The WORST place to sell your child's toys/clothes etc..also very rude staff as it relates to their process of inventory intake and valuation. A better option, in my opinion, is to sell on the marketplace or simply donating. Regardless of condition, this store is brilliant at offering next to nothing for quality toys/clothes which allows them to make a better than average profit. I actually had a few quality items STILL new and unopened that had exceeded Amazons window for returns...this store actually declined them altogether! If I were the proprietor, I'd be discussing those decisions with my subordinate. Thats just plain dumb! They claim that those decisions are based on inventory. they also explained that they cannot accept donations (don't know if thats a policy or a state law regulation for the nature of their business) it does, however, explain why they will offer very little for a profitable item. They are, of course, FOR PROFIT! Bottom line? Great little store in which to shop but the worst place to SELL quality stuff. While I can appreciate the business model, I especially was turned off by the overall rudeness and demeanor of their staff. Business 101 is as follows: "The PURPOSE of a business is to CREATE a customer" profits are a mere byproduct of that principle. Be nice to your customers as opposed to treating them "as if" they were a burden. read more

Having been in several Once Upon A Child stores in North Carolina and Indiana I have to say this store is sub par. Prices are high. The girls bathing suits are not paired. Bottoms in one section and tops in another. Girls 2 piece outfits not paired. Sizes were jumbled up. I hate to leave a bad review but you can get better deals at Goodwill. The toys were way overpriced. Other franchises have Grandparents discounts one day a week. Not here. And if you opt out of getting a bag they put a wooden coin in a box to represent a contribution To a charity. Not here. Employees socializing and down right rude. Wont be back. read more

This is the holy grail of kids consignment shops. We found great stuff at great prices. The store is clean and very well organized.

I've bought some cute clothes here for my son at a reasonable price. They also have a nice toy selection for stocking the grandparent's house. However, I was very disappointed with selling clothes to them. I assumed I could walk around the store while they evaluated them, but they told me I had to come back in 3 hours and if I wasn't back within 15 minutes of that time I would not be paid nor get the clothing back. Wouldn't have driven the forty minutes if I had known this. Especially with gas prices being the way they are, but I should have called ahead. When I returned they weren't ready, so I had to walk around the store for a half an hour. This really pissed me off. I had given them a ton of Gymboree clothing (a large moving box full), all like new and some still with tags. They wanted to give me $12. I understand that they need to make a profit on this stuff, but come on. No thanks! I would rather donate or put the stuff on eBay. Lesson learned. read more

First off, I would say I am a FREQUENT Once Upon a Child shopper and seller at the locations local to me in NJ (at least once a week - we have three boys under 5). So I was tickled pink to find a location when visiting my in laws in Myrtle Beach. Pros Large location Large boys section with great selection of brands, styles, basics and price tiers in place One very clean bathroom for customer use CONS I was astounded how rude the staff was. Not only was I "huffed and puffed at" by employees putting new clothing away, my son and I were bumped into with a clothing cart and the employee said nothing. It was not busy when I went, yet not once was I offered assistance (or greeted when i walked in the door). When I went to pay, there was no one in line... But I had to wait and request assistance several times because nearly every employee in the store was behind the tagging counter gossiping amongst themselves and a few on their cel phones. But the KICKER was upon arriving home in New Jersey, 10 out of the 12 items I purchased to my HORROR were incorrectly sized (BIG DIFFERENCES like items marked 12mon were 24mon or 3t etc). I only looked at the printed once upon a child tags (my mistake clearly, but this has never been a problem at my normal locations). I understand that mistakes are made but really 10/12 of the pieces I spent $69 on are useless to me at this point. SO MAD. read more

Really friendly staff!! Nice store too. I went in early at 9:00 so it wasn't crowded. I got stride rite sandals for only $6.95! I also scored a fisher price little people doll house with all the people an furniture for $25! They had goosebumps books for $2.50! I'll be back! read more

I've been in many clothing stores where it's a buy and sell shop - where you can go in and sell your clothes you don't want and/or need anymore, and other people can go in and buy them at a very cheap and reasonable price! I stopped in for the first time today looking for both boy and girl khakis, for school uniforms. I could not believe the selection here!!! Huge store! So so so many racks of clothes!! Browsing quickly, I think there is a small chance the girls section is larger than the boys section. However, when looking for the khakis, the little boys khaki section was greater than the girls. So my quick judgment may not be very true. But when you think about it, girls wear dresses and cute little cardigans, and other items that boys done own. Walking through I noticed some other items that weren't clothing items, i.e., toys, strollers, jackets(does that count as clothes?). Check them out for a great deal!! I bought 4 pairs of kids khakis today for $26. Prices vary. I'm not sure how they prove the items. But I do know one pair of pant was only $5 and another was almost $9. Either way, you could find some seriously good deals. Always a hit or miss, though, as I hear!! The staff were very nice and friendly, called me ma'am :) I'm originally from the north, so still getting used to this lovely southern hospitality! read more

Worst store, most first, unorganized and most hateful nasty staff ever. The manager who runs the location is so mean with an awful attitude. If she hates her job so much, why did she decide to work where u have to deal with people on a regular basis (customer service) I asked her if she could help me and slide a box 4 feet to me, she told me "no, she was busy" My toddler was in the car and I wouldn't let the car leave my sight for a sec. I couldn't carry my huge bin and a baby at the same time. Another mother put her merchandise down from across the store and came to happily help me. Best selection of kids consignment in the area, hands down. However the trade off is the level of terrible customer service. There were 6 ladies standing behind the counter and still took 20 minutes to check out because only 2 registers were open. They should really be more aware of how challenging shopping with kids in tow can be. Ended up leaving my $100 worth of merchandise and wasting an hour of my time. Very disappointing. If you're in a hurry or have small kids with you, go elsewhere. read more

I was just given a coupon for 20% of of one item. When I went to purchase the item (stuffed giraffe) I was told I couldn't use the coupon until I picked up. I'm not sure what the difference is in a couple of hours but I had to take this you away from my one year old. Nowhere on the coupon did it have any restrictions. I feel that the customer service was less than adequate and I should've been given the discount at that time. I suggest you put the fine print on the coupons you are handing out. I won't be a customer of the store ever again-over $7. read more

Terrible customer service.When i approached the desk (they weren't assisting anyone)to ask for help three young women looked at me then went back to what they were doing.I cleared my throat to ask again and one looked up then left to other area to do something else.None were friendly and when my granddaughter took off in the store and i asked aloud had anybody seen her only other customers responded. Three strikes rule was used here.I gave them three chances to react professionally and/or courteous.Will NOT be back and will recommend to friends and family they not waste their time here. read more

I live in Myrtle Beach area and have visited the store a number of times. I will say the store is large and organized and has nice merchandise. That being said for a customer service based store the customer service is awful it is almost like you are inconveniencing them by making them come to the register to check you out. Not all of the employees are rude and unfriendly but there are a few that are consistently rude. I have also, witnessed management exhibiting the same behavior again I'm sure they are not all rude and inattentive but some are. I have been in management for years and am not sure who thought it was a good idea to have these girls in this position (Bad move). I have been in there when these few employees where not working and have had good to great service. My last experience was what made me decide to write this review I purchased some goods approached the counter and after a longer wait then necessary a girl came up did not say Hello or anything rang my items up, bagged them, slide the bag to me and walked away not saying Thank-You, Good-By or anything I'm sorry but if you are going to work with the public you need some social skills. read more
