I quickly realized that most were charging huge markups for their diamonds. My search algorithm must've caught on because that's when I came across this place. I decided to follow their Instagram for awhile as they often post tutorials and tidbit videos online. These vids in combination with all the reviews I had already read highlighting trustworthiness and service, made me decide to visit them. From our very first appointment back in April, Catherine was professional, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. My partner came with me on the first visit just to browse, and Catherine kindly helped her find her ring size and get a sense of her design/style preferences. On subsequent secret visits (between just Catherine and I), we refined the design specs, set a comfortable budget range and she guided me through every stage of the custom ring-making process via whatsapp. What really stood out was how educational and transparent the experience was. Catherine gave me a thorough, easy-to-understand rundown of the 4 C's (cut, colour, clarity, carat) and where I could maximize the value of my budget when customizing the ring. Never once did I feel pressured, talked down to, or upsold -- just genuine care and expertise throughout. The final result exceeded all expectations. When I proposed to my girlfriend (now fiancée) in Japan this October, she was absolutely over the moon! The ring was stunning -- elegant, beautifully crafted and exactly what she had dreamed of. After returning home from our trip, we brought the ring back for a resizing and Catherine handled it promptly and free of charge. I can't recommend H&F (and Catherine in particular) highly enough. However, that didn't last long. We were paired with a salesman named Arya (no longer employed there) who made us feel pressured, belittled my wishes, and only showed us their "artisan" diamonds (mined diamonds were not even mentioned during this experience). Eventually after trying on rings and asking questions when we could (he split his attention between us and another couple), he took us to a room and talked my fiancé into a larger diamond than I felt comfortable with (my fiancé is paying for the ring, but I have to wear it everyday). We were pressured to put a refundable "hold deposit" on the diamond we chose, despite my telling Arya repeatedly that we literally just got engaged and weren't ready. We went back 2 weeks later to collect our hold deposit and try our luck at their Mississauga location. I'd love to say that experience went over better, however, that would not be the truth. Needless to say, I will not be a returning customer to Spence for anything important. If I want a paid of artisan diamond stud earrings, sure, but for a piece of jeweler I will be showcasing on myself for the rest of my life, not a chance.

This time I accidentally broke it while pulling my sweater off. This time the repair was done in about 3 business days.
