My daughter's first experience in the "dancing world" was challenging for the both of us to navigate but Mrs. Ricky and the amazing choreographers at Onstage have been nothing but positive and helpful. They are so welcoming to dancers of any level. They offer a wide variety of technical classes as well as conditioning classes. If your child needs extra attention they have a list of teachers that offer private lessons. If you choose to sign up for the recital at the end of the recreational year (highly recommended) you won't regret it. They showcase all their hard work at the beautiful Downey Theatre which I believe only highlights our girls dreams and ambitions. They shine so bright in the quality of the costumes they require you to buy. No attention to detail goes unnoticed. I love me some onstage but are you kidding? the prices this year have raised drastically this year. I've paid over $1,000, just for my child to not improve every class. id rethink about putting your child here. all they care about it money and they added a teachers fee. wow onstage do better. read more

My daughter has ballet class here and the staff is absolutely amazing. They're so sweet and patient. My daughter was really shy when she started and they were understanding and told me not to give up. Two years later after my first review. My daughter still dances there, she is part of the Senior Co. now. The staff there Miss Kelly, Miss Liz, Miss Alicia, Miss Lesley and Miss Casey completely teach and nurture my daughter. Next to me, they are my daughter's biggest fans. For anyone who is hating on technique and how things are taught, ODC has many students attending performing arts schools, and special summer programs with ABA and Joefrey and being part of advanced high school dance teams. Where do I start? Do I thank this company for all it has done or do I scream all that is great about it? My niece is a dancer here, this will be her 2nd year at this studio. Let me just say this place is amazing!! She wakes up and knows what dance class she has that day and is ready to go. Last year she was sick a few times and had to miss class and she actually cried, yes cried!!! The reason this is, is because the instructors are so caring. They remember everyones names and faces and their likes and dislikes. The owner is very involved as well and you can tell the kids love her. My sister and I looked into other studios and they didn't start young enough or were just not a fit for us. As soon as she made me come here, and yes she forced me to bring her here, I was sold. I could not believe I ever doubted putting my niece into these classes. I even turned into a dance mom or aunt. =) I have to give a shout out here to Miss Alicia, Miss Brittany and Miss Chantalle. They kept my niece in order but made the class fun. Not only that but they put up with my sister and I always asking questions and my nieces diva attitude. You made class a place that I even looked forward to coming to. You took my niece and made she shine! You brought her out of her shell and she just keeps growing thanks to you and the studio.Thank you ladies, you are all so amazing! This is an email we received from the owner because we made them aware that we wanted to pursue another studio in hopes of helping my daughter that suffers from anxiety. At no time did we bring down any of the teachers: I hope this email finds you well. I spoke to Miss Alicia and she mentioned that your family was unhappy at the studio. I am really sorry to hear that. I take pride in my staff and my teachers and I know that they are qualified, professional and doing a wonderful job. Both of my studios are growing and I believe that is a result of my amazing staff and their abilities. The teachers take pride in their dance routines, costumes, and of course their students. It is unfortunate that you are not happy. At this time, we feel it is best for both parties involved, if we part ways effective today, January 18, 2017. I will be mailing you a refund check for the last week of January classes. There are no refunds for the competitions. Since your dancer has already began training at another studio, you have already made the decision to not continue with ODC. It's so disappointing that even when parents try to do right by your teachers and your studio they get "slapped in the face." I was very clear with Ms. Alicia that we did not want to throw any teachers under the bus, nor was it really about your teachers. From the beginning, I made it very clear that this was about my daughter, but it seems that you are so self involved in yourself that you lack the ability to understand what a pair of caring parents tried to explain. Ms. Alicia seemed very understanding, and compassionate about the fact that change might be well for my daughter, while speaking to me, but maybe amongst yourselves her thoughts were different. It's very unfortunate that you chose to in essence kick my daughter and family out of your studio for simply trying to do whats best for my daughter and find the right fit for her at this point in time. She suffer from anxiety and since she felt she was not improving, we feared she would start crawling back into her shell which we have worked so hard to break. Also, just to clarify, my daughter took 3 trial classes at another studio, but at no time did we state she was training at another studio. Again, we are simply trying to do whats best for her, but nonetheless we wanted to do whats right by your studio and her team, which is why we wanted to finish the season. This is quite unfortunate. We really wished not to end this with any animosity, but based on this, and what I've heard from other parents, anyone that disagrees with your studio is treated with the same lack of courtesy and disrespect. Here's my experience plus pros and cons: I put my daughter here because she needs an outlet for her energy and loves to dance. I am a music teacher myself and support the fine arts to the fullest and want music in my children's lives in whatever form they choose for themselves. Positive things here since my 2 year old started here within the last year is she has loved her amazing teacher Miss Alicia greatly! All teachers here are energetic, passionate, and patient like her. When students cry because they are new or simply in that mood, the teachers are patient and encouraging up until the child really doesn't cooperate, which shows understanding. Technicalities are there and these teachers are dedicated professionals that do like competition. Teachers don't play favorites, as long the student shows improvement, they will move them up. Front desk is helpful, and informative. Family atmosphere is present. Premises are maintained very well. Prices are worth the experience and class time, which is given fully. If the teacher is going to be late or skip (rare), it's no biggie because the assistant can always take over and keep on track. You can makeup a class another day of the week! Great for us working/busy parents! Other parents are welcoming and friendly. You can choose being competitive for 3 classes a week, or non-competitive for less lessons per week, like we do. They deal with complaints fairly and consistently. Seating is ample and I sit with a book as I wait for class to end in which they always have a 5min end-of-class show and Q&A for parents, which is great. So...Cons? Safety is not reinforced as I've seen little girls get hurt while showing off moves in the lobby area already more than twice. Practice injuries are expected in this field. If this is a stepping stone to a profesional career, I would do more research than look at reviews. Front desk can be slow and still rush you along, not excellent service. Makeup and outfit styles are a bit extreme for us conservative type, which I understand as an artist in the performing arts world, but I still cringe a bit seeing my daughter in certain outfits or seeing other tiny girls in two piece sequin costumes, just my old-fashioned brain in shock repeatedly. Community-wise, they don't communicate much extra activities to the non-competitive like us and it feels like we're out of "the circle" most of the time. I've found out of past social events as other parents ask me why I didn't go when I wasn't informed. Parking is a headache, so either arrive 15-30 minutes ahead or right on time as other students leave and risk being 2min late. Be ready to spend. As in all dance companies, everything costs money: recital tickets, trophies, attire, gear, costumes, etc. Overall, I love the teacher most of all and the idea of having these activities to keep my child's mind alert, busy, and fun while learning the art of dance. It's sad that the negative reviews received have been from negative people that don't review positively anyways, this should be averaged more stars! read more

This studio is AMAZING!! From the mother's who help out at the front desk to the teachers who care for our children. This studio is open 6 days a week, they offer multiple types of dances to learn. With all the classes they teach daily, the teachers know all the names of their students and help develop their strengths and also weak points. I love this school so does my 3 year old lol we go to the creative movement class and baby hip hop and they are a blast , the teachers are wonderful i was looking for a dance school where the teachers not only knew what they were doing but were passionate with children because it really does take a special person to work with kids . I will be keeping my daughter at onstage dance center I have no complaints , prices are very reasonable and Im a single mom so money doesnt grow on trees in my house . I love the fact that there are boys in the classes as well . I really love this school cant wait till my son can be signed up as well . I dont mind the hair and makeup , its fun and its not like they are wearing that stuff everyday . This school create performers the boys and girls at this school have so much confidence more than me and im almost 25 years old ! they do their homework before class and are well behaved , this school teaches our children how to express themselves though dance . If your just looking for something to dress your child up in a tutu and jump around then I suggest you just stay at home and teach them yourselves . They actually teach children here and they do a darn good job at it ! they also have adult classes so its pretty much good for the whole family , the more classes you take the better the discount . Feeling Betrayed, Disapointed & Heartbroken! Out of a Rumor we were kicked out from onstage. Parent the reason I am writing this review is for u to visit other dance studios & recital. Our daughter had been dancing there for 3yrs. And little did we know that they were not showing her the proper technique. This is a big problem because it can cause an injury to the dancers because of the wrong way they teach our girls!!!!!Parent look around to other studios & visit other recitals. Do you reaserch. I say all this because we were kicked out like Animals....Telling us to don't come back again. Not letting my daughter say goodby to her dance Team. As a father my daughter means the world to me and what they did to my daughter I will never forget! read more

All i can say worst school my daughter ever attend they don't care about the kids just about the payments they don't teach good dance technique they just put kids in rooms were they parents can't see them ... my daughter din't want to go any more cuz my credit card was expired and we miss a payment my wife went ever there and pay cash but still they din't let my daughter take her class she was left on chair watching other girls dance since there my girl didn't want to go any more i ask for the money refund and they don't give refunds.. Worst experience ever. My daughter is autistic and I decided to engage her in new activities so i chose dancing because she loves to dance. I called and they said to bring her in that they work with kids with disabilities. Her instructor was Miss Alicia. Who is every inpatient. After a few classes she told me to bring her back later on because my daughters crying was a distraction to all the little girls. I told her my daughter wanted me in class thats why she was crying. BUT since its not fair for the other parents i could not be in the class. read more

The technique the children learn is top notch, the teachers are warm and caring toward the children and treat the children as individuals, and the owner is a wonderful woman who treats her customers as family. **IMPORTANT READ!** HORIBLE HORIBLE STUDIO!! If your planning of going on going to this studio, you better have some stacks of cash in your pursue when you walk in! This studio is all about your $$$ . The more classes you have and the more you spend, the better they'll treat you. I had been dancing in this studio for a couple of years, and all the moms are very unwelcoming. The front desk is also all about the gossip! Trust me, they will only move your child up when you pay privates, which cost like $45 for 30 minutes, and your child will be stretching for 20 minutes of your private! A regular class is 1 hour, and your child will be stretching for 45 minutes of the class!! All the teachers are also VERY rude! As well as the owner! My daughter would always tell me that all the girls are very rude as well as the moms, who once yelled at my daughter if she wanted to buy something. Me my daughter spend 4 years here and they were just years thrown away in the trash. Once we went to a new studio, I found out she was doing tap that they showed 6 year olds, and my daughter was 14! So if you wanna learn how to stretch, this is the studio for you. Stretching is the only thing they will teach your child. read more

I like to say that the instructors are very nice. My daughter enjoys her teacher very much and I think her experience has been a good one. I personally do not like the way they run the studio. As a new parent they do not inform you really well of what's going on. I don't think the staff at the front desk are friendly at all. I feel every time I ask a question they look at me like if I'm annoying them. My daughter danced at another dance studio before and I never felt that way. Everyone was very friendly, they went out of their way to make sure every parent especially the new ones knew what was going on. They had several days of warnings of what was coming up next and reminders. The sale of the recital tickets were over a few days not just one day like at Downey On Stage. Also recitals were in late June not late July which runs into the children's summer plans. read more

I recently went to my niece's dance recital and let me tell you, I was pretty impressed. My sister brags about how great this place is but seeing the dancers in action made me a fan too, and as a former competitive dance student, I was glad to see my niece is getting the proper training. While I enjoyed the cute tap number my niece was in, I was especially impressed with the high level of technique in the ballet they presented. The dance before intermission was my favorite and all of the dancers were on pointe (rare in a competitive dance studio.) They looked so professional and I'm happy my niece will get great ballet training when she's old enough. The only reason I'm giving this four stars is because I was kind of turned off by the sexy looking costumes and music choices for some of the older students. I guess I'm the conservative type and would rather see these young dancers doing more wholesome types of dances. All in all, I think my niece is is very good hands! read more
