I've seen some bad doctors throughout my life, but I have yet to meet anyone who has the level of disrespect, apathy, incompetence, and laziness as Neary does. She should not be allowed to even "practice" medicine. She misdiagnosed me at least twice (can't even properly identify rosacea). If she couldn't find what was causing a health issue, she wouldn't look into it any further. She would just shrug her shoulders. She clearly does no research, doesn't keep up on current medicine, and doesn't ask her colleagues for their professional medical opinion. Basically, she wants you out of her office as soon as possible. The last straw for me was when I made an appointment with her, asking for help because I had lost a lot of weight due to a very stressful, traumatic life experience. I basically wanted to get some labs done to ensure that my health was still in relatively good condition, find a healthy way to gain the weight back, and I also explained to her what I had been going through. She immediately tried pushing anti-depressants on me... Just a band-aid to the issue (for which I was seeing a psychologist to work through). I have tried 4 different anti-depressants in the past, only to find that they made everything worse, including my health. I respectfully relayed this information to Neary, and she was instantly angry that I didn't want to take the anti-depressants. I told her how sick they made me, and she said in a very cold, unprofessional, and disrespectful manner, "Well you look sick already!". After that appointment, I was rightfully upset by what had happened. My doctor was supposed to be my advocate, not a mean jerk. I am better at writing what's on my mind than speaking it, so I wanted to calmly collect my thoughts and politely relay them to her. I let her know that I felt disrespected during the appointment and that I need to be able to openly communicate with my physician in a respectful, safe, and compassionate environment. After that, she immediately dismissed me from her practice without any advance notice. She knew I was in the middle of seeking treatment, but rather than apologize for her incredibly unprofessional behavior or make the situation right, she left me out on my own with no primary care physician. She also made a point to accuse me of having an eating disorder when she knew damn well that I do not and never have had one... Especially since part of the reason I made the appointment in the first place was to ask about a going to nutritionist so that I could put weight back on in a healthy way. I've never been so insulted by a so-called "medical professional". Stay far, far away from Neary. She is an absolutely awful person and negligent "doctor".

He said we can do a lessor strength. He wanted me on a statin, which was expected. I told him I tried a statin before and experience muscle pain. Again he mentioned a lower dose. I agreed to trying a lower dose. I left feeling satisfied that my concerns were addressed. By the time I got home the pharmacy had my prescriptions ready. After standing in line for 20 mins it was my turn. Two prescriptions, no cost. All positive energy hmming along. I get home and open the pharmacy bag and retrieve my two prescriptions. They were both the exact same prescriptions, same strength I had previously! i send him a message expressing my disappointment. I had also brought with me to the appointment two months of daily bp readings that he never looked at. In his reply, he defended the prescriptions he wrote and acted like his opinion shouldn't be challenged. Shortly after that I found a new doctor. A young female who listened to me.

During my appointment on August 16, 2024, he told me that I had a "small heart attack," but that it was "very small" and not to worry. He then sent a cardiology referral based on that statement. Later, when I reviewed my medical chart, I found three question marks (???) next to my diagnosis with no explanation. When I requested a correction to my record and asked him to clarify what he meant, he suddenly changed the story. He denied ever mentioning a heart attack and replaced the question marks with "TIA," which has nothing to do with cardiology or the reason for the referral. This did not reflect what was actually communicated to me and only created more confusion. I've had nothing but great experiences with other doctors in this clinic, so this was shocking and disappointing. In my personal experience, Dr. Keister was careless, contradictory, and dismissive, and I would not recommend him to anyone who needs clear communication or accurate documentation. In addition , it took me 2 months of getting ignored to finally get a response from them concerning it. Several years ago I went to Dr Woolhiser twice. After my experience with those two appointments, I had my concerns about the doctor's care. So years later after an MRI found a different medical issue in my brain I didn't want to go back to Dr Woolhiser. My primary care physician even gave me a referral to neurology at Sacred Heart at Riverbend that even said right on the referral "NOT DR WOOLHISER". I called to make an appointment only to learn from the receptionist I needed permission to go to a different doctor other then Dr. Woolhiser. I was advised the only way to be allowed a different doctor was to get permission from the neurology office manager, Cinnamon first. Thus I had the receptionist send a request for that permission. I was then told I should expect to hear back from the office manager sometime in the next week. Cinnamon never called back. Over the first month I left a number of voicemails for return calls and still never heard from Cinnamon. My primary care physician even tried contacting Cinnamon and still no return call to them either. Finally after that whole month of messages I called hospital administration itself about my inability to get a response. I then got the hospital to request for Cinnamon to contact me. Funnily enough the day after the hospital sent its request I finally get a return call, go figure. Ultimately it took me a month of voicemails and the hassle of contacting hospital administration to finally get a single call back from Cinnamon. At that time Cinnamon advised me that the receptionist had gave me partially wrong information and in addition to her permission I needed permission from the doctors as well to change. Cinnamon said the doctors were having a meeting later that day and she would talk to them then and call back the following day with the response. Of course, I never got that call back. After that I began to leave even more voicemails for Cinnamon Finally after two months, all those messages and talking to hospital administration the receptionist finally calls with a denied response to me. She said my ONLY option was to go back to Dr. Woolhiser, who I neither trusted nor liked. In those two months if I hadn't been ignored I could have already been receiving medical care elsewhere. It's ridiculous that it took me all that effort to get a final response as to my request for permission to see a different doctor. I even told them I'd happily take any one of all their numerous neurologists. All I cared about was that it wasn't Dr Woolhiser, who due to my experiences with, I flat refused to ever go back to. Due to those 2 appointments for a completely different issue with Dr Woolhiser years ago and him telling me quite rudely that he couldn't do anything for me, I was denied permission. After those 2 months and regardless of the numerous voicemails and requests I left, I was only able to get a return call twice from anyone at Riverbend's neurology department Basically, the neurology department, doctors and office manager, Cinnamon,,were forcing a patient to only be able to see a doctor they had 0 faith in, nor trust in their abilities. I think that is all absolutely wrong, nor does it provide good care to the patient. What ever happened to getting a second opinion, as that policy doesn't even allow for that either. Patient's need to be able to have confidence in their doctors! Not to mention it shouldn't have to take a person two months and lots of effort to even get a response. I found all of my experience absolutely ridiculous as no true care was even given by the neurology office manager and its doctors.

The system? Not good. Technology, legal documents, communications? Not good. The actual doctors and…read morenurses and physical therapists? They did seem good, and I genuinely liked most of them. The hospital is in a nice location and we appreciated having sunlight and views. But the hospital is bad with communicating with each other and with us family members, bad with paperwork and legal bureaucracy, bad with computers. I watched my brother writhing in pain for 45 minutes while a nurse couldn't get the computer to allow the next dose of pain meds to come through. Eventually a pharmacy worker came up and they stood around the computer going, "Huh! That's interesting. Never seen that before." I had to file my power of attorney documents multiple times. "Maybe you should file it again with us in person," one guy said. I had already filed it, in person, at their front desk, and even had the receipt for it. The real hands-on medical staff was focused on my brother's basic health needs to some degree, and I am thankful for the medical professionals who saved his life. The hospital SYSTEM only cared about getting my brother out of his hospital bed as soon as possible, into some other kind of care facility, even though he'd caught a new bacterial infection while in their hospital.
