Gotta love easy, low-contact communication to start…read more I made my appointment online on a Monday, but availability wasn't until Friday. If it weren't for the positive reviews and comments, I may not have continued. I had also made an online appointment with a big-box tire shop, only to get a call back telling me that the appointment I made was actually a request. Hmmm... #1. I had asked for pricing for an alignment (which was on the high side) and a tire rotation, and the wording just felt a little slippery. So I told them I'd call them back to schedule. Sunshine sent me a reminder text, and I was curious if I'd actually get a response. Wouldn't you know it -- I did! I specifically asked about the cost and whether there were any other fees. Turns out, the alignment price was the alignment price (provided no additional work was needed), and that is exactly what I paid in the end. When I arrived Friday for my appointment, I received a greeting text. It freaked me out for a moment, but then I realized they had seen me and my car entering the shop and had done a pre-check-in. The guys at the counter couldn't have been nicer or more approachable. The work took about 90 minutes, and while I waited, several people walked in. The same friendliness I experienced was coming across with everyone. Is that a sign of trust? For this shop, I'd say yes. Before completing the transaction, I was given -- and sent by text -- a green/yellow/red list of recommended work. I asked if they could give me quotes on the items, and they sure did! Mr. Diaz also highlighted what he personally recommended prioritizing, and I really appreciated that approach. I didn't have to do everything on the list at once. We could knock the work out one by one. You don't know how much I appreciate this kind of approach. I know shops can take advantage of people -- especially ladies like me who are already on guard because we're expecting to get confused, fast-talked, or pressured into something we don't understand. That didn't happen here. I felt informed, respected, and in control of what I was choosing to have done to my car. That goes a long way with me. So far, Sunshine Service Shop has earned my trust.

After the technician returned to the office, post smog test he asked if I needed anything else. I was charged for the smog test and the I asked about the registration, thinking it may be a separate transaction. He responded "that's why I asked if you needed anything else!!" In a rude and condescending manner. I apologized for the misunderstanding, he grabbed my debit card and stormed out of the office, slamming the door against the wall. He was clearly furious for no reason and I can only imagine how he would have handled a more difficult customer interaction. I won't be back.

I called and spoke with Jason, who listened to my concern and told me to come on in so the shop could take a look. I couldn't make it until the next day, but when I arrived, the whole team was great. I was greeted warmly, and the staff checked in with me while I waited for Jason to get to my car. Jason took my concern seriously. For many years I've been using Preferred Auto Care for the service needs of my past 3 vehicles…read more This includes a Subaru Outback, a Subaru Outback Turbo, and now a Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport. Over the years I've developed a very high level of confidence in Leo. He's extremely fair and honest in all of his dealings. He and his team perform the work that is required, and nothing more. All work is performed promptly, and is done at a very fair price. My standard service visits have twice caught issues that needed to be resolved under my vehicle warrantee. In addition, they have provided technical assessments that counteracted what I had been told be the location where I had purchased tires. I didn't need the brake service the Tire dealers had advised. This saved me a huge amount of money. I confidently rate Preferred Tire at 5+ stars. Well done Leo !
