I don't usually leave negative reviews about businesses. I don't like to spread that negativity…read more However, I feel the need to keep other parents informed. We signed up our daughter for Monday night beginners folklorico through the city. Classes were great. Good instructor. Repetitive and age appropriate. The business is FULL OF HIDDEN FEES. The registration is 40 dollars. Okay, great! Right? We show up and they say it'll be another 160 for shoes, skirt, undershorts and hair net. Red flag, but fine. We paid it. Then for the performance they say we need a DIFFERENT SKIRT- which apparently they also charged for. I would not know because it was not communicated to me that the girls need to match. I asked what type of dress would be needed and where to purchase. They said olvera street for about 200. Okay, my daughter is invested so fine. No biggie. We show up to performance and EVERYONE ELSE HAD MATCHING SKIRTS. It was NEVER communicated to me. So my daughter performed in a different outfit. They charged us for a studio danza shirt and another white shirt. There are SO MANY HIDDEN FEES AND RED FLAGS ABOUT THIS PLACE! Small space for a lot of children and families. Many parents find themselves sitting on the floor. Luisa is nice and the instructor is great, but I think the whole thing is shady. I will not be returning to this studio. If you can find another place to do Folklorico- do it. I don't mean to be so direct and mean, but I want to help other families not make the same mistakes I did.

My husband couldn't find the location and he was told they couldn't talk and hang up on him. To many details but I'll start with the most important ones. 1. It was the wrong location apparently they moved and didn't bother to tell the city to update the information. 2. The establishment has no running Air conditioning or ventilation. 3. The dance studio is small and kids barely have room to move. 4. Staff is rude and not welcoming. Do yourself a favor and don't sign up to establishment and save yourself a huge disappointment.

What a little gem in Uptown Whittier!…read more Parking is a breeze even though there is a little bit of a walk, but there is plenty and it is free. Snacks and drinks are available to purchase; wine, beer, cheese/crackers, candy, chips, water. Bathrooms are plenty and clean. But let's get to the auditorium, shall we??? It's so adorable and fancy! The architecture in this place is beautiful, although kinda funky too with it's bright colors. The first time I walked in, I literally was amazed. It feels like a "big league" playhouse, yet it is small and quaint at the same time. Seats are very comfortable with legroom and not a lot of "pardon me, 'scuse me" issues since it is laid out with short rows. I've literally sat in the vey back row of the main level and was able to see and hear perfectly! Kudos for the acoustics. The temperature in the auditorium is also comfortable; not too hot, not too cold. A wide variety of performers at the Shannon Center! Plays, musicals, entertainers, all music genres! Check out the Hawaiian series too. Need something artsy and entertaining to do? Check out their website and see all the upcoming acts.... you may just have your next date planned! Wonderful job Whittier College! Shannon Center is only list of places to "go to" when looking for something to do. CHEERS!

Came here on a rainy Sunday afternoon to catch the Whittier College Department of Theatre's…read moreproduction of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and was more than pleasantly pleased by both the venue and the comedic performances. While, yes, I am a biased and proud aunt of the female lead, I was still able to cast my biases aside and review the venue as a whole. That said, my niece rules, my niece rules,my niece rules. First off, the parking was super convenient, free, and located on the same lot and block as the theatre. The ticket prices were fair, as they went for $15 bucks a pop. Not too shabby for 2 hours of live entertainment all while supporting the college theatre department. The theatre was on the larger end of the small side. I'm not too sure if there's a larger stage, but the one that we were in seemed to suit the play nicely. I enjoyed that aspect because I really got to appreciate the nuances of each performance, attention to detail, and engage in the communal aspect of being part of a live audience. Good stuff. Oh yeah, the restrooms were also pretty big. On the downside, I wish there would've been more variety at the snack bar during intermission. Not a big deal. Go eat after the performance at one of the many local restaurants nearby. Also, the seats were padded chairs, so be sure to shift your position after some time. Overall, loved it! It's a shame I hadn't attended any previous productions, but rest assured that I'll be returning for more. Support the kids, support the arts!

Let me start by saying this: I never write Yelp reviews. I'm honestly lazy when it comes to things…read morelike this, but today's experience at CrossFit Whittier was good enough to make me sit down and write one. I normally train six days a week at la fitness, I have a coach and a nutrition plan, but I always work out alone. Lately, I've felt like my training just isn't enough, especially as I prepare for LAPD. Yesterday during lapd training, we all got smoked. It was embarrassing and a big wake up call, that we're not as prepared as we think we are. This morning, I woke up around 8:30 AM planning my usual long training day, but my gym closed early for the holiday, which frustrated me. Another cadet had told me before, "You should try CrossFit," but she was in last place during our run, so I brushed it off. But after talking to more people, I realized maybe she was right, maybe CrossFit is exactly what we need to improve our conditioning, especially running, which is one of my biggest weaknesses. So I decided to call CrossFit Whittier. Steven picked up. I explained my goals and what I'm preparing for. He didn't try to sell me anything, didn't pressure me, didn't hit me with "you need to sign up first" he simply said, "Come check it out. Come get a workout for free." I showed up, introduced myself, and he showed me around. He put me through a workout, and honestly? It wasn't enough for me, I wanted more. So he gave me an extra workout to do, even though it was Thanksgiving and even though the gym was technically closed. That small extra session kicked my butt in the best way possible and made me realize I was in the right place. What stood out to me the most was that he didn't rush me, didn't send me home, and didn't act like his time was more important. He stayed with me to make sure I was doing the movements correctly. No other business owner would have done that on a holiday. He also gave me a law enforcement discount, which I truly appreciated. I left feeling grateful, motivated, and honestly excited to come back. I'm looking forward to training here every day, getting to know everyone, helping where I can, and pushing myself to be better. Even though today was my first day, this review should show you that the experience was meaningful enough for me to write all this. If one day was this good, I can only imagine what the rest is going to be like. The short workout I did here was already better and more humbling than anything I've done recently at my regular gym. I absolutely recommend CrossFit Whittier to anyone, especially if you're preparing for law enforcement, military, or simply looking to push your limits the right way.
