My issue, however, is with the abhorrent waiting area & lobby. With as many families and children who enter and exit the building, there is zero excuse not to have built a larger more accommodating front lobby. Kids and teens kick off their shoes and leave them EVERYWHERE while the lack of seating forces some parents to wait in the car (keep in mind, there is only curbside parking unless you leave your vehicle across the road in a CVS lot). I wish they could knock out a wall, reduce the size of the main studio or figure something out. Again, not much thought was put in to this aspect of the facility. While I stress that the actual instruction is outstanding, there is very little organization when it comes to ushering students aged 3-6 in & out of their lesson. This age requires guidance and direction, but in between classes is a free-for-all. Instructors should retrieve, line up and lead their students into whichever area they're heading to. Given the aforementioned situation with the waiting area, it'd be a huge help in reducing some of that front lobby chaos. Ms. Pat is incredibly knowledgeable, kind hearted and direct with both her staff and the families who attend. It's a great studio, especially for first timer little ones and I recommend DDA to anyone seeking options for dance. Just be aware of the surrounding factors listed above and you won't be as surprised/frustrated as I've seen some parents be.

Not only is the caliber of dance impressive, the culture of the studio is as well. While most of the dancers have grown up there, new dancers are welcomed every year and are a part of the family in no time. They regularly do extremely well at competitions, and regularly have dancers winning titles such as Petite Mr. and Miss Dance of Michigan, Teen Miss Dance of Michigan, and Miss Dance of Michigan. I HIGHLY recommend PCPDC for anyone looking for a dance studio in the area. Whether you're looking for recreational or competition classes, this is the studio experience that you are looking for.

This situation that I am mentioning now is not the first and only time I have dealt with problems from this studio. I have dealt with years of belittlement and discouragement from this place, so much that it is a clear pattern. This is just the last and most public issue I have faced here. What started as typical teenage girl drama was left unresolved, despite many complaints and concerns shared and noticed by staff and students, quickly became very toxic and thrived in the environment that has been created at this studio. To make a long story short, the toxicity of this studio got to a point where it was negatively impacting my mental health so bad that I decided after 14 years that I needed to step away before my last recital. I did not make this decision lightly but it was clear that I was not genuinely cared about by the owner of this studio. After a very heated argument amongst the senior competitive team, Becky Simpson very unprofessionally yelled at us and told us we were ruining her recital. After I stepped away from the studio, Mrs.Becky called my personal number to deliberately attack me and my character. She went as far as calling me a "coward" for leaving the studio and told me that "I will go nowhere in the real world". She also told me she had "several" meetings with members of the studio who were "scared" of me but withheld this information from me until I decided to stand up for myself by leaving her studio. Mrs.Becky belittled me to the point where my dad had to get involved to stand up for me, and Mrs.Becky hung up the phone. Mrs.Becky went as far to comment on a public facebook page about my mom and I. I was an assistant teacher for her Kinder-dance class, I would miss days of all of my own classes to substitute for teachers when they would text me at school that they needed help, and I was even personally asked to and babysat Mrs.Becky's granddaughter over winter break. Wouldn't you think they would ask a very respectful, responsible, and trustworthy student to do that? My mom also worked the front desk, stoned costumes for dances I wasn't even in, and put HOURS into this studio to help Mrs.Becky. After I left, my mom asked for the last month of the seasons tuition back since I was no longer a part of the studio. We did receive this back at the expense of a very derogatory letter and text claiming my mom did not "fulfill her duties at the studio" and that my mom was harassing Mrs.Becky. I was more than willing to leave this all in my past because I know I am going to go far in my future despite what Mrs.Becky has had to say about me, but after all she has said about me and my family to others and to the public, I feel it is very important that any current or incoming students and families consider what I went through before you pour your heart and put this much dedication into a studio.
