Took a whole tub of clothes and received $0.00 offer for my clothing items! There was a Lily Pulitzer dress in the tub which has high resell value and is marketable. Was told all of the items had too much wear and tear. They obviously did NOT go through the entire tub. Such a scam! read more

Weird customer service any time I go. They said they wouldn't look at my clothes because they were in bags disappointing. I wasted my gas and they couldn't even look at the clothes to tell me if they were acceptable or not because I brought them in bags .okay. Not what I would call trendy. Over priced and poor condition goods. They pay minimum for what they take.

Arrived at not even 8pm and they were closed. Listed hours are until 9pm. There was a person inside as well. Seems like they do this all the time based on other reviews. I don't know why you don't just change your hours to reflect how you actually operate, or make a post on your social media pages when you are closing early. Incredibly unprofessional. I've never had a problem with my local Plato's Closets but Im on vacation and wanting to check out the one in the area. I don't know what is up with this location but they need to get it together. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE employee service!! Stated on the website AND door the store closed at 9pm. As we are walking to the door at 7:57pm a girl worker with baggy pants, low bun, and hat on proceeded to lock the door while looking at us. Closing early is OK, I've worked retail, but to not kindly say anything is beyond me. The open sign was still on the door and the open LED was still on. I was in town for a long weekend and had visited this store before. I was excited to go back in and shop here on Black Friday. This will be my last visit! If you aren't here to be nice and helpful then please find another job. The customers are in to spend their hard earned money and expect you to be nice! At the very least not to be rude and act like we are bothering you! During my time in the store not once did any associate ask if I needed help, and I didn't even get a thank you after I paid for what I found. I have never written a review but after my experience today I feel that its extremely important to inform others of this experience. My daughter called ahead to make sure they had enough staff this time to except clothes as we were turned away at the door the first time we tried doing this. They said, yes they are. We packed up her clothes and headed over. (This was our first time ever bringing clothes in to them) We walked in and went to stand in line to wait our turn when the heavy set girl with red hair (Alana I think her name was) behind the counter addressed us rudely with, " You can only leave one bag!" then while still yelling over the customers she was actually waiting on, listed off about 5 items they were only excepting. ( This information would have been helpful if we were told this during the phone call made earlier that day) Then says , We are going to need to see your license. You do have that right? We did as we are grown adults who drive there. As we stood next to a couple bag and two tote bins with tags that they had excepted earlier, we went through the bags and separated the items so only fill them with what they were excepting and filled out the paperwork. We were told to come back in an hour. Never once said hello or can I help you. We felt un welcome and treated like we ruined her day by coming in. We left extremely upset by that experience but thought maybe she was just having a bad day. We came back and 1hr and 45mins later. We were going to shop around first. As I went to look at the clothes on the racks I hear someone yell, " What are your names on the order" so we walk over and give our names. The girl comes back over and hands our bags back to us. We were told they are over stocked in the items we had given them and only took a lululemon shirt (never worn) and would give us $6 for it. There were name brand clothes with tags and sneakers. This was an ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME!! These employees are too busy making videos and posting them on social media. We had planned to purchase new items at their store but left immediately after instead. The level of rudeness was ridiculous and most unprofessional!! If I was the owner of that store and saw how rude my employees treated customers I would embarrassed! Even if they could expect our items, there is absolutely no excuse to treat people the way we're treated today. If I behaved that way at my job I would be fired. We will never go back to that store and will definitely make sure we let everyone know how we were treated and advise others NOT to waste their time or money here. And to the girl at the front who "helped" us, you work at secondhand clothing store and can't even figure out how to do your job or treat customers. I had never been to Plato's closet before so I was not sure of how the process of them reselling my clothes was supposed to go. The ladies working there were so helpful and explained the process. I dropped off my clothing and about 2 hours later I called them and they told me they were done and just needed me to come back. After reading the previous reviews, I was expecting about $10-$20 but I was offered $97. I only brought in one big bag and a small one so I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with everything. Even upon checking out everyone there was lovely and helpful. They were awesome! read more

The employees don't even look at you, talk looking down, short statements and rude. They don't even let you know once your items have been analyzed for selling. They told me 15 mins and I walked around and sat down waiting for almost an hour. They never said anything to me. Plus they didn't accept any of my clothes. Most of theirs looks cheap, mine are not. Horrible customer service! I was apprehensive about bringing my clothes here due to the reviews I read, but decided to bring them anyway. When I dropped my clothes off, the girl at the counter told me I would get a text or email when my clothes were ready- I didn't receive anything. I then completely forgot about the close altogether as I'm in the middle of moving houses and life is crazy (my fault.) I missed a call today from the store and I realized my mistake so I called them back as soon as possible, apologized for forgetting my clothes, and asked what can be done. The gentleman on the phone said, "we donated your clothes because you didn't come back within 24 hours." Mind you, I brought the clothes in DAYS ago. He then transferred the phone to a woman, who told me that the clothes weren't actually donated, they were in the back of the store waiting to be donated. So, now I'm being told two different things by two people who are standing next to each other. At the end of the day, I would have just donated the clothes anyway- however, I'm in shock with the disorganization and complete lack of customer service skills displayed by the employees. read more

I am so genuinely annoyed. I've been to this location over 4 times in the past few months, they either don't accept clothes on Sundays, the time slot is not when they except clothing. And the times i do bring GOOD brand name stuff such as Zara, AE, etc. they say "all pass" or that they are not taking anything. It is so beyond frustrating then to see busted things in the store. Went in with 2 laundry bins and a tote of good quality AE jeans, express pants, free people tops, shein clothes, adidas, etc. they took nothing and only took my trash for $1.47. The whole store was filled with outdated ugly clothes. no wonder this business is on the verge of death. never coming back, would rather give these clothes for free to people who would actually appreciate my donation without giving me the bs speech they give when they don't accept your clothes. freaking clowns. read more

Walked in to sell my clothes, and I dropped off all of my items and she said they'd be ready within 20 minutes or so. So I decided to run another errand while I wait and once I get back, the basket looks the exact same as how I'd left it when I dropped it off and she said she couldn't take ANY of my items due to "stains and I don't know." She couldn't even read the handwriting from the other associate on the paper. Some of the clothes had never even been worn, so I found it extremely hard to believe they'd even looked through it let alone found stains on every single item. Ridiculous. At this point I'd rather give them to Goodwill and get not a penny out of it than have to deal with this. read more

Winchester Va. Is my local Plato's Closet. I visited this store while on vacation in Myrtle Beach and I was really surprised there weren't more beach brand clothing such as Roxy, O'Neil... And I felt it was a little pricey, for example almost all the Under Armour tanks were 12 Dollars. read more

I went in to sell some nice gently used name brand clothing I had sitting in my room and still very in style. I just couldn't fit them. I was given some snoody looks and also was waiting in line for help and took them 10 minutes to notice me. They gave me about $30 for some of my clothing and told me the rest was like Walmart brand and stuff they were overstocked on when in fact there was only one Walmart brand thing and the rest were Hollister, crown and ivy, GAP, Aeropostale, rue21 and many others. They sell the items extremely overpriced and buy each item from you for lot like 2-3 bucks. They also have a very small variety for girls that are made thicker:( definitely wouldn't waste your time here unless you're a size small. At least the little bit of clothing I did sell isn't taking up space in my closet anymore . read more

My second time going to this location and this will be the last time going here, I should of walked away as soon as the store associate started talking he had no personality at all I felt like I was wasting his time truth be he was Wasting my time or I should say me and my 5 year old son Mathew our time What I should do is find a lawyer And Go after him and the other associates for discrimination for me being straight..but any way I left all 70 off my items there with him and he said come b Back an hour It was one bin full of shirts on hangers and 1 gym bag and a backpack full of clothes and accessories So I came back I came in and they said they're gonna pass on all the items I said for what it was reason But one of the reasons was clothing were on hangers they can't accept clothes on hangers so I said OK let me take them off the hangers( Should of mention that when I was checking them in) then So I did all that and now lady said come back in half hour and I have you written up ready to go So I got back there and I noticed they went through the one bin of all the hangers I took off and I said what about the 2 bags right there on the shelf oh they're yours sir she said I said yeah you all checked them in, Can you come back in a little bit yes I came back in standing there waiting and the young man says come to the register I'll take you here so now he tells me we'll buy 5 of your items he says the jeans remember they passed on all the items to begin with the jeans were never on hangers he said the other ones are his too worn I was just in shock really because all the clothes I have were fairly new and from the site it's the brand and size and style they're looking for So I have one sales associate telling me their too nice and the other 1 saying you're too worn out. And the the most frightening thing is the key holder of the store said when looking at my clothes she said we don't accept close with 2XL ON IT Because it's putting down someone for being large so I guess it's a the bad thing to be large in the United States. Stopped in hoping to sell some of my high school clothes that I either no longer wear, or simply just can't fit into anymore. All nice name brand items - hollister, American eagle, banana republic, Victoria's Secret. I brought in 3 grocery bags full of clothes, they took what they thought was still "in" and not out of "date" fashion wise, and they left me with whatever they thought had some wear and tare which is fine. I appreciate them looking out for those who are shopping for nice items. I did get $19.50 out of my bags, of what they wanted. 0 stars should be an option. Ive tried taking my clothes to this location over three times now and every time they tell me they aren't taking clothes when there are people dropping theirs off. I went to the store and the blonde girl working told me they weren't taking anymore clothes in such a snarky manner. Do not try to bring your clothes here!!! The other times I've brought clothes here they kept them all folded the way they were and said they weren't taking them even when they are name brand and never worn before. If I could put zero stars I would , I took a huge bucket of name Brand clothes no stains or anything barely worn clothes and I get home and go thought the bucket to see what was taken and most of the clothes were still folded like i folded them , the lady that serviced me was very rude I waited over an hour and a half before my bucket was even gone thought then 45 mins after they went thought my bucket and still never got a call about it being done after they told me they'd call because they had an "event" going on . I walked though the store and found several jeans that had holes in the crotch and a few pair of shoes that were broken and missing pieces , and so many clothes were over priced , that will be the last time I bring clothes and honestly last time shopping here as well. read more

This place is full of trash. The clothes are disgusting. They were disgusting new and are even cheaper and trashier than goodwill. It smells and the people bringing in garbage bags full of the grossest stuff I have ever seen was a huge red flag. Brought in a box of very gently worn Free People, Anthropologie and Alice and Olivia and and they said they weren't Junior Casual. No they were fine high end clothes not garage sale garbage. This dump is a hard pass. In the meantime I watched them purchase a sweater that had a stain on the front and a pair of 29 dollar jeans with rhinestones on them from belks's that were awful out of a garbage sack. The funniest part is I picked up my boxes and they had not went through them because everything was folded and in the box as I had packed them. I constantly come here. While there may not be a lot of options sometimes, which I blame on the area and its demographics (an older one, to be exact), the staff is amazing! I don't remember her name, but she had medium length blonde hair, sporty outfit and got clothes for me off of mannequins with complete kindness and even searched the back for shorts that would fit me! When I went in the first time I had taken a bunch of old stuff but I was also dressed up and wearing a full face of makeup and they took almost everything. The second time I went in I had a pair of never worn Puma shoes and a bunch of name brand items but wasn't dressed up and had no makeup on and they didn't want anything. Ok so I wasn't exactly sure whether to give them five or four stars... but the more I thought about it the more I realized that for this type of store, gently used clothing, you really can't beat this store!! I've shopped there several times and found awesome deals. Cute sweaters, shirts, jackets, shorts, etc. And they have all the brand names-- seven jeans, abercrombie & fitch- and for just $5-$10 you can have them. It's crazy!! You do have to be a good shopper though to find exactly what you're looking for. They are sorted by color, style and then size. And so far I haven't found any good shoes but I think that's just because of my size- very popular! So if you ever need good, cute clothing that's EXTREMELY affordable and not brand spanking new, hit up Plato's closet for sure. read more

Over Thanksgiving weekend, I took a bunch of clothes (a 40 gal trash bag full to be exact) to Plato's Closet. I filled out the personal information form with the manager that has worked with Plato's for years (she's amazing). When I finished, she said I will get a call when they're finished; I didn't expect to hear anything back from them because of Thanksgiving/Black Friday shopping anyway. A WEEK passed, never heard anything. I stopped by the following weekend to check on my clothes because they normally never take that long and they always called every time before. As I walked in for an update, a tall curly blonde haired girl was there to assist me. After finding my info in their system, she told me they donated everything to Goodwill because "I took to long to pick the rest back up." I then said "I knew ya'll were busy and I was told someone would call me anyway." She proceeded to tell me different stories about their policy. Once she said they have never called clients when their clothes are ready (even though I've been called the all three times I did this before), then she said sometimes they do, sometimes they don't (like that makes sense and inconsistent). Either you call or you don't call, and Plato's should most definitely call before donating the rest. Why even take down my phone number, address, etc. if you are never going to make the attempt to call and make sure before making a decision like that? Ultimately, that is still my property that was not yours to give away, and the policy of calling/not calling needs to be consistent. "Sometimes we call, sometimes we don't call" does not suffice. I was eventually able to get this all out between her frequent attempts to interrupt me. She eventually said, "well you have $21 from everything on store credit." and refused to give it to me in cash. Like I would want to shop there now! Overall, very upset with this experience and I am no longer shopping or taking my clothes there. read more
