Fantastic European thin crust style pizza in Hong Kong! My brother and I were in HKG for a couple…read moredays and decided to stop by this place. Out of all the pizzerias in HKG this one was towards the top in terms of taste. We had a soppressata piccante and cremini mushroom along with a meatballs appetizer. The soppressata was my favorite since it combined just enough spice with the savory sausage/tomato. The cremini mushroom was fantastic as well yet a little too sweat for my taste. One thing that could have been improved upon was the wetness of the pizza crust toward the middle. When you have a thin crust pizza it's difficult to have a perfectly dry crust all the way through, especially when tomato sauce is the main component. However, this didn't detract from the taste. The meatballs we ordered came out a bit late so the host was very generous to give us the option of complimentary pizza bread or garlic bread. The garlic bread was perfect for mopping up the tomato sauce from the meatballs! As the night progressed we found ourselves the last ones in the restaurant and got the know the manager better. Before we knew it we were way past closing time exchanging interesting thoughts about HKG, Nepal, and the restaurant ownership group over limoncello liquor. Overall the hospitality, service, and taste of the food was great! Highly recommend if you're looking for pizza in HKG.

Along with some outstanding toppings. Add that to the cold beer they have on tap, and you have a quite enjoyable meal. The manager came over and spoke to us. Emmer Pizzeria was right nearby and it looked solid -- I was a little skeptical of getting pizza so close to all the hotels (I was expecting the really good stuff to be elsewhere in HK). But wow -- this was solid pizza. The crust was excellent. Had a great crunch and crisp to it. The cheese was melted well and had an excellent texture and taste. Lastly, the sauce was delicious. I wanted to get one of the more adventurous combos but there weren't a ton of other veggie options. Would definitely come here again!!! It was delicious. One small complaint -- the staff were a bit slow, but this was also me being there pretty early for their lunch menu. It's a fairly nice place as well. It's a mix of a cafe/pizzeria so almost has a Starbucks vibe to it as well.

Motorino is hands down my favorite pizza restaurant…read more I've been to multiple locations of Motorino, both in HK and NYC, and it's always consistent. A little expensive for pizza, but since I do not eat it often, I think it's well worth it. The brussel sprout pizza is my favorite, and unique (I've never seen it at another pizza place). I'm also into any pizza with prosciutto now it. Make sure to save room for dessert - the cheesecake is fantastic.

Having been there multiple times, I was a bit surprised when on this recent visit is when they handed us a stamped loyalty card. I asked our sweet server if this was something new and she said no. I asked her why they didn't inform us of that on our previous visits and she, of course, didn't have an answer, but politely mentioned she's seen us before and that's why she gave it to us. The pizzas are good. They've added cocktails recently here, I reckon. Their menu keeps changing. The one time we had antipasti there - smoked eggplant, my jaw was on the floor with the price to portion size proportion, more because the taste disappointed as well. But the good news is that their pizzas don't disappoint. As with other Blacksheep Restaurants, they have the friendliest of staff. Pictures on the blog - thevegetarianvoyager

Finally, I tried it and must admit, it was really tasty pizza. I would argue possibly the best in HK, except for the NYC style at Linguini Fini. The crust was damn near perfect: slightly crispy on the outside and light on the inside without being too chewy. We split a half mushroom and caramelized onion and half margarita. The hint of sweetness of the caramelized onions was nice even though I usually prefer fresh onions instead. Even the margarita was surprisingly good. Already looking forward to my next visit - definitely my new place to satisfy any pizza craving!

The lunch specials are a decent deal, pizzas ranging from 60-70 HKD including a free soft drink! The pizza itself was pretty small--I'm glad that I ordered a small side salad otherwise it wouldn't have been enough. I also opted for a pizza special - the caprese. It was literally just a flatbread with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and balsamic drizzle. It wasn't really a pizza in the traditional sense - I was hoping for a tomato sauce base. But it was tasty enough. I asked about a special and the waiter didn't seem to know what came on the Mediterranean pizza, and seemed perplexed as to why I was asking...Other than that the service was relatively attentive. Overall a good value and a relatively quiet lunch option in the western part of central.

We walked around the Causeway Bay Area and noticed on the Fashion Walk sign a list of restaurants. Wildfire Pizzabar and Grill was at the end of the block of Paterson Street around the corner. The pizza was thin crust and only comes in one size, the beef was so tender and flavourful and it was just enough food for us. They offer beer, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. For $88, only $10 more than the no alcohol drinks, I went with the lemongrass lychee mojito. It was light and refreshing. After 2:30 p.m. they have a special menu, all-you-can-eat for two which is a platter and beer or pop. The staff speak English very well and offered great service! My favorites were their shiitake white pizza and their salted egg yolk carbonara! For the pizza, the white sauce was well seasoned, creamy, and cheesey. There were also generous pieces of shittake and the truffle aroma from the truffle oils was pretty prominent. The salted egg yolk carbonara was a nice mix of Chinese salted egg and traditional Italian egg yolk. You could definitely taste the salted egg yolk but it wasn't too strong, especially when mixed with the famililar bacon and cream flavors. The spaghetti was cooked al dente :) I also want to give a shoutout for their condiments and popcorn shrimp. They have this self serve condiments section by the bar and one of the chili oil is a fusion twist on Cantonese XO sauce that mixes Italian pepperoni. It was super fragrant and just the right level of spice! The popcorn shrimp was also a nice appetizer. I'm not a huge fan of smaller shrimp but they do a good job of coating it in a light batter and in their own slightly tangy sauce, which has a mix of mayo and sriracha. Overall would definitely recommend if you're in soho/central!

However, for folks living in Hong Kong who are too desperate to care, it has become a de-facto option, which is made easier by virtue of being a local chain. I have been on both ends of this spectrum and I still cringe at the thought of settling for any of their pies, let alone a slice. Out of all the locations, this Paisano's stands out for being open late and having prime location along Hollywood Road. Drunken expats are usually in here hamming it up for a slice or two and I am sad to say that I've been amongst this crowd before. There would be lines out of the door on any given weekend late night and a steady flow of peeps chowing away during the day. I give them props for having very large portions. Their large pizza pie (24 inches) is massive, even for American standards. It doesn't come cheap either, which at 230-340HKD (#1) is not exactly a great deal. While the pizza is thin enough to be folded like a true New York slice, the rest of it is a tough sell. It's doughy, laden with a bland sauce, and a kind of greasy cheese that doesn't scream quality at all. It's heavy stuff, which works for the gut bomb that drunkenness can create but is not pleasurable by any means. To add to the mediocrity, I've been disappointed with their subs, which range from 70-85HKD for a 12 inch. Portion wise it's packed, but unfortunately it's less protein and lots of lettuce, tomato, olives, and a slathering of mayo + some house sauce. The calzones don't fare much better, which steeped in cheese but is greasy and still incredibly bland. The late night service is super lackluster and I've found a little more civility in the daytime group. I've learned the brand is popular with the Nepalese community in HK and as a result much of the staff is fluent in Nepali (#2) but not so much in Canto. I can't speak to delivery but I'll pass on Paisano's during my next HK go-around. ___________ (#1) The equivalent of $30-42 USD. (#2) Which is pretty dope.
