It was literally the worst shopping experience of my life, second only to the experience I had at their Mississauga location. My fiancé and I had literally just gotten engaged the morning we decided to go to Spence to pick out an engagement ring for me (my fiancé wanted this to be an experience we could enjoy together), so we went to Spence just to look since everything was still so fresh and we wanted to enjoy the engagement part. However, that didn't last long. We were paired with a salesman named Arya (no longer employed there) who made us feel pressured, belittled my wishes, and only showed us their "artisan" diamonds (mined diamonds were not even mentioned during this experience). Eventually after trying on rings and asking questions when we could (he split his attention between us and another couple), he took us to a room and talked my fiancé into a larger diamond than I felt comfortable with (my fiancé is paying for the ring, but I have to wear it everyday). We were pressured to put a refundable "hold deposit" on the diamond we chose, despite my telling Arya repeatedly that we literally just got engaged and weren't ready. We went back 2 weeks later to collect our hold deposit and try our luck at their Mississauga location. I'd love to say that experience went over better, however, that would not be the truth. Needless to say, I will not be a returning customer to Spence for anything important. If I want a paid of artisan diamond stud earrings, sure, but for a piece of jeweler I will be showcasing on myself for the rest of my life, not a chance. read more

Ladies, you want your man to surprise you with a ring, but in reality, he's got no clue what style you want or what it might look like. I highly recommend coming here with your boyfriend (I mean, you must have talked about it at some point), or by yourself. The great thing about Spence is that they have cubic zirconia versions of all their ring styles underneath a glass case for you to try on without the pressure of a sales lady. Figure out if you want a solitaire, round, square, oval, three gems, diamonds on the side - there are infinite possibilities. You can talk to a sale person when you like, they can give you advice or show you things. Be sure to get the style number before you walk out - it's nice to look them up online and provides your boyfriend a starting point. You'll be surprised - I thought I want a solitaire ring, but it looks weird on me. Rings will look different depending on the band width, setting height, thickness of the claws, etcetc. He didn't buy mine here but he got it custom made to some elements of a ring I did see. read more

My visit to Spence Diamonds to purchase an engagement ring was a very enjoyable and stressfree experience. They greeted me as I walked in and helped me find what I was looking for. After we found what I was looking for they sat me down and made sure I knew everything I needed to know about diamonds and the diamond industry before I made my purchase. I gave them a price range I'd like to stay within and they worked very well with it. They did not try to upsell me at all. My friend told me Spence was the best place to buy an engagement ring. When I walked in, I was greeted by Damon, who ended up helping me during the whole process. There is a very wide selection of engagement rings, which at first was overwhelming, but Damon did a superb job in narrowing it down. He was very accommodating to my budget, wasn't pushy at all, and educated me on which cut, colour and style would be perfect for my future wife. Not only does my fiancé love the ring, she says it's the most perfect ring a woman can ask for. I couldn't have done this without Damon. A friend of mine contacted me to congratulate me on my engagement. He then asked where I got my ring, as he will be popping the question in August. Recently went in to get a necklace for my girlfriend and had a great experience. I was immediately greeted at the door and pointed in the right direction. After a few minutes for me to look on my own someone came over and helped me. After i chose a necklace we went into his (forgot the salesman's name)office and showed me the differences between all of there diamonds under a microscope. Their ring sizing is completely off...we had to have our wedding bands resized once for both of us and twice for my husband. They don't seem to be getting our size right at all. The person at their front desk admitted that the standard for sizing they have in store do not correspond to the standards they use in the shop. My husband's finger turned purple during the wedding ceremony because the ring they provided was so small, he had to remove it during the ceremony. Despite that they don't show any courtesy in store or signs of feeling bad, not even delivering the rings to our house after making us waste our time going to our store to pick them up twice. It's mere incompetence at this point, and I strongly advice going somewhere else for a better experience. This is the kind of business where they punish their clients for their mistakes, making them waste more and more time on every round. They couldn't even answer my question on what's the tolerance for the sizing of the rings they make. read more

This review is long overdue but I knew at some point I would get around to it. Basically they kept delaying the rings until the day before the wedding. Can you imagine the level of stress we had to be put through from the possibility of getting screwed because the rings aren't ready for your wedding day? I stopped by in person on two separate occasions ontop of previous phone calls because they couldn't get their shit straight and every time they said it would be ready by certain date, it would be pushed back again and again. We got sick of the BS and handed them the ultamatum 2 days before the wedding day. My wife knows how to really straighten people up if it came down to it. Lo and behold, the rings magically appeared the next day. Will NEVER deal with them again. read more

Went to spence as my go to diamond store. Never in a million years did I think I'd be treated the way I was. I'm just an average guy and I felt like I was treated like a king. I was taught about diamonds and shown beautiful diamonds in my price range. Now I went because those commercials on 102.1 but man was I ever blown away. I was greeted straight away and walked through every inch of the showroom. I found some things I think my girlfriend will like. But ultimately it's up to her! Cherry taught me about diamonds and when the time is right I'll be bringing my girlfriend here and no where else. Wow. read more

My husband bought my engagement ring at Spence and had a good experience, so i thought i would go back there to get the matching wedding band. We went in probably 5 months before our wedding date, because some jewelers need 12 weeks to get in an order. I thought we were being proactive. The salesman was very pushy, and my husband and i figured we were at the store and we should buy the ring and check it off of our 'to do list'. The salesman, knowing when our wedding day was, assured us he could hold it for us even though it was so far in advance. Even if we needed it held longer than when they usually hold it. We paid for a deposit and we left. A couple of months pass and my mother-in-law was diagnosed with a disease. So three months before my wedding, my husband and i were constantly in the hospital going to tonnes of appointments. We also live, and i work, in Barrie, so Vaughan isn't right next door, and my husband works on shift work. He called the store around this time to make sure the ring was still there and to tell them that we would be coming to pick it up, just things have been hectic and we hadn't been able to make it yet. But he assured them we were coming back. The lady, who was not nice at all on the phone, told my husband it would be there after he had to beg her to keep it. We put a deposit and she was getting verbal confirmation that we were coming to get it. It's a wedding band, it's the most significant part of someones wedding. We go to the store and they tell us the ring is not in the store for security reasons so it's at head office and would be shipped in 2 days. The salesman who helped us was there and said he would personally deal with it the next day and would call head office and figure it out. We called to check up, and the salesman didn't even work that day and no one knew about what had happened. The next day we get a call and find out that my ring had been dismantled and that it would take 2 weeks for it to come in. My husband and had told them we were coming to get the ring, yet they sent it back anyways. Apparently putting a deposit down isn't enough. (Which is ridiculous). My husband and I had been dealing with so much at that point, and i had enough. I drove to Finch Jewelers in Maple, told them my story. They were even appalled to hear that i put a deposit down, yet Spence dismantled the ring. Finch Jewelers gave me a better ring at a better price. I didn't even fight for my deposit back from Spence. I did not want to walk back into that store. The last thing you want to worry about is not having your wedding band on your wedding day. So go to a jeweler who appreciates your business. Spence just wants the sale, and after that they could care less. read more

My boyfriend I went into Spence to buy my engagement ring. The woman who helped us Christina was amazing, she really listened, very attentive, and knew exactly what she was talking about. I LOVED that I was able to try on all of the rings, it gave me a huge range of variety on what all the different cuts looked like on my finger. NO one pushing us to buy something. My husband got my engagement ring at spence diamonds in vaughn. I love my ring no problem about that. However I do have a problem with the service we received, I have highly sensitive skin and this was voiced to the sales rep so my husband decided to go with 19 karrot white gold, I still reacted to the nickle that they put in my ring that was not suppose to be in there in the first place. I tried to email them in regards to this problem and had no response from them, we then went in to spence and had no help. I recently just called spoke to the manager who was useless told me its my problem that I'm allergic and there is nothing she would do for me. That I could get it plated but I would have to pay for it, even though it was there mistake and that option was never given to my husband. she then went on to tell me that who's to say that was not told to him as if we were lying about it which was so unprofessional of her to even think that let alone say it to me. She also went on to say that my ring was 14 karrot not 19, but we have the bill saying it was 19. I'd like to worn all of you before buying there, they are great at the sale but taking care of any mistakes on there part not so great.
