Not satisfied with this school. When starting, we were told that there is 1 free trial to see if we like the class. Our first class was also around the start of a new month. So we paid to not be late but inquired about prorating based on the free class they offered and the lady at the front desk said she couldn't do that. I tried calling to get the owner or someone else that could authorize and it was impossible getting them. Very misleading as a first impression! Went ahead and let my two daughters start their classes. Overall, my daughters enjoyed their classes but I do feel more hands on technique should have been implemented for my eldest daughter whom was 7. I was not thrilled about their structure for the dance recitals. Yes plural! They scheduled two separate recitals for each age group (which makes sense considering the amount of kids/classes). But having them on two days did not make any sense whatsoever. For a parent with two daughters (3 and 7yrs old), that required being present 4 times on two different days. As well as purchasing tickets for all 4 recitals. The times these recitals were scheduled didn't take into consideration the younger kids' nap times, or the fact there was hardly a break in between the recitals (after family time, pictures, getting food, etc.) I tried to express my concerns about this prior to the dance recitals by calling the school to hopefully speak with the owner or someone with my authority. And sure enough, my child's teacher called me. For whatever reason, it's impossible to speak with anyone else. I shared my exact concerns (as mentioned above) and her exact response was "so what are you concerns?" Which let me further know there was a huge lack of professionalism and organization at this school. So I pulled my daughters out, following the final recital. Overall the recitals did come out nice. Just could have been set up more appropriately. But this is not a school I would recommend. read more

Downey dance center is my first experience with a dance school. My daughter is 5 and we thought this would help her with her love for dance. We go twice a week. Tap/hip hop at her classes. Each is about an hour long. Great instructors!! Very patient and great with kids. Only thing is the patient waiting room gets full so fast ! Gotta get there early! read more

Hello everyone! I would like to recommend Downey Dance Center. It is the greatest family owned dance studio ever! Teachers are so talented and have a wonderful way of teaching your child. My grand daughter started here when she was 6. She started off in Rec classes and moved up to competition teams. We took a break for a little bit, and even though we could have went to another studio, we found ourselves coming right back to DDC. My grand daughter is now 14 and she still enjoys dancing here. Unfortunately, this place was not for us. I had my 4-year old signed up for creative movement and although she really liked it; I felt as though she wasn't being taught enough nor was there any kind of enthusiasm from the teacher. I appreciated that they took time to individually teach specific dance moves to each child, but meanwhile they do that, the other students spend a good amount of time just sitting down doing nothing. The 3 stars are for affordability, cleanliness, and because my daughter liked it, but for me it wasn't worth it when I noticed how much time she spent sitting down, how unenthusiastic the teacher was, and nothing new was being taught after a few classes. read more

I found DDC through Yelp & took the chance. From her very first class to now 6 months later we absolutely love DDC. They take every precaution to keep our babies safe and happy. I have my daughter in tiny tumbling with Teacher Shae & creative movement with Miss Julie. My daughter loves her teachers as do we. So kind, patient, & professional. I can't say enough great things about DDC. My 3.5 year old just finished her first month of creative dance (half tap/half ballet) and we are in love. The staff and teachers are awesome and I had good vibes there right from the start. I appreciate the measures they are taking to ensure everyone's health and safety during COVID times- temp checks at arrival, face masks, social distancing floor stickers, hand sanitizer, mopping and cleaning the rooms between each class, etc. My daughter asks if it's dance day every single day cause she just loves it so much. We have been taking my younger one to DDC for almost 3-4 year now. It's been great. The staff is friendly and make you feel welcome as a parent. Dance teachers are really good at what they do and provide a wide range of options for your child to progress. Competition is there if that's an interest for families, but is not pressured or focused on too much so if people just want to do recreational dance that is great. I've been taking my daughter here for 5 months now. She is currently taking Ballet, Tap 2, and Tumbling. It is our first time attending a dance studio and I am very pleased we chose this one. Friendly staff and wonderful teachers. They even have a room for the parents with big TVs so they can watch our kids during their practice. They also offer private classes and monthly raffles. My daughters enjoy DDC as much as I do as their parent because the instructors are strict yet patient and caring. I have noticed how fast students progress through their program. What sold me to enroll my daughters at this studio were the productions they put together, for showcases, recitals and competitions. The routines are spectacular and the song choices are age appropriate and up to date with what's hot on today's playlists. Parking is ample and located in the same location as Jack in the Box on Bellflower and Imperial. The lobby when you first walk in is small and the waiting room with the tv monitors to watch your kids from is also small. At least there is free coffee whenever you need it. Lastly, after a long time, they finally have auto pay for tuition and private lessons so we won't forget to pay and be stuck with a $25 late fee. If you are in the area and have a little one who really enjoys dance you should inquire within and find the class that is best them. The ladies at the front desk are always nice and ready to answer all of your questions. read more

Never been here this review is purely for terrible phone customer service. I called to ask about a preschooler class after seeing on their website that they have preschooler dance classes. Someone answers the phone and I say I'm interested in enrolling my daughter in the class they offer for preschoolers. The girl in the phone says "what?" Then says "this is a dance school." I explain that I know and I'm calling about dance classes for a three year old. She says they have a Thursday toddler class. I say that per the website there is a Wednesday class and that is the class I'm interested in. She says no that there's only a Thursday class. I ask if the website is not current and she says she doesn't know. I checked the website again and it shows multiple preschool classes during the week. I'm not sure how this place is run if they don't even know what classes they offer. read more
