True Story: I had to use a passport and go through customs to get a haircut here…read more People (including the people at the border) thought I was crazy. I don't care - It was TOTALLY worth it and I plan to continue the insanity every time I need my locks trimmed! If you have curly hair you know the lengths a curly girl will go to for a good haircut. I have received one too many bad haircuts in my life to take any more risk with my curls. Luckily, even though I have to go to a different country to get a cut, Jennessa is not too far from me. Jennessa has the cutest curly-centric boutique on the face of the earth. One shampoo bowl, one cutting chair, one drying chair and walls filled with curly hair product. Basically my dream place. I have been addicted to devacurl products (the line Jennessa uses) as well as the whole curly girl method for about 7 years now. I have had cuts in Chicago, NYC and Michigan. My experience with Jennessa was BY FAR the best. Jennessa has taken it upon herself to become the curly hair guru of Canada. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to sit in her chair. I learned so much from her and she was wonderful to speak to. You truly can feel how passionate she is about curly hair and helping everyone discover their inner curly girl! A haircut with Jennessa is not just a cut - its a lesson, an experience. I learned so many new things during my appointment. I feel like a brand new curly girl! Jennessa cuts curly hair like it should be cut - dry and curl by curl. She is also trained, certified and an educator for http://www.devacurl.com/. After my cut I am not only sporting a super cute refreshed look but I feel like my curls got a whole new life (after some product suggestions that she gave me). If you have curly hair I understand not wanting to be crazy like me and going across the border all the time for cuts - but do it at least once. Learn about your curls. Get a lesson from the master. You will be so happy that you did! (she does book up very quickly so plan in advance!)

I can honestly say for the first time in my life, I actually feel like my hair is pretty. The salon: Super, super classy. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming. Also for those with sensitive respiratory systems, it did not really smell like most salons do. Aaaaand, they have me AMAZING coffee! :D The cut: I didn't really have a clear idea of what I wanted, and I did a terrible job of explaining, but she worked magic and was super happy to take suggestions and I NEVER felt like she was taking over. She and all the other stylists were super affirming and I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair in my entire life. Even with just the cut and set I learned tons about how to care for my hair eich was dry as a rock. Don't be scared of the price, if you already dislike your hair, what do you have to lose? And if you love your hair, I promise you won't regret it. They will only even make your curls better, no matter the state they are in.

I had so many bad experiences with hairstylist in Toronto, so I never dared to use them for colour. But in here, I saw a gorgeous girl with the most amazing style and colour in her head, so I asked her about the magician's name. She gave me the clue: Jocelyn at Cabello/Hair... I called one Monday and nobody answered (cuz they're off that day), but the more I saw that girl's amazing hair, the more I got obsessed... I went there yesterday, and I'm the happiest girl in Windsor!!! The place is super cool; they have a bicycle hanging from the ceiling, collages of images, shoes, and the people working in there is worth to watch. The clientele was plenty, and from all kind of ages: kids to modern senior citizens. They offered me beverages several times, and the experience was really pleasant. But the best part was Jocelyn. She is a pro in what she does. She is humble, polite, she multitasked, but she never forgot what I wanted. She became my favourite!!!

I hate that I have to re write this review after a year. Last year I went in for a little "me" time…read moreaway and booked an appointment as I've been to this salon a couple times before and had amazing experiences. This time was not. I booked a sugar scrub/ massage and a facial. My scrub/ massage was not good. I got the scrub for 15-20 mins then went to wash off, when the girl came back in, she lightly rubbed me down in oil. My services were done 20 mins early (did have to wait for a bit for her to come back in after washing off the scrub) When I was done, I asked them does the massage not come with it anymore? The lady that gave me my services as well as the manager on duty both said oh no just a light rub down. I did tell her I was done early as well which I got a discount to 88$ for that service (88$ for a 20 mins scrub ok?) I did write a review which the owner Frank called me personally to find out what happened. In said call he did offer me to come back when him and his wife were home to get the service again on them and he would have his wife do it, so it was done correctly. So now I am here writing this review. I wanted to take my bestie for the scrub/massage for her Christmas gift and figured since I have the free one, I will join her (we always go together anyways) We are just booking for May 9th as with life this was the only time we could get in together. Well Frank just called and said he did not offer me a free one and that I got a discount that day. I said OK sure I got a discount but 88$ for a sugar scrub ok whatever. He made it seem like I needed the free service, I don't I can pay for myself but when you are offered a free service for the service you didn't get then to now turn around and change your mind and say you don't remember saying that, is crazy to me. He made me happy in this time so I would take my original review down (which I did after speaking with him as I thought he was making it right, guess not) Needless to say, we have now cancelled our appointment, and we will not be returning to La Vida Salon again!

I had a wonderful experience at La Vida spa and salon and wanted to share my thoughts…read more We first met the owners, Frank and Maria, almost a year ago at a party. Today, I decided to visit their spa. I sent an email to book appointment the same day and in a span of five minutes I got a call from Frank to arrange the schedule. I am so glad he accommodated us for the service. I was able to booked a couples massage and also scheduled a hair appointment for me as well same day at 2 pm. Since we are only visiting Windsor for the weekend. For my hair, I chose to get a Balayage, a technique that gives a subtle, blended look. My hairdresser, Marianne, listens to what I wanted for my hair & she. gave recommendations. She spent a good 3 hours on it, and I must say, she did an incredible job, she took time and focused, I like the way she is being nice. The result of my hair service was a balanced and softer look that I loved. The business owner also checked on me from time to time. Next came the couples massage, our first time at the spa. It was truly fantastic, especially for my husband, who experienced a strong Thai massage from a skilled practitioner. My husband was so happy with it. But unfortunately with my massage therapist, I find it is an "ok" service. I would say from 1-10 points , I will give her only 6 points because she forgot to massage my both arms. I had didn't quite meet my expectations like the full body massage. It lacked the desired pressure and technique, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and tense afterward. At first, She was not able to introduce herself, I find her timid and not friendly. The ambiance at La Vida is upscale and the salon feels above average. Clean and smells good inside. They have different rooms for various services, which adds to the experience. While the cost is a bit on the higher side, the top-notch service of the business owners / reception host , my hairdresser and one of the massage therapist who is from Thailand justifies everything. Wifi: Free with password Parking: If you are a new customers like us . There's a few parking spots in the back, a metered front street parking and I think the side streets is a free parking. Overall, we had a great time. I was thrilled with my hair and the massages were simply remarkable. We're definitely planning on returning to La Vida spa and salon in the future. This salon is highly recommended.

I was very happy to be able to book on NYE just in time to be refreshed for the new year. I booked grey coverage + bang trim. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Melissa who was coloring another client's hair and shortly after, I met Jeph, the owner. Jeph asked me a bit about myself and what I needed done. He totally understood that I wasn't in a (financial) place for a full retouch of my highlights and in fact said that I probably could go a little longer without a full touchup and haircut which I really appreciated! What I loved about the salon was that we had easy-going conversation for a bit and then Jeph let me chill out a bit to surf on my phone -- love the ease of appointments like this. Melissa gave me the shampoo of my dreams with an amazing mini scalp massage. She then went on to blow dry me and gave me beach curls and Jeph dusted off my bangs for a refreshed look. I thought the duo tag-teamed my services well and made sure there weren't any unnecessary delays. Getting my greys colored really brightened my whole look!
