If Auto west of grand rapids took advantage of a local elderly war vet, I can't imagine they will…read moredo right by you! Last night my 83-year-old great uncle mentioned going to a dealership the other morning and said he thinks he "did something big" but couldn't remember much about the purchase other than it being the "truck out front". In a confused state, he hands me lease and sales agreement and asks what he had done and what he owed because he was confused and worried. Last year my great uncle's financial troubles reached the point where it has become detrimental to his health for him to manage his finances alone. As a result, I moved in to assist him and we chose to legally declare me his Power of Attorney. In addition to his deteriorating physical health his mental health is declining, causing bouts of confusion to the point that he can no longer make clear financial decisions with a sound mind. He is an elderly war veteran and is often in a confused state and easily manipulated by anyone who would take advantage of him. It is heart wrenching that it seems to be exactly what Auto West of Grand Rapids has done. I don't understand how a local business could do this to anyone, especially a proud elderly war veteran like him? This is our struggling neighbor, a local, a grandfather, a father, a great uncle and most of all a badass and proud Korean war veteran. I can't believe anyone would even think to take advantage of someone like that...it's utterly disgusting. Here is a brief description of what occurred: Auto West of Grand Rapids pushed him through their financer with a $53,000 lease at +5% interest. (Despite the fact that he is $120,000 in debt and less than a year ago was choosing between buying medicine and food each month. How is this even legal?) He was talked into investing his savings from his last 6 social security checks as a cash down deposit, which they more than happily took as they proceeded to put him in a vehicle with a monthly payment that is more than half of his monthly social security check. He said he was told that his payments would decrease to $350/month after the initial 3 payments at full price, the amount of which was not clear to him.(he thought 600ish) He was led to believe the warranty covered everything and that he would get anything he needed fixed for free under the $4,000 warranty, which is not the case. They also let him think that GAP insurance was necessary, and he needed it regardless of if he understood it. He did not understand what was being purchased, the amounts, the final totals, or any of the documents he signed. Additionally, the Dodge Eco Diesel my easily confused uncle was misled into buying does not meet the daily needs of his physical limitations. The height of the vehicle alone makes getting into and out of the vehicle very difficult and I worry could lead to a fall and severe injury. Today I am taking him and the truck back to the dealership in the hopes they will do the right thing and give this man back the livelihood that was stolen from him. I'm giving them the chance to make this right and I will be the first to thank them and update this immediately if they do. However, if they choose to continue to rip off a local handicap war vet, I will be required to take further action not just for the protection of my great uncle but also to prevent the mistreatment of any other local elders, veterans, or loved ones in Michigan.

Worst auto business I have ever heard of. It's really a shame on how disgusting these people could…read morebe. Especially one of their mechanics, Adrian. I had two friends come into this place after someone sent out a good word about to them. One needed an engine replacement on his pick-up and had it towed there by their tow truck partner, Guevara Towing Service on May 20, 2020. He was required to leave a starting payment for the labor which was $400 and the towing service which was $150. The job was set to last 2 weeks and once the deadline hit it was pushed back again another two weeks. After 4 weeks, it still wasn't done. Adrian said it'd only be 3 more days, a little longer than expected but not too bad right? Wrong. 3 days later, it's still not done. That's when the excuses started. After that, my friend would call Adrian weekly to check up on his truck instead of driving to A&D. Adrian answered the first couple times and then started ignoring all calls my friend had made. By now it's the beginning of July, over a month since the first deadline. Whenever my friend would talk to or see Adrian and ask about his truck, he'd reply with, ".. this Saturday, you have my word!" Well that isn't much now is it because that went on for another few weeks. Every time he'd show up ask about his truck, Adrian would just smirk and joke about it like he just hustled him for money. One day, in Mid August. Yes, mid August, my friend decides to visit Adrian at A&D. It was the best day, it was rainy but he wanted his truck back. He gets there and asks to see the truck because as you may have guessed, it wasn't finished. He went out to the back to take a look and what he seen showed the type of service quality they give out; as if ignoring calls, terrible communication and broken promises weren't enough. My friends truck had the window half way open with nothing covering, it was in a corner with a flat tire, it was dirty and full of mud, and the worst part, it was NEVER WORKED ON!! After 3 months, it wasn't even touched. After confronting Adrian about it, he had the audacity to say, "I think I'm going to start charging you a parking fee because it's been here so long." Like, how rude, stupid, and dishonorable is that!? Finally after my friend really put his foot down on the situation, Adrian started on the truck; only 4 months late. *Eye roll* Once again he gave a deadline and this time..... It was finally done! On September 17, 2020. Almost 5 Months without his truck and it sat for most of that! You would think after such mistreatment and lying, the least you could do is give a discount right? Nope, another $1200 were needed to be paid. My friend paid it even though he didn't think it was fair, he just wanted his truck back. Now you think everything is good, the truck is finished, end of story? Nope. There's more. Once leaving the lot, the truck idled super hard and it couldn't stay on without pushing the accelerator. It was a really rough ride home and honestly a scary one considering the US-131 had to be taken. Once getting home and stopping, the engine shut off in it's own.The hood was popped open and so began the inspecting. First thing checked, oil dip stick and guess what? Could even tell if there was oil. It was super low. Next transmission dip stick, just in case right? Well it had None! (Or so it looked like) He had to fill it up himself! Like what the hell!? What kind of work was actually done. Shortcuts were definitely taken and it shows. This business tried so hard to make a huge profit but couldnt even do the job right. After reaching out to Adrian to say something about it. No answer. As of today, his pick-up still sits because he can't afford to put more money into it. These people take advantage of you and your trust. There are pictures to back up this story and how my friend was F-ed over by this business. The other friend bought a truck cash ($2000 plus $500 for labor) from the dealer side of the business with a promise from Adrian himself that it'd be done within a few weeks also. It has been in the same spot since July. It's stuck behind two semi trailers and Adrian refuses to work on it. I advise, DO NOT take your vehicle here for any type of work. It is not worth your money or your time! Pay a little extra to get the job done right some place that is actually reliable.
