Haunted CGI mirrors of Sarah Marshall were strewn about, along with a creepy baby for good measure. 2 "scary groots" near the end were simply adorable! The piece de resistance of the maze is also quite cool, which I won't spoil. Origins - The Curse of Calico is a worthy new addition to the scare mazes at Knott's Scary Farm, hence the posted 45 minute wait the first of two times I visited the maze. The place settings & decor are quite convincing, and warrant a second trip, of which I managed to do close to when the park was closing. The sets are huge and has some of the best safes in the park. I waited 1 hour and I was definitely worth it. Origins is a must when visiting Knotts Scary Farm.

It's not much, but it's hard to complain about a free activity. You get to learn about the history of the houses, and some of the exhibits were pretty interesting. Worth checking out at least once! You'll most likely spend about 1-2 hours here, but I can't really see how you'd spend much more than that. In total, there were about 4-5 rooms of things to look at. Parking - Plenty in the lot.

The famous "Murder House" from American Horror Story is located in Los Angeles and is great fun to…read moresee. The Murder is really the Rosenheim Mansion. Rosenheim built the mansion in 1908 to live in his wife. In around 1930 Edward Everett Horton lived there. The Sisters of Social Service then took over the mansion in 1930, using it as a convent and adding a chapel to the building in 1932. Around 1999/2000 the site was declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. It was beautiful and still is in its own right. It was later sold in 2015 for about 3 million, which was a huge price cut from its initial offering. There was a lawsuit against the sellers agent for never disclosing that the property was featured on American Horror Story. Fans of the TV show stated going to it and this made the owners just a tad upset. It is now Murder House. You can now up to walk Murder House and take photos of the beautiful mansion and the area greenery. It is about an hour of fun. I had read that some can walk though it, but I did not see anyway to do that.

I will say there was a lot of vintage/antique items but very limited art (false advertising I felt). Mostly filled with vendors who have spaces inside of King Richard's (sponsor). For those familiar with Whittier's events it was park version of Uptown's Antique Street Faire. There was live entertainment and about 6 different food trucks. A few community organizations were present. Limited parking could be found alongside the park. They did have a free parking lot (which lacked proper signage) locate a few steps of the start/end of the festival. Although after you parked your car it was a nice steep uphill walk to get to the park, not good for elderly or those with trouble walking.

The hosts did a great job welcoming us and explaining the process. They have white lanterns for normal scares and green lanterns for kiddos who want a less scary experience. A very well done home haunt that's frankly quite innovative…read more We joined the line shortly before they opened this Halloween evening. They came out and explained the rules, among them regarding kids. If you have children with you that DON'T want to get scared, you can tell the monsters, "Code Green!" and the monsters will in turn act scared of YOU. The kids in line ahead of us were all bravado as they bragged they'd be shouting, "Code Red!" whilst walking the maze. As they got closer to the front and could hear the screams of other guests going through the experience, they ran back to their group of parents and other kids, crying. This year's theme is "The Temple of the Fallen God," with a backyard maze filled with Aztec and Egyptian themes, giant spiders, dragons, skeletons and archaeologists jumping out at you all over. Don't want to ruin the surprise, but again, for a home haunt it's pretty impressive. As far as I remember, there wasn't really any blood and it's a full no touching zone. With that said, they were still quite good at surprising and scaring people without being in-your-face gory. They're free admission, and still put their all into it. I highly recommend them, especially if you're doing the Halloween circuit with Backwoods and Rotten Apple.
