This family run studio is large enough to provide a variety of classes and still maintain an intimate, friendly & welcoming environment. My dancer is going into her 3rd year with them and I continue to be impressed with the talent of the teachers. I don't have a dance background, but from what I can see the curriculum is thoughtfully planned so that the students have a solid foundation in movement which is built on as they get into more complicated choreography. I'm really happy with my daughter's progress as a little ballerina. The prices here are the most reasonable in the area, especially considering the high caliber of teachers on staff (I looked into the other studios in town before deciding on Dance Image). Also, the owner is great! She is super nice and always keeps in mind what is best for the kids while respecting families and students. It's a wonderful studio with integrity and caring for all of their students.  Their attention to detail in classes and recital (highly recommend!) is impressive. Some words of advice: show up on time, wear the appropriate 'uniform' (each level has its own dancewear requirements) and make sure the bun is clean and tight. I brought my daughter in for dance class for a few months. I definitely will not be returning for the next season. Signing up and fees are very complicated. Feels like there's a money grab whenever possible. Strict dressing rules for the younger kids was off putting but tolerable. The worst part is the teacher we had. I can't speak to how other teachers were but Jessica was not a good one. She consistently didn't help correct students on proper movement and provided little instruction. It was like she was robotically gliding through the classes and the children would get confused or bored. I doubt any kid learned a thing about dancing in that class. Only good thing I liked was that my daughter found it ok to be on her own without me in a class setting which will help her feel more independent when it comes to school time. Another scary thing are the stairs to go into the studio. The hand rails have huge gaps that people, especially kids, can easily fall through. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this dance studio. My daughter started with the mommy-and-me classes, and now she's thriving in her independent classes. The nurturing environment gave her the confidence to adjust to school easily, and she's grown so much both in her love for dance and her independence. Not only has this studio helped my daughter build confidence and independence, but it's also where she's formed beautiful friendships. We just did a trial class with our 19mo old who has never tried anything like this before. She was anxious and needed both mom & dad with her. After trying to keep her calm and us both trying to get her to dance the instructor told us only one parent was allowed. I would understand this if it were even a half full class, but there were only two other students. Furthermore, I felt the expectations were way too high for a "dance with me" parent included class. We thought we were going to have fun and feel the music, but the instructor was putting more importance on doing specific moves. If they're going to say that if you're old enough to walk then you're old enough to dance, then they need to be amenable to literal babies and how their needs vary from older students. read more

Been at Dance Image for 4yrs now and my daughter loves it. Her skills as a dancer have improved tremendously thanks to the outstanding instructors. From to now we have Join Performing Group, Parades, Recitals each year, special events, Clippers pre-game, and now Competition. I can now say im a Dance Mom... (without the drama lol). The director Debbie is nice but her staff will turn your child away if you are kind of late. I rather have taken some type of late fee instead of taking a child home with her heart broken because she couldn't dance. Never again coming to this studio. Update to my review: I'm not going to argue with you Ms Debbie, It's very unprofessional of you that you can't take criticism although I have seen of people comment on your staff being rude and you being rude as well. And the fact that your lying about the instructor being there to witness this is crazy because in that case if this instructor was there to witness this then she must of not been teaching the class yet... caught you in a lie because the instructor was teaching and had the door close so there you go not trustworthy and making things up... read more

My 3yr old daughter started to take creative ballet/tap at Rio Hondo Park in Pico Rivera, by Dance Image. Her dance teacher is Randy, and he is so great with all the little ones! I have tried a few different classes at other places and this is by far the BEST. My daughter actually learns and remembers her dance routines she learns. I actually used to dance at Dance Image when I was a teen so this is extra special to have my daughter taking classes by the same studio. I will definitely be re-enrolling her in future sessions! My daughters trial class was a little scary for her cause she's so shy & emotional , one of the dance instructors Miss Kayla just made her feel welcome & tried to help her when she noticed her getting overwhelmed . Her first official class she walked right in & was ready to start . In the middle of it she started to cry from being overwhelmed again & Miss Kayla took her hand & consoled her . My daughter was so happy & after class on the way home she started questioning when her next class was . I'm new to Dance Image and my daughter absolutely loves going to her classes. The dance teachers are so amazing an patient. I know my little one would rather run wild and not listen but the teachers take their time with her and they are never rude to her. My daughter loves doing ballet and she loves her teacher. The studio is always clean and we are always greeted once we walk it. The studio takes precautions because of covid and I'm happy with it. I'm very displeased with this dance studio. My monthly payments for my daughter ballet are on auto pay every month. She has not gone for the past two months. Today I called and spoke with the office manager and explained that I would not be able to afford another month. Asking her to please not charge my card this Feb 1st. She explained I would need to send an email which I did (pictured). About two hours later they wrote me an email saying they will drop her and now charge my card immediately for February's tuition. Without any authorization to charge me in advance they went ahead and charged my card right away! This is sad that they have zero consideration for their dance customers! I'm very upset at the way they conducted this transaction. Beware! If they continuing conducting business in this manner they'll be out of business very soon :( read more

Writing this review in hopes to warn parents about this place, please consider my experience as a child: I danced here from ages 9-14. This place killed my passion for dance along with my self esteem. I've grown up to realize that these grown adults were inconsiderate and lacked compassion. As a teacher myself, I cannot fathom treating children the way they treated me. I was often told to "suck in" my stomach which led me to develop self image issues and an eating disorder. And I would notice the favoritism of others, and witness the teachers unprofessional behavior towards parents and students. My anxiety stems from negative experiences from this place. I remember biting my nails and teachers yelling at me in the middle of dance class from across the room "get your fingers out of your mouth!!!!" And as someone with common decency I can think of a million different appropriate ways to address/approach that action instead of partaking in that type of behavior. That is just one micro incident i can use as an example to show the negligence this place carries. I've reconnected with some friends I've made here and we all share the same trauma and agree that as little girls all we wanted to do was learn to dance and instead we developed internal struggles that followed us into adulthood. I learned to love myself outside of this place and learn that some people don't always have your best interest at heart and the wrong people are teachers. Please avoid this place, take your beautiful children where they are taught to move with love and passion! And won't get yelled at for trying their best! read more

Took my 23 month old to the mommy & me class & it was SO cute and so well organized! The teacher did such a good job engaging with the girls and keeping them entertained. It's okay. On the first class that I went to I left my phone inside the studio. I called the location as soon as I could to notify them several times nobody return my call. Until I showed up to the studio on Monday. They took my name and my contact information and my phone was never found even though my phone last location reported was at the dance studio. This dance school is very convenient for me but the dance director is so rude and disrespectful to parents and the children. I don't think she realizes that parents are adults and should be addressed with the same respect and courtesy that we offer her, at the end of the day this is a business and customers come first so when a parent/customer comes to your office and waits outside (respecting your COVID rules) in line for over 30 minutes to pay a fee they should be helped not ignored and sent away by Debbie because the office closes at 7. Not only is the atmosphere here toxic because of the director and some of the other staff but also there's a group of moms that floats around acting like they own the place and look down on other parents that actually have a life and don't have all day to spend hanging out at the studio after classes. This is definitely the cheapest dance school in the area but you pay for it with the horrible experience you will definitely have sooner or later no matter how polite you or your children are. No need to mention that I have already looked into other dance schools and will be enrolling for the fall. read more

My daughter has been attending Dance Image since she was 1.5 years old. She is now 8. It's become our second home and the teachers, student and their parents have become our second family. It's amazing seeing my daughter grow through out the years and it's all because of the hard working teachers. They can be stern at times HOWEVER the love they have for our kids is one of a kind. The recital that they have in June is a result of all the hard work our kids put in and the structure that is taught in class. My daughter absolutely loves coming to her dance classes with Ms Elysse. I called a couple places and thankfully dance image let my daughter start a mommy and me ballet class at the age of 18 months that's right my one year old goes to ballet class! And she loves it. It has helped her so much build her leg strength that she had some issues on due to being premature. The class is 30min long I get to help her as the parents are in class with the little ones and she is learning to follow directions and listen to the teacher. Ms Elysse has the patients of an angel! The class is not super pact so the kids are able to pay attention to what's going on, and do across the floors one by one witch happens to be my daughters favorite part! I don't like to talk negative on anyone's business as a small business owner myself but my daughter left in tears. I'm not sure what the owner Debbie's deal is and why she feels the need to talk down to the kids in her class but all was great with this studio before I encountered her. If you are going to be strict and treat your kids like crap then at least have the organization to back it up. I wasn't told we needed to adhere to a strict policy of dress and hair and my card was supposed to be charged resulting in a late fee they reversed because it was their fault. The people are nice the moms helpful, but I can't support a business that is so hypocritical and just downright mean. I saw the shift in energy with the kids today vs when the regular instructor is teaching and nobody has a smile or enjoyed the class. If you are going to belittle young girls who are trying to build confidence by shaming them. I suggest you look in the mirror I saw your technique and you admitted to having zero balance and you snapped at my daughter several times and said she has an attitude. I'm sorry she called you out for not having a bun or proper attire while you were humiliating these poor young girls who were clearly nervous and not having fun. I'm sorry I left her there because I would have immediately taken her out should I have witnessed this and probably said something I shouldn't. Shame on you I am disgusted and the reason I will give three stars is for the other people here who are nice and I'm being very generous here. If you are going to be strict and judgmental please clean your studio and make sure to have your policies in order and organized properly. I really liked it before dealing with such a rude and negative person and I would never think about running my business this way. I could have sent referrals and notice they asked me for a review on Google which will be taken down, while they were trying to sell me but the true colors showed not too long after and one of my clients warned me about this place shameful! I enrolled my 25 month old in their ballet class and I love it. The teacher was really nice and explained the parents would remain outside the glass window (we can see and hear everything) but could not go in with them. Excellent. This I teaching all the little ones to be independent and trust themselves. I only speak Spanish to my baby so she had a hard time at first, but kids are sponges and understood it all. After the 2nd class she was practicing at home and loves her class. Plus I think is pretty affordable. I used to be part of a kickboxing gym and paid $100 a month this 30 minute class every week costs $30 a month, I think is a great price. I am planning to enroll her on weekend class once I go back to work. Should check it out. read more

I am extremely grateful that I was able to find a dance school like dance image who truly goes that extra mile for the kids. This is a great family owned business. And yes most of the good reviews are from folks that have been bring their daughters/sons here for a long time - but that should tell you something they teach the kids poise and confidence and the kids learn the benefits of hard work and focus. I will say they suffer no fools however, so you if you want to be coddled as the parent as a dancer and you need a LOT of hand holding maybe a different dance studio is for you. First came to Dance Image thru the Whittier community center that offered classes, I was pleasantly surprised that they offered classes for children at such an early age. I loved it so much, I enrolled her directly with the studio. Have been with Dance Image for 1.5 years, my daughter was only 1 when she began. I love the fact that they are consistent and professional, it is very structured. My daughter has flourished, she loves music and dance. Her social skills have enhanced, she plays with others. We went from one class to unlimited in half a year and have never looked back. Their staff is amazing, disciplined and knowledgeable in their field. This place is ok, just a bunch of hidden fee's I felt we were blind sided with. Our daughter joined in the middle of dance season and a recital was coming up and they asked if we wanted our daughter in it and we had said yes because we wanted her in the recital. We new there was a fee but what we didn't know was since we joined in the middle of dance season there was an automatic late fee that they told us after our card was charged. That kinda rubbed me the wrong way. If you're good at reading the fine lines this place is good for you but I just felt everything had a price to it. I understand dress code but I feel like they can be more lenient on the little moms us moms have cute tutu ideas. If they are 10 min late to class they can not participate (this is for the much younger kids too). I like the structure but I think this place can do a lot better. Expect to pay A LOT. read more

Where do I even start off with this place! I would give it zero stars if it let me.There is so much to say. I normally enroll my daughter at dance classes through a park and recreation but this time I decided to try something new and different for my daughter and so we enrolled in dance image. Starting off was ok. But once I found out how things worked it was terrible. For one they make you read this so call "recital handbook" for your questions to be answered as if you are some kind of robot. If you personally ask them a question in the front office they will refer you to the "recital handbook" like who actually has the time to read this and look for your questions. So this is one thing that was annoying. Two this place is over priced they charge you for every little thing as possible. They just want your money, its too expensive and too strict. When enrolling they do not tell you there will be a performance fee they just make it seem like the monthly payments would be the only thing to pay for besides the costumes. So if you do not pay the recital fee then your child cannot perform so be aware. They will try to come at you with some BS like "oh it was in the recital book" and so you should of read it. Three they have no customer service you would think the (owner) Debbie out of all people would have some experience with customer service she does not she is the worse of all. She is very RUDE! She doesn't know how to talk to you and she will speak to you with attitude. This place is horrible this was the first and last time I put my daughter in this place NEVER AGAIN! Her recital is this weekend and I cannot wait for it to be done. I am counting the days. I was better off at parks and recreations. Hope this helps for some of you!!!! * On another note- They make you attend a back stage meeting before recital that is mandatory to answer anyone's questions but during the meeting when asking a question they tell you everything is in the handbook then the owner will say this meeting is taking too long shouldn't be longer than 20min everything is in your "recital book" to answer questions? So why is this so call meeting mandatory if its already in the book? Pointless if you ask me. read more
