Brought in a huge amount of my granddaughters clothes. I had to go back because they were very backed up with intake. no problem with that. I went back about 6 hours later to which I was greeted with most of my clothes being returned to me. Stating that the clothes were stained it worn out. ummmm that would be a huge NO. My granddaughter wears everything just a couple of times ( because she had tons of clothes) and as far as stains, if there's a stain that doesn't come out, my daughter throws the article away. First off, the service was awful. I came to bring in some of my kids' old clothes, since they outgrew them and they were taking up too much room in my house. Anyways, the employees told me they would give me an email when they were done estimating what the children's clothes were worth, and said it would take about an hour. Well, they never sent an email, and I was waiting outside in my car for three hours until I went back inside. The employees were extremely rude, and the selection of children's items was awful. The entire store was very dirty and cluttered. Everywhere I turned was littered, and everything although used was overpriced. I understand wanting to make a profit, but this is a children's store. I used to go there to buy things for my children when they were younger, but it's gone so downhill since then. The employees never texted me despite telling me they would, but after about ten minutes of walking the store with my now teenage children, they finally said they were ready. I brought in brand new never worn children's jackets, plus 2 pairs of winter boots and brand new Nike shoes, and many clothes. I was expecting about 20-30 dollars in exchange for everything I brought in, but they said it was all worth $14. I didn't bring the clothes in for the money, but I felt extremely ripped off. I RAVE about this store to everyone I know. I am partially surprised to see it had a low rating so I am gonna put my 2 cents. My OVERALL experience with this store is def 5 stars. They're selection is amazing. Cute, name brands, all season, majority of things in like new condition, or brand new with tags still on. At a fraction of the cost you'd get at a regular retail shop! I'd have to agree with previous posters that their toys and shoes selections can get a bit messy but this is a popular consignment shop with people all over the place with so much inventory I'm not surprised! You CAN find awesome good condition anything here it just takes some searching! Consignment wise, I have sold to them numerous times- no problems. Only thing about it is they offer a lower amount than you'd expect the load is worth unless you have a bulk of great/perfect items but again, this is a consignment shop reselling for almost dirt cheap. But I buy from them , resell back to them and donate the rest anyways! Most of the employees are awesome like Connor or Chantelle. I've had contact with the owner and her daughter who I assume is the manager and they're are friendly understanding moms theirselves. I'm glad to give them business. ... Others are your typical young adults who seem to just want a paycheck not to give a great experience but I never found them totally unpleasant. I have a 15 month old daughter and I refuse to buy her clothes from a big box retailer at this age!! i go to this store because it is the only one near me. i've been five times and have decided i am going to g to drive farther to go to a different one. Nothing is EVER when it is supposed to be. it takes hours to find the right size. For example shoes are so messed up. to find a size eleven i had to get all bins out because the boys eleven had baby shoes in it, two pairs of size 11s, a size 1 and girls sizes 8,9,10. it is like this every time i go. i wanted to find summer pajamas and all they had were winter and all those sizes were mixed up as well. the sizes are NEVER. where they are supposed to be and it is very frustrating and i am done with this location. read more

I often bring clothes that my grandchildren have grown out if. I have always been treated kindly and respectfully. At times i find nothing and other times hit the jackpot, it's the name of the game. Wow! Thought I was walking into a messy store but wow! Super organized and very clean. Cashier said hi as I walked in then asked if I was looking for anything special. Very welcoming. This store is well organized and it was easy to find things. Even the clothes are color organized. Walked into an aisle and a staff person asked how I was doing. Very nice. The manager was working behind me and was friendly. Large, older woman staff was sooo not happy about being there and was quite loud & abrasive. Didn't like how she was addressing the manager. Toys were all in good shape and clean. Store was bright and very clean. Will definitely be back. Prices were pretty good, a lot of my stuff was half price. Absolutely the worst experience we have ever had at one of the locations. We dropped off some clothes to sell and were told that they would need 5-6 hours to look through the clothes. We left and came back seven hours later and were told that we would have to come back the next day. Not a big deal you would initially think but they tell you when you drop off that you absolutely must pick up the remainder of your items before close of business that day. So we drove 40 minutes to pick up the clothes and were told that we would have to come back the next day. WTH?? Okay so we did. Don't bother wasting your time on consignment. They take random things they want. The ONLY positive thing about this store is they give you CASH the same day. It's messy, unorganized, they don't follow their own buying rules! Forget the shoes- all the sizes are mixed! Their employees are just downright unpleasant! Now this was my second time trying to "consign" here and I came in with 4 GIGANTIC Bins (I'm talking like 100+ items in each bin) all name brand stuff. Nothing with stains, nothing that even looked "worn". All of it was in "LIKE NEW CONDITION" because I remembered how picky they were the first time... The first thing I tried to do was to see what they purchased - but the employee was rushing me to the point where I couldn't even look- I honestly to this day still don't know what they purchased from me! I do know on their website they have a list of stuff "in demand" that they are actively looking to purchase. So I even went as far to include those specific items in my bins- surprise surprise- they never took the "wanted" items! 4 giant bins - they purchased $36 from me!!! Now I use the app Mercari or Facebook Marketplace to sell my sons used clothing as this place is the biggest joke/waste of time! When I asked why they didn't take the other items- they said they were overstocked in those size's but I checked the aisles prior to this and they barely had anything in that specific size. So not sure why they feel the need to lie to their patrons?!? The clothing they have for sale is not even of Like New quality so I understand why everyone gets so frustrated & confused when they don't take their items because I felt the same way! When you come to pick up your bin it is no longer behind the counter but in a gigantic messy pile directly next to the front door. Anyone could walk out with it?!? My stuff was literally thrown all over the floor. I knew it was only a matter of time before a customer had their bins stolen. This happened in a Facebook group I'm in & this woman came back to pick up her bin & it was gone. The following is copy and pasted from her to warn everyone about consigning here! "The PTA president at my daughter's school just posted this yesterday: "So I want to warn everyone about Once Upon A Child, a kids consignment store in Warwick. They take what they want out of your bin and leave the rest for you to come pick up. The wait times have become long & they now text you to pick up your bin. When they first opened, the store would keep your bin behind the front desk and you would have to show your ID and slip to retrieve it. Now getting your bin is self serve; there is a shelf directly next to the front door. When I went to pick up my bin on Tuesday (after getting a text), it was gone. The young kid at his desk spoke to the manager and then told me to "go home; they'd call after reviewing the tapes". I asked to speak to the manager. 10 minutes later she comes out. Speaks to me very briefly and tersely; informing me she has to call the owner and review the tapes. She tells me there is no store policy in place for missing bins. I asked her to call the owner; that I would like to speak to the owner. The manager disappears and never comes back out. I wait for nearly 1 hour and the young kid who initially helped me, goes back 3 times to try to get the manager to come out. She never does. Finally the young sales associate gives me the owner's name and number. Eventually I got ahold of the owner who was apologetic and clearly worried, but also stated that there was no policy in place for missing bins. Luckily the store was able to determine from the video tapes which customer took my bin, and it was returned. However when I picked up my bin, the manager was behind the counter. She never acknowledged me or apologized in any way, or offered a gift card/discount for my troubles. No effort was made by her or the owner to retain me as a customer. This story REALLY frustrates me! Why was the owner hiding and refusing to speak with this customer who just had her stuff stolen?! SOOOO unprofessional. ALSO why were they so apprehensive to call the police? This was a legitimate theft- no matter which way you look at it- so why the store owner didn't immediately contact the police is beyond me? She kept saying she had to review the tapes and that there is no policy in place for those other bins but LAWS are in place to protect US from stuff like this every day and it was a cut & dry THEFT. The bins have receipts with the owners name on them. And even if her bins were the same color and size the other customer would know if she walked in with 2 and walked out with 3! The whole thing just sounds really fishy!!! Another reason for me to never come back! read more

I haven't shopped at Once Upon A Child Warwick, RI before but I recently went and spent over $200 between both my children. When shopping I never looked at cost or what was on sale or what was clearance. I only looked at size, checked for staining, overall condition, and if it was something my daughter or son would wear. Prior to checking out I asked what their return policy was incase things didn't fit or if we should try things on in store. I was told within 7 days with receipt and tags on clothes. Great! I proceeded with checking out. The associate piled everything up, took hangers off, and scanned away. I checked out, left, tried things on my kids, and went back to return items that 1) didn't fit or 2) had defects that I didn't notice in store. If an item is a certain % off, it's a final sale This was NOT told to me when I inquired about the return policy. I don't believe this written anywhere within the store or at the check out but I could be mistaken. I'll own that. Apparently it's on the receipt you get AFTER you check out. AFTER you've paid for the item AFTER you can't return. I feel like this is dishonest of the company. I was apprehensive about shopping there which is why I inquired about the return policy in the first place. Thankfully only one item was affected by this policy. However, I'm sharing my experience to warn other mothers so you can be aware. Just to be clear, I wasn't frustrated about not getting the .35 cents back, I was upset because I felt scammed. Those frustrations only escalated because I didn't like the unhelpful responses I received from all staff and who I would presume to be the manager. Needless to say, I'll never go back. read more

This even included sports onesies. There are clothes ranging from baby to young child, larger baby items like strollers and playpens, toys and books, and a whole wall of shoes. There's a OUAC location in my hometown in VA so I was very happy to see there's one in Warwick, RI! We drive all the way out here from Quincy to get clothes for The Kid. We ALWAYS find clothes and shoes for him! They always have a good variety of shirts and bottoms for the season in all sizes (at least in our experience). Many times there are still tags on the items! They have a good toy selection as well (I've never really paid attention to the stroller/high chair section but I am sure that's great, too). The staff are very courteous, even when the store is packed. Seriously, people, if you can, come here before Babies R Us or Target, etc. I wish we did. Unless there are super duper sales at places like The Children's Place, we don't buy anywhere else as frequently (frequently as in turns of seasons). We are never disappointed. We always get a ton of clothes for under $80. They even give you a card that gives you a stamp for every $10. After 20 stamps you get 15% off. There are often good clearance/final sales. You can make out REALLY well when they have these sales! If you are traveling from afar aka across state lines, there are plenty of good places to eat. We used to go to Red Robin until they put one in the South Shore Plaza. Now we go to Not Your Average Joes. Down the strip is a (somewhat pricey but decent) Chinese buffet. There's also a Target and TJ Maxx too in case you need other things besides kids' clothes (and you aren't familiar with the area). Guaranteed returning customers here! Love you guys! read more

The employees here are the absolute worst, I mean i don't under stand how half of them have a job. store is a complete shit show of a mess. then the rudeness of the employees was mind blowing. i was with my 1 year old son didn't have any carts for the store so I had to carry him around while looking around no big deal untill I found something things and Niicely asked to leave them on counter so I could go get a couple more things 2 min later go back all my stuff is missing and gone .. employees told me nothing was there after I was told I could leave my things there. so I ended up leaving with nothing. employees took my stuff and wouldn't give it back. I'm not familiar with the brand but decided to splurge since I really liked the print and it was organic cotton. When I got to the register there was some discussion amongst some employees and they decided to ring it up at $5.50. I have no idea why it was nearly half off, but I'll take it. I have noticed something my past 5x going into this store since they expanded and it is a shame. BARE RACKS and a lack of inventory in shoes and clothing above 2T. I have also noticed they are more picky on what they buy from you for clothing. Granted they won't buy stuff that is soiled or past 2 yrs, but even new stuff with no wear, they are not touching. I also noticed prices really went high on clothing and strollers. The toy section is OK, but most of the toys I saw were missing bits. I have seen things on the rack in worse condition than what I was selling them. They also now don't accept American Express. They have a different crew as well that is not as friendly with the customers. Very sad! I loved this shop and used to suggest it to everyone. Never been here before, figured I would give a new store a try. I tried it and I won't be back. I drove a half hour to the store to sell some clothes. There was a line out the door for buy backs. After waiting 20 minutes in line I was told they could not accept my stuff. There reason was I had everything in a reusable shopping bag and not in a tote box. I asked what difference does it make what the clothes are in. The girls response was "we prefer totes". Mind you there is nothing on there website that states they don't accept reusable tote bags. They are picky on the buys but they have to be , or they would not have space to walk and it wouldn't be so clean . (For the people who only like to talk crap ! The people their are only doing their job with their rules like everyone else ) And it is easy to pick up the wrong bin especially if you've been running around with kids all day and have to run in and pick up your buy, simple mistake . Clean and well-organized store with a plethora of gently used shoes, clothes, baby swings, bicycles and toys, efficient, fair and friendly process to sell items, ample free shopping center parking lot, new merchandise ($3.50 black children neck ties, puzzles, etc.) has also been sold, etc. The shoes section has a sizing mat to find easily the shoe size of your child. A lot of beautiful designer shoes such as Sketchers, Nike, etc. starting at $3.50 a pair for toddlers! The store is at a walking distance from TJMaxx and Target. read more

I love their clothes and shoes and they have great deals! Very low prices compared to other kids consignment shops I have been to. As I was in line waiting to be checked out a woman was quoted for her items that she wanted to sell to the store. Some of the items were rejected and when she politely asked why and for further clarification on what could be accepted and what Once Upon a Child could not accept, one of the employees was argumentative. When the customer left and thanked her for the explanation the employee started making fun of the customer and mocking her voice and complained about how annoying she was. In front of everyone. I have consigned with this store a few times and staff is consistently rude. They offer you almost nothing for brand new items or tell you clothing is stained even though I thoroughly check before bringing items in. They then proceed to talk about how dirty and gross everyone's items are loudly in the middle of the store . I will never go again I would rather donate my items then go back. read more
