You can smell the BBQ goodness across the way at Home Depot. Since we were in a hurry and it was early in the day, we didn't end up getting any lunch. Next time we were in the area, we ordered online for pickup. It was super- busy. We got the BBQ combo and the Kahlua pork combo so we can sample all the various protein options. They gave my order to someone else, and that person returned it, and it was sitting there for over 30 minutes in the kitchen, and they still wanted to give it to me. The chicken seemed overcooked and way too crispy. I did notice a lot of cabbage and broccoli underneath. Maybe the cook should put a timer on, so he/she knows when to remove the Chicken, or Beef. I ordered an island grilled fish online today. The fish was perfectly cooked and very good quality! I'm a sushi, sashimi, raw oyster person but the experience exceeded my expectations by a lot. I chose all salad which came with some edamame. Very nutritious, generous meal. Kudos to the nutritionist team who came up with this meal! I've been avoiding chain restaurants (my kids have never been to Taco Bell) but this Ono earned my trust. A young lady who handed me my order was very courteous too. Came here around 7:30pm. The Chicken Katsu needs a lot of care and passion. The breading is a little overdone and the cut on the entire chicken looked really sloppy. The chicken needed to be sliced evenly, so the portion on each is even! The biggest disappointment for me were the cabbages. I've been to many other Hawaiian BBQ places and I've never seen such sloppy cuts on the vegetables. The cut on the cabbages need to be smaller so it's edible. Also, no the vegetable shouldn't be mistreated just because it could be a garnish. The cut was just so depressing that big chunks made the cabbage cook unevenly. read more

I've stopped in a few times to give it a chance and every time have experienced something with the food I both liked and didn't. For instance, I love how you get real veggies (broccoli & cabbage) in every plate lunch. I didn't however like getting uneven portions (less than spoonfuls this last time but actual spoonfuls prior) - I even got chopped grilled chicken bits vs grilled chicken pieces! I love the Mac salad. The spam musubi was super small and the rice was dry. I couldn't even finish half of my last plate. What can I say? It's good when it's good and bad when it's bad. Ono has single meal plates, or family size orders. The single meal plates are basically $9-$11 and come with rice and macaroni salad too. I've liked everything I've ever ordered from these chain restaurants. Food is fresh, taste authentic, use fresh ingredients, and are mighty tasty. Watch out for their coupons sometimes they have buy one get one. My only thing is that it's not really a great alternative for vegetarian. I got a large macaroni salad for a friend thinking it was vegetarian and it had some kind of tuna or fish or something in it and it wasn't described in their menu as having meat. I think they should make it more clear when something isn't vegetarian. Ordered 2 Hawaiian barbequed chicken Aloha plates. $30 not including Dasher tip, and got 1 stone cold chicken thigh, approx 2 oz, on each $14 plate. I called them and for a change they actually answered the phone. The guy said they always only put 1 on an order which is total bull. They have always served at least 2 good sized thighs on an order and commonly 3. The guy didn't do anything but say "sorry". Did not care at all. I've ordered from the once a week during the pandemic, I won't be ordering ever again. I highly encourage you not to either unless you want a box of rice with a little chicken on the side.
