DO NOT SELL YOUR CHILDRENS CLOTHING TO THIS STORE! Today was my last time shopping this location unfortunately. Today I learned that after selling to this location for the past 6 years, they ONLY buy clothing that is less than 3 years old. I brought in a tote full to the rim with gently used in season, in style, clothing ranging from coats, tops, bottoms and shoes. Out of about 50+ items I brought in, only 3 items were purchased for a total of a measly $3.30. (For reference, used dirty shoes at this location are sold for $5+ a pair. There has been many times I've seen literal poop on the bottoms of the shoes being sold . So gross) The items they purchased consisted of 2 pairs of formal dress shoes that my daughter NEVER wore. And a pair of fleece lined leggings that looked like they paired with an outfit I also brought in but somehow the outfit was not purchased only the bottoms. When I got my buy receipt, I was advised that "all clothing has a date and they do not accept clothing over 3 years old." This is the first time I heard of such a ridiculous rule. I don't buy my child's clothing from thrift stores and most of the items I brought in were 1 size smaller than what my daughter wears so my items would not have been over 3 years old. So naturally I asked where this magical "date" on the clothing was as the items I was pulling out of my "pass" pile DID NOT have dates. The cashier did not know so she went in the back and pulled out a random vest and showed me a Target brand tag that showed a date behind the size tag. If this is the way OUAC buys clothing then it should be advertised BIG, BOLD, and UPFRONT. We drove 30+ mins to waste our time. I would have been better off donating the clothing to Goodwill and saving my gas and time selling here. They recently renovated the entire store inside and out. Finally getting rid of the smelly carpet. I guess they have to recoup their money somehow right? I attached a photo for reference of the note that was written on my buy receipt . I used to come here all the time, but the past few visits have been disappointing. Each time there has been some sort of issue, whether it's incorrect totals or poor customer service. It seems like things run much better when the owner is present. What's also concerning is the behavior of some employees. In a store full of parents and kids, I've heard staff using inappropriate language and speaking negatively about the owner. Interestingly, I've only heard these comments when the owner isn't there, which makes the environment feel unprofessional and uncomfortable. i'll be going to different locations now but I hope management addresses these issues for other customers. read more

Would not shop here again. Terrible experience and terrible customer service. I had previously sold my used baby clothes here and chosen to receive store credit over cash. Every time I sold I would receive a new store credit and at one point amassed quite a few credits. I would shop frequently as I know the credits expire within 1 yr of issuance. Well I came in to spend the last few credit I had only to find out they had expired. I inquired what happened and that I shopped frequently. Apparently when I purchased my items the sales associates wouldn't necessarily use the oldest credit first to ensure it would get used first since its first to expire. First in first out is a common saying but of course they were lazy and just picked whatever credit was easiest for them to use. I lost over a quarter of my store credit bc of their clearly shady business practice. When I spoke to the owner she suggested I keep track of the receipt and tell her associates which credit to use even though it's solely tracked in their accounting system. Just what moms need- one more thing to keep track of. Will not purchase from here again and will never return. Happy to take my business elsewhere. read more

Years later and nothing has changed. Except for the flooring. They finally got rid of the gross and stinky carpet. This place is a rip off. I only go here when absolutely necessary because the prices they sell things for is outrageous. I've also tried selling old clothing here and nothing makes sense. Some of my nicer maternity items that are in style and great condition are passed over (probably for the better so I can just give them to a friend), but they'll take the things that I wasn't even sure I should bring in (due to wear, outdated, etc). The price they pay you is ridiculously lowball. But if you need to clear out closet space and don't want a total loss on your old clothes, you feel forced to accept it. I thought it was racism against middle eastern liberals as I encountered that before in Ypsi, but the reviews state they're rude to most people. Today I was told that if I didn't give them my phone number (which I declined to do) the regularly priced items I was buying would be a final sales! I have shopped here from the time i was pregnant. Size NB-18m So I can't review the older kid stuff... but most of the deals are great. I've had great finds new with tags and they grow so fast I love feeling like I've got my moneys worth of a $4 top. The pricing can be all over the place at times but not worth arguing about. I've sold to them many times and I feel selling prices are not fair, but for the convenience of getting it out of my house in bulk vs selling on fb market I can't complain. I am pregnant, so I brought some old clothes to sell to get clothes for the baby. I did some research to make sure I was following all of the rules for donating, but apparently it wasn't good enough as there were a bunch of special rules not listed on the website. I've never been treated so poorly by a staff. They brought me to actual tears, and commented on how rude *I* was being because I was actually confused at why the rules were different than the website. I truly aim to treat all sales staff at any location with kindness because it's a hard job! I was so shocked at the treatment I received in return. It was to the point that two gentlemen tried to help me out in the situation but were told that they could not offer their help to me. I have shopped at this location for 11 years, and I have encouraged everyone I know to go here because of the good deals. I will never shop this location again. This will be my last trip here. Before the pandemic we used to come here often to pick up stuff for the kids. Now they have three big things working against them. They have a sign up saying no shoes, to shirt, no mask, no service. However, they allowed many people in wandering around without masks including employees despite saying they required everyone to have masks. They have done away with any bags and now try to get you to buy their overpriced totes. Finally they now charge you 2.5% to pay with a credit card. This feels way out of the norm. Pricing your expenses into your products seems like basic business math skills they lack. read more

Once upon a time there was a kids resale store in small strip shopping center on Washtenaw Ave. It had clothing for children of all ages and mothers-to-be and was often visited by parents and grandparents and everyone looking for a good deal. There were also toys and games and books galore. And baby gadgets for swinging, sleeping and so much more. One day this fairy grandmother visited looking for beautiful gowns to fill the dress-up box of the two princesses who lived in a nearby kingdom. There were so many choices, she scarce could decide, but finally settled on one made of velvet, one gray, one pink and one made of white satin and lace that looked fitting for any royal wedding that might ensue should a prince ride in on his white horse. But, alas this fairy tale did not have the happiest of endings. For the second time in a row, there was trouble with the cash registers and not all the items rang up as advertised. The moral of the story: check the prices as items are scanned and wave your magic wand so the card reader will work on the first try. read more

I have a complaint about a once apon a child location located in Ann Arbor MI. I had dropped off a bin of clothes around 3:30-4:00 this is my first time bringing in clothes to sell. I had to be to work at 5:00 and had asked them how long it will take, the only thing they told me was to be back before 6 or wait for a text from them. So my assumption was that they closed at 6, I never got any text saying my clothes had been looked at so I went in to work at 5. I never received a text from them until 6pm. I call them the next day asking if I can come pick up my bin that had the rest of whatever they didn't buy in it. Which consisted of atleast 300$ of brand new clothing, and all the clothing I owned for my child was in that bin because I was unsure of what types of stuff they took and didn't take. The lady manager told me when I called that they only do same day selling so they donated all my child's clothes. None of which was disclosed to me when I dropped the bin off or posted in the store. I needed the store credit or money to use towards winter clothing, I was ok with them telling me that I got store credit for the items they did want but not ok with them donating the only clothes I own. And my only question is what place is open on a Sunday to even donate to. When asked where they donate the clothes to I was told that she can not tell me that information. I have been rudely talked to and I feel like someone has stolen and took not from me but from my 4 month old who now has nothing. I really want to take this to court or bring this issue up with the local news because this is wrong in more than one way. A recent change in management has meant that store inventory is better organized than it used to be so the buying/buyer experience is better. Quality of sales & checkout help is variable. Often it is a young woman who is not well versed in the importance of cheerful efficient customer service. But you won't go here for the service so much as the price right? Sellers Beware: for all the clothes that I brought in to sell a number of times, roughly 1/3 was rejected and I was offered so little payment for the remainder they agreed to take that I surmised I could have perhaps faired better in a garage sale or a Mom-to-Mom sale...which I participate in from time to time. You will not get much if you're selling your kids outgrown goods. Quality of clothing varies although I will admit my tastes are high (I like Mini Boden, Hanna Andersoon, baby Lu Lu, Catamini, Crew Cuts, etc.) so I'm harder to please. read more

I asked the store on Facebook if they bought "new in box" car seats and was told "yes if in manufacturer packaging". The next day I drove 1/2 hour to sell them by new in box carseat with manufacturer packaging. Upon entering the store, someone who said she was the store manager started yelling at me that it is illegal for them to buy. I told her I had asked the day prior and she went on the Facebook to delete that comment. Very frustrating to get different info from different employees and waste the time & gas. Once upon a child has really gone downhill, at least this one in particular. My friend and I went together and brought in a bin of basically brand new baby clothes, and a little portable bassinet. They didn't hardly buy any of the things (including the bassinet) and what they did buy they gave us hardly any money for. They're so unreasonably picky about what they buy, don't even waste your time bringing in anything. You're better off donating to Salvation Army or something! The service is terrible, we waited for close to ten minutes to even be acknowledged about being checked out. There's no urgency at all, and you're waiting another ten minutes for them to check you out. They have a new policy where if you use a card, they add a tax onto your total like an extra 2.50% or something like that and won't tell you until you're checking out!! Not to mention, one of the employees left a device only they're allowed to take off and I got home only to have to turn around and take it back because they didn't properly take the metal tag thing off. They do have cute and nice clothes, I will give them that but at what cost? Terrible customer service, a lot of their things are overpriced, they don't take back hardly anything you bring in. Something that really caught me off guard was one of the workers was smoking right outside the front door, while my friend and I had our babies with us. The people buying back will find any tiny fuzz on the clothes I've brought in and say they can't buy clothes with dog hair on them. I'm wondering if the dog hair they find on my clothes is because one of the employees brought their dogs in to work and had them there all day. Dropped off clothes in the morning and saw the dogs there, came back to get the unbought clothes in the afternoon and the dogs were still behind the counter barking nonstop. Their prices are disappointingly high, they charge to use credit cards, many garments are stained and the prices don't reflect the wear. When you try to use your rewards points it counts as discount so you can't return any of the clothes. Haven't seen a shop with so many rules that seem designed to drive customers away. I really like this store, some items might be a bit overpriced but overall it's not hard to find what you need at a decent price. I was able to buy a few maternity items, however please buy back more of these! I only found myself a pair of pants and one shirt, not sure if people aren't selling but it would be nice to see more of a selection. I also like how cheap the packs of brand new diapers were. It might be okay for shopping, but I'm done taking my clothes to sell at this store. I brought in a large bin of designer clothing, all in the much needed teen sizes. The bin consisted of name brands such as Patagonia, Nike, Ralph Lauren,theory, free people, banana republic, cole Hahn, north face , etc. all we're in season and in clean, excellent condition. I had to make 2 trips- one to drop off and one to pick up the next day, as they were too busy to look through clothing. They fail to give you a list for the items they purchased from you. There were 3 or 4 expensive items gone from my bin (out of about 35 pieces) and I received all of $11. It's not worth my time to offer my items to this store. I went a block away and donated the rest to a humane society drop off container. From now on, I will save myself the storing, cleaning, packaging, and double trip-it makes more sense, and feels better, just donating straight to charity. read more

OVERPRICED. They have a massive inventory and it's well maintained, but you really have to scrutinize the price tags. The clothes are all a couple dollars too much (compared to nicer clothes you can get at other resale shops) and twice now I've found large items (bike, play pen) to be priced around $25 more than what they retail new. This rating is only in regards to being a shopper, as I haven't had any experience yet in regards to trying to sell items here. Upon walking in, the store is quite small, the aisles are very close to each other, I'd be afraid to come in here with small children or even pushing a stroller, as you can barely get around people if you need to, even on foot. On top of each aisle are all the strollers, rock n plays, etc. so don't forget to look up! That being said, the place is well-stocked with items, and all seemingly in great used condition. I've been here a few times now, and always find a few items I end up purchasing. The best deal was for a graco stroller that normally goes for $100, we got for $40. As far as clothing, I found several Halo sleep sacks, that normally retail for $20 new, and we got for $6.50 used. They also have plenty of cute outfits, arranged by size. Again, as examples, they had fleece sleep & play outfits for newborns for only ~$3-4, and some clearance items for only $1. The items all smell very fresh/clean, likely recently laundered. This place seems to have clothes for kids of all sizes. Contrary to other reviews, the staff seemed more in their 20's or later, I haven't come across any teens. That being said, they mostly stay behind the counter, and don't do much other than check out, just FYI. PSA: Make sure you ask them for a stamps card. I spent $50 the first visit, and nobody told me anything about a points card, sadness! The second visit, someone else told us about it. You get 1 stamp for every $10 you spend. Once you get 20 stamps you get 20% off your next purchase. It seems that sometimes they have special days too, like double stamps days. read more

I have been a customer (buying and selling) of this location for almost 14 years and the staff/policies are becoming increasingly customer-unfriendly. I brought two bins into sell this week and was told that if I wanted to receive cash for my buybacks that I would have to wait in the store, and that it would be about 20 minutes. An hour later I was still waiting, while I saw other customers drop off bins and say that they wanted cash but absolutely could not wait. The policy should be applied uniformly, otherwise I could have just said the same thing and not wasted an hour of my time standing around. During this same visit, I purchased a brand-new pair of snow boots for my daughter. The store was having a "use-your-own-shopping-bag-and-get-15%-off-all-purchases" promotion; I had my own shopping bag, so I was able to get 15% off the purchase price. Unfortunately when I got home I found that the boots didn't fit my daughter, so I brought them back to the store to return only to be informed that (on the receipt) it states "Returns Only On Full Priced Clothing & Shoes". So because the boots were bought using the 15% off promotion, EVEN THOUGH they were still brand-new and with the tags on ... the store refused to take them back for a refund. Nobody informed me of this policy before I bought the boots (once it's printed on the receipt, isn't it already too late and unfair to the purchaser??), otherwise I wouldn't have bought them and would have brought my daughter into the store to try them on rather than dealing with the hassle of buying/returning. I will not return to this location and will not patronize this business any longer. Their policies have become increasingly customer-unfriendly and the small amount of money I get back from selling things and that I save by buying used things is just not worth the aggravation to me. read more

I've been buying and selling all my kids' clothes here for 8 years, and it can be a great deal. But watch out when you sell your kids' clothes! If you choose store credit instead of cash, you get a little more. But those store credits expire!!! They did not outline how the business worked and upon dropping off items to be resold and when I returned curtly told me I didn't understand. Four years ago when my daughter was first born I really loved shopping here. They have a great selection for most things but the past few times I shopped here more recently (2018/2019) I have noticed their prices have gone way up. It honestly costs the same to by basic children's clothing from Target or Carter's brand new as it does to buy used clothing here. I've also sold a lot here and it's hit or miss. The selection of things they buy is so random. I've taken in brand new shoes and coats and they decline them, but buy other things I'm more surprised by. Still, I have also found some good deals here. If you can snag snow pants here it's great, but they go fast, as do coats. Buying books here is great too. I guess you could say there are things I both like and dislike. I hope they lower their prices again when they realize they are charging what the stores are charging for brand new items. read more
