Hands down, the best dog walking service in Boston... actually, the best anywhere that I've found! I met Michelle and Claudia a few years ago when I got my lab puppy, and knew that I wanted and needed someone special to care for my little babby when I wasn't around. First, the fact that they literally stand by their name, One Dog At a Time, is the most comforting thing in the world to me... There's no pile of dogs waiting to jump all over my guy when they bring him out - there's no dragging the dog by the leash because the other dogs won't stop - there's no concern about whether he actually went to the bathroom or not - as Michelle and Claudia actually walk ONE DOG AT A TIME! That makes me and our boy so happy that the attention is on him, and not distracted by a bunch of other dogs. Second, is the fact that Michelle and Claudia are dog owners and truly dog lovers to the bone, I know that Sollie is getting love and attention, and he's not just another dog on their list of dogs. I drove by Ringgold park and saw Michelle sitting on a bench with Sollie, cuddling and massaging his face. Sollie's tail was thumping out a beat that could be heard across the park, and it made me smile from ear to ear to see my boy getting spoiled like that. So instead of worrying about your dog being walked as part of a mass pile of dogs, and instead of wondering if your dogs got a great walk where they were able to go to the bathroom and get some personal attention, leave all that behind and call Michelle and Claudia. We were referred to Michele at One Dog at a Time by a neighbor when we moved to the South End with our two basset hound/black lab puppies. Until I started working from home a few months ago, Claudia would take Roscoe and Bo for a walk everyday while I was at work. She leaves a note everyday to let us know how the walk went and to let us know what time she came by at. She has been 100% dependable and I know how much our boys love her. Michele and Claudia are amazing! Before selecting One Dog at a Time, I interviewed a number of dog walkers. When I met Michele and Claudia I knew they were the right fit for us. Michele started walking Violet when she was 5 months old (she is almost 3 now). As a first time pet owner I had so many questions about training and behavior. Michele was always just a text away answering my, sometimes frantic, questions thoughtfully and with patience. As other reviewers have mentioned they are so flexible. Due to a crazy school and now work schedule I often have had to text them as late as noon and ask if they could walk Violet an additional time and give her dinner. The answer has been "yes" to every request. They have taken Violet to Urban Hound when she was being boarded and Claudia has even checked Violet for ticks when I wanted a second opinion. I have a large, leash-reactive dog with fear aggression. When I moved to the dog-dense South End neighborhood, I was worried about finding midday dog care for my dog Matcha, who also hates other dogs :( Thankfully, after asking around to local trainers and dog people, I was referred to Michele at One Dog at a Time. We spent a half hour on the phone talking about my dog's needs - a level of care that I really appreciated - and she set us up with Joe for midday walks. Now, Matcha typically needs a gentle leader because she is incredibly strong, but Joe was able to walk her with just her martingale collar (I guess the GL was a bother to figure out!) and I could tell that his attitude and energy are very grounding for her. During COVID lockdown, we kept using this service, and I'd see them take off down the block, her trotting calmly next to him with a loose leash (she NEVER does this with us!). In need of cat sitting coverage over the holiday break, I was checking this site, and calling other services (and them not calling me back - grrr), I decided to look again and I saw the number for One Dog and couldn't believe I over looked it the 1st time. I left a message for Michelle and she called me back! (novel concept for business owners - don't you think?). Though she stated she would not be in town herself, she recommended Andy. Andy and I connected, he met the cats, went over the drill, etc. Though you never think someone will do as good a job as when you do it yourself, Andy was a pretty close 2nd. When I came home, I knew they were cared for, fed and cleaned up after on a timely basis b/c there were no "accidents" (and trust me, they would have let me know if they did not like the standard of clean) and my normally fat pigs were not begging for food as soon as I went near their bowls. Michele started walking my first dog, Jethro a couple of years ago... she took great care of him in his old age and he loved her! I now have another dog, Missy, who is a small, wild, petite flower - who has the luxury of being walked by Claudia every day. Besides being kind, caring and consistent with Missy, what I like most about this service is that Michele and Claudia are always willing to help out in a pinch, and if they are not available they try to find someone else for me. Claudia has been our dog walker for the past 5 years. Our dog Rowan is a rescue and does not trust everyone but has loved Claudia since the moment they met. When we run into Michele and Claudia in the south end Rowan will run full speed ahead to see them. They always walk him on his own, will give him medications or special food when he is sick, will do a last minute walk at any moment and honestly know my schedule better than I know my own. I have lived in the south end for 14 years and used many dog walking services over the years. I first met Michele and Claudia as a neighbor. (good neighbors too!) Once I went back to work FT I was really looking for someone to walk my sweet elderly dog and provide the extra time and attention he needs on his walks. They are really conscientious and care about their doggy charges. Dex is a senior gentlemen and too fragile to walk in a big group of dogs and that simply doesn't happen ever. Michele, Claudia and all of their walkers are great with my beloved boy. Michele recently went above and beyond when Dex because very very ill....she provided excellent advice and recommendations of a great vet to help us. By sharing her own experience with her sick dog she helped get my guy back on his feet. He is back to better health and still getting his daily walks with One Dog at a Time. I honestly don't know what we would do without Claudia and Michele!! Claudia started walking our dog, Harry, when he was just 6 weeks old. It was our first puppy, and we had no idea what we were doing. Claudia has literally helped us raise Harry- without her he probably would have joined a wolf pack by now. She's so dependable, flexible and nice- and not to mention a professional photographer. She has taken every single good photo of Harry, which are so fun to get texted at work- two I must admit have even made frames at my desk. Once, Harry got sick in his crate during the morning, which Claudia unfortunately found. She CLEANED it up, took him out, and then texted me what kind of medicine to get- it's a huge peace of mind to know that I found someone who takes care of Harry as well as I would myself!
