Not as good as it should be. ER doctors aren't their's, they are contracted and separate entities…read more The ER is typical of them..crowded, you get lost in the queue and quality of care is hit or miss. When my Dr went in for an emergency, complicated back problems, top notch (thank goodness) and was admitted to Barrows for surgery with the neurosurgeon highly rated and a concerned doctor giving my daughter a chance...and what an excellent doctor! Still a better hospital than any Banner so I'd recommend them out of that alone, but their rating is in the toilet concerning me.

Don't love this hospital. The nurses we have encountered were amazing.... All of them! Not a single…read morecomplaint. All were attentive and helpful when in need. Nurses aside, the rest of the staff has question marks. Let's start with the gestapo ICE wannabes sitting in the emergency room that ask you what you are doing there and then tell you to go stand in line. They cannot hear a thing behind that stupid glass. Just cover your face like your heroes and get rid of the glass. The doctors all seem concerned on what happened on a test 5 years ago so much more so than a current test result. The high blood pressure from 5 years ago has already been addressed... as you can tell by the current readings. As a visitor, one day I walk in freely and go where I want, no questions asked. The next day a dude runs me down like he's a free safety to tell me he has to check me in and give me a designer paper bracelet to wear. If the free safety is correct, the day 1 staff should be fired for dereliction of duty. Why is it not possible to assume that anybody not in a hospital gown is a visitor? Why is the bracelet necessary? Somebody got paid to come up with this idea.

Here I am, another hospital with a 3 rating and I cannot understand why…read more I checked in as I visited a friend in the Intensive Care Unit. Between Phoenix Fire and Banner staff, they just keep my friend alive. He keeps living and working as his life ticks away. That's fine, he has incredible skills. Arriving at the right place, the ICU waiting area had a crush of emotional people raising humidity in the area about 20 percent. It was not a good scene. Would they rate 1 because all the immense knowledge, nursing skill and technology could not save the person on the ward? After I passed some fairly intense questioning on the entry phone I was allowed to pass through. My friend, much better than Sunday. I did not notice the gown/glove requirement in the sum light. Within 3 minutes, Sherrie's tailoring service had me measured and dressed in fine quality blue virgin vinyl and latex formal gloves. My friend looked like a spider in his web of tubes. I slipped him a nice looking cheesecake and strawberry cup from the East Entry coffee shop. He was delighted, but Dulce de Leche is his favorite. We spoke. I left at dusk. I was confused between Towers 1 and 2. Jasmine, hospital employee getting off shift, heloed me get to the Donation Tree hallway. Thank you Jasmine. A Daisy for you. I returned to my car in the parking garage, paid my $6, returned home safely.

It's a lot to physically and mentally navigate the challenges of major surgery but the nurses and doctors made my entire experience pleasant, professional, and safe. There was never a time when I felt out of the loop as my recovery progressed and what tests and medicines were added to my daily routine. All the staff on the 17th Floor were amazing. Every RN, PCA, Doctor, support staff, and housekeeping were highly attentive to my needs. The only critique I would say is that sometimes I'd be missing an item or two of my meals. I was served breakfast, lunch, and dinner that was preordered via link to my phone. 90% of the time, my meals arrived with everything that I requested and the other times they were missing without explanation. Other than that, this is a 100 star hospital. I trust Banner University Medical for all my medical needs.

I mean how many hospitals can you go into and actually get shrimp for a meal? A friend took me over to visit today and after visiting we went down to the cafeteria. Everything looked so good. My friend got polenta and I got turkey tetrazzini. The food is excellent. The atmosphere and the care was great for a heart patient. They monitor him & yet get him up to walk. He is extremely pleased with the care he is kidding. He is a heart patient. Evidently I don't understand what type of care he is getting. 2 weeks ago he was in ICU and they have removed him for ICU so I take it that he is getting excellent care.

I had no choice but to sit in the chair and wait in pain and tears, what was supposed to be 5 minutes turned into 40 minutes waits. I was finally called to be taken to the back, only to be seated in another chair with a nurse that had none of my information from paramedics and asked the same questions that I gave the fire department and the paramedics. By now I've been in extreme pain for about 5 hours, I'm having anxiety and I'm type one diabetic. She leaves, the provider comes in, same thing same questions that I just gave the nurse 2 minutes before. I'm now irritated and upset and want to leave. When she saw that I was upset she said she didn't know anything about why I was there and she can leave and come back when I calm down! repeated myself again. She left the room. I discharged myself without having to wait another god knows how long for treatment. Very disappointed with the service and treatment. I will never be going to any Honor Healt.

After getting checked in for a possible broken elbow, vitals were taken and MD examined. We were told the xray tech was in with someone and we would be next. We sat there for over an hour (I can't imagine one set of X-rays took an hour). X-rays were finally taken in less than 5 mins. Then after sitting another 30 mins, I asked how long it would be until someone could look at the xray. I was told "this is the part that takes a while" and that I "was lucky they were still on the day schedule because the night time wait time can be up to 4 hours." We waited about 20-30 mins then asked again how long it would be. They couldn't give me a TAT so we got up and left. We were there for over 2.5 hours to have 3 X-rays taken. And who knows how much longer it would have taken to have someone read the X-rays. I don't believe there were a large number of patients there at the time. The parking lot only had a few cars, waiting room was empty and the nurses desk outside the exam room had the same nurses/techs/MDs sitting there our entire wait. Their website says little to no wait. How healthcare should be. That was not my experience at all.

It was also very easy to contact him via the honorhealth website when I needed to change the location for my MRI. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. If you are experiencing a true medical emergency,…read moreyou will not be treated safely or fairly. I arrived at the emergency department under extreme physical distress with a suspected bowel blockage, severe cramping, and dehydration. I was forced to wait for over four hours in a lobby packed with visibly ill patients who were completely ignored. The staff did nothing but check initial vitals and then left everyone stranded, repeatedly saying "we will have a bed when it's available" with zero updates for hours. When I calmly approached the front desk to ask for an update after watching multiple miserable patients give up and walk out, the clerk gave me a massive attitude. She dismissively told me the ER is split into "trauma" and "regular" departments. A progressive internal blockage carries a high risk of life-threatening complications and should have been prioritized promptly, but they treated it like a minor inconvenience. Because my condition was actively worsening and the staff showed a complete lack of urgency, I was forced to leave for my own safety. When I told them I was leaving, they didn't even offer a basic apology. Instead, they literally threw an Against Medical Advice (AMA) liability paper at me to sign. I had to risk my own safety driving nearly 30 minutes in severe pain to find a facility that actually cared. I ended up going to a freestanding emergency center nearby where I was taken back to a room immediately and received excellent, professional care. This hospital's front-desk staff is incredibly unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely desensitized to human suffering. Avoid this place at all costs if you value your health.
