nobody came in to speak with them and alert them to be on the lookout for our dog. Throughout the night, I had to call Stephanie every hour to check in to see what was going on - she acted as if this was a normal occurrence, assured me that my dog would be found by the local police (??), and that he'd be found. She knew an awful lot about her other client's missing dogs, so I think unfortunately this may be a common occurrence. Our dog was discovered the next day at the local ACC by a friend who was monitoring the site and not by anyone from Opie's Outpost. The kind, caring people who found our dog had posted on local social media-- why weren't staff Opie's monitoring all areas or in touch with the Brooklyn ACC? Overall I am disgusted by the lack of ownership taken by the business owner. They were not transparent with timing and how our dog got loose or any efforts to try to locate our dog. They paid for a vet checkup, other than that they have not reached out once to see how our dog is doing. While they seem kind and compassionate, I do not believe they know what they are doing and should not be responsible for the care of anyone's pets. read more

We love Opie's!! The staff is so kind and really invested in the dogs. We've been taking our dog Fred there for over a year and are always amazed at how caring they are. I got to observe the environment when we did a test run for our dog and there are many staff members working so the dogs get a lot of attention and the staff knows all of the different personalities of the regulars and are so attentive. Fred always leaves happy. Opie's is very professional and well run and we are so grateful that it's so close by. Highly recommend! read more

I was over the moon when Opies outpost first opened, and still am. The convenience of the location, the wonderful people who work at Opies and the cute smile on my pups face when I go to pick him up. My old pup is always excited to make his way there and conveniently tuckered when I pick him up. He has spent a few stints boarding with Opies and is well taken care of. The staff is lovely and always welcoming. ands down the best daycare, boarding, training and grooming facility in Brooklyn. I drive my pup over from Cobble Hill to board here whenever I leave town. The staff is incredibly caring, attentive, responsible and you can tell they truly love the dogs. They're careful to screen and socialize your dog before accepting them which makes me feel reassured that all the dogs there are well socialized. I love that someone sleeps there with the dogs overnight. Love these folks! read more

I met Taylor from Opie's Outpost last week and he was AMAZING. I was in Herbert Von King park last week and found a dog that had been very poorly treated and set free. Luckily, the dog was friendly and some friends and I were able to coax him to a leash and some food. Taylor, a friend of some friends, met with the dog THE NEXT DAY as a favor to us and the community. He assessed the dogs behavior, walked him around the neighborhood, helped us cut his nails, and gave us invaluable resources in our process of trying to get him rescued and rehomed. I'm so grateful for his time and his expertise!! Opie's outpost is a lucky place to have him there and I will be glad to take my dog there anytime knowing he's there helping our community. read more

Wow, what can I say.. This place is an amazing oasis in the heart of Brooklyn. This place has everything you can need for your pet.. From supplies to boarding, walking and grooming, it's literally one stop shopping for you dog.. We keep our dogs here on a regular basis and they never want to come home. There is a beautiful outdoor space as well as plenty of room inside for when the weather gets inclement. The owners are passionate, caring and just super dog people.. We have tried a few other walking options over the years and I have never seen my dogs more happy or cared for.. I can not say enough good things, I highly recommend. read more

They volunteered a full refund the day after the incident but proceeded to gaslight for 3 months. we had to go in person and have a verbal interaction where she yelled and slammed things around trying to intimidate us. I found the owner to be dismissive and erratic. Hours after pickup from Opies my dog was visibly ill and struggling to walk. later that day she passed away, I was assured "seemed fine" while at Opies Yet the vet said it was clear she had contracted kennel cough and it had been developing for days. the owner the. promised a full refund and then hung up when I called to ask about it. I was patient and didn't push the issue expecting to receive the funds. Three months later and nothing. I ended up going in, was treated with immense disrespect and bizarre lack of empathy. The experience of having boarded my dog here and her subsequently falling I'll is one of the biggest regrets of my life. If you value kindness, empathy, or any microcosm of respect do not board your animal here. read more

If I had a few things to say I would say it would be, unprofessional, disorganized and unsanitary. Several days ago, I went to pick up my dog from a full day session. I get off work and I'm excited to see her after a long day. When I walk in, I go toward the back section to see where my dog is and I witness dog urine and feces all over the floor with dogs stepping in it and tracking it all over the place (this wasn't a one time occurrence, I've witnessed this on several occasions). I also noticed that the staff on shift were playing on their phones not paying attention to the dogs. I then wait for my dog to be leashed and brought up front. However, the black and white dog in the front register area, (the owner, Stephanie's dog) upon seeing her, attacks my dog randomly and leaves a cut in her snout! I was shocked that I had to deal with this after a long day. After this happens, the owner Stephanie just laughs it off as if nothing had happened. I promptly walked out and never looked back! If you care about your pet's well being, I would recommend you look elsewhere. read more

It's great to finally have something in the neighborhood that's a bit of a one -stop shop; but mainly for training and walking purposes. I have a 2 year old rescue who is terrified of all of Brooklyn's loud noises (trucks, skateboards, cars in the rain!) and Taylor was so helpful in providing some tools and tips to help us better navigate that. It is great having someone who can not only get her the exercise she needs on walks, but reinforces that training and tests the waters for how she'll handle certain situations. With my crazy schedule, we haven't had a chance to work with Taylor consistently, but I look forward to booking him far out now that my schedule is less hectic. read more

Let me start off by saying that my dog is not the easiest dog to handle. She's a sweet but anxious rescue that definitely needs special attention. Whenever my wife and I leave town we can do so with a huge sense of relief knowing that Taylor is watching her. We've never seen someone outside of us who has the ability to keep her so focused and calm(calm for her). He's communicative and sends pictures when we get separation anxiety. He always goes the extra mile and helps with drop offs when we have late flights. Also always offers tips for how we can better manage and correct behaviors. He's the best! So glad we have him and the Opie's team for our boarding needs. read more

incredibly grateful to have Opie's in the neighborhood! we had tried a couple other daycares previously but Opie's blows them all out of the water. there are multiple people supervising the pups and they keep the group smaller/more manageable which ensures the dogs are all getting more individualized attention & care. also - this is the only place where at the meet & greet you get a walk through tour of the entire facility (great outdoor space btw). i truly do believe they care for and love all of the dogs like they are their own. this is Boris' go to spot from here on out :) read more

My experience yesterday at Opie's was top notch, totally unexpected, and so appreciated. It has been difficult trying to find this kind of quality establishment these days. Jasmine did a perfect job grooming my yorkie and Stephanie was incredibly attentive and kind. On top of that, the appointment lasted no longer than an hour for the deluxe grooming spa and was an amazing price! I could go on.
