I went here with my dad when I first moved to Rochester and I thought it was pretty good. This time, I brought my wife and we were pretty disappointed all around. The food was okay, nothing too special. The ambience was pretty terrible - some of the employees were sitting in the dining area watching a telenovela. Our waitress was so engrossed in it that, when I called her to our table, she didn't even hear us. Beyond that, at one point someone from the kitchen put a bucket of cleaning solution and a mop in the middle of the dining area and the potent cleaning solution smell flooded the entire area - try eating a spicy gyro when all you can smell is cleaning solution, yuck! I, of course, asked the waitress and she immediately moved the bucket to the other side of the dining area (so it took a few minutes for us to smell it again...) Otherwise, the waitress was very polite and she smiled often. Aside from the one time I called her and she wasn't paying any attention, she gave us good service. I wouldn't recommend this place and we won't be going back there. read more

My first dining experience at a Greek restaurant was great! A friend and I were in town for a couple of appointments at Mayo Clinic and wanted to try food we don't have near where we live. Having never tried anything other than gyros, I decided to give Opa Opa a try. The restaurant was spotless and the waitress very friendly and attentive. I opted for the Shish-ka-bob Platter for 1, choosing lamb and beef for the meats. My friend had the Three Gyro Tacos. I was pleasantly surprised by the large portions for the price. Having never eaten lamb before I was a little hesitant on the first bite but it was delicious! With the exception of the tzatziki sauce and the grilled beef everything on my plate was new to me. I am now a great fan of Greek food. If I'm ever in Rochester again I will definitely return to try other menu items. Wish there was a location nearer to me. read more

Having octopus!!! Crazy but I actually like it. I'm having the spicy gyro too and it is excellent. They also serve alcohol. Everything is real inexpensive. It's a funny little place that you would never expect to be so good. I highly recommend you try them. read more

The chef at the very popular Zorba's in town left, [even the building is now demolished after it went through varied owners] and started the very good Mexican restaurant El Carambas across the parking lot. He then converted the gas station on the lot into Opa! Opa! My wife and I like Greek food, come here from time to time, and always enjoy the dinners. I particularly enjoy the lamb. read more

Very cute establishment with that shock blue everywhere and all the knick nacks. Got a kick out of the friendly staff that may have been transported from the Mexican joint across the way (pretty sure it's the same great owner who get down in the trenches serving, cleaning, hosting, you name it). Food is pretty good and I was surprised that the gyro plate came with homemade chips, which were super yummy! I wasn't so sure about the soup when I ordered, but it was so good that my picky three year old ate it too! The table next to us had some fried cheese dish that brought an entertaining, out-of-nowhere shout of "Opa!" Will definitely venture here again with its small friendly casual and fast atmosphere. read more

I stumbled across this place on a business trip. I ordered the vegetarian platter and a side of Greek fries to go. When I got to the hotel and opened the containers I was pleasantly surprised. The spread was insane! Lots of options with the vegetarian platter and the food was just as good as any I've had in Greece or by my own Yiayia! The spanakopita and tiropita were flakey, buttery and flavorful. The rice was hot and full of flavor. The salad, feta and olives were perfect. The tomatoes were red and ripe and made me happy. The pita was hot and had a nice crispness to it. All of the side dips were popping with flavor and spices. When I saw the fries I was shocked because they were just very thinly sliced potatoes. But when I popped them into my mouth I was blown away. Salt, pepper and oregano, with a hint of olive oil and lemon. They're a flavor powerhouse!! I saved some food for tomorrow but I wish I had more time in town to go back and try more food!!! Go to Opa! Opa! if you're in Rochester!!! read more

I was sure the food would be delicious based on everyone else's reviews. Unfortunately OPA OPA gave our delivery driver the wrong food so we were missing 3 of 4 of the things we ordered. When I called them to let them know, the manager claimed the delivery service had sent them the wrong order and they had never seen an order with the food we had selected. He graciously offered to make up an order of the food we wanted and to let us come pick it up AND pay for it again. So I called the delivery service. They were able to confirm that they had sent the correct order to the restaurant and offered to refund us or have the correct order redelivered. We were hungry so we asked for redelivery. The manager called me back and suddenly was upset about the mixup and let me know that the food would be redelivered. Second time around, the order was STILL wrong. Don't get me wrong, the food we got was delicious. However, the attitude of the manager was unreal and unnecessary. I would hate to be in restaurant with a complaint. read more

I had the food delivered to my hotel while in town. Being a vegetarian, chose the Fakes Me Spanaki soup and the Fasolatha & Rice entree. The soup was very average - it had nothing but beans and no seasoning, while the menu clearly states it is supposed to have tomatoes, onions, etc. The entree was delightful though, hence the 3 stars. read more

First time here. Just here in Minnesota visiting family. Saw this place from HWY 14 and immediately detoured over. Very clean and the decor is of Greek culture. Customer service is above reproach as well. Highly recommend the basic Gyro plate to the novice. This place brought back memories of being in Crete and the island of Corfu. read more

If in town again I would skip this restaurant because in addition to slow and disorderly service, the food was just okay, which means we ate it and looked at each other and agreed we would not go back. The falafel was on the dry side and lacked the herbs that make it flavorful-- it also seemed to have a lot of fillers. The lentil soup was bland-- not what was described on the menu (no veggies were to be found) -- and salt and pepper made it edible but not desirable. The staff, except one woman, seemed disinterested and screwed up our order by bringing our food to a different table. This made us wait a long time for food not worth waiting for. read more
