Walking in, I showed my prepaid label to the attendant and asked whether it was better to check in on a tablet or with her directly. The attendant responded dismissively, asking what I was doing there 5 minutes before my appointment, which made me feel undervalued as a customer. My experience was marred by her dismissive attitude, which made me feel unwelcome despite having prepaid for my bloodwork. I proceeded with a corporation report, and today, April 22, I received a call from Labcorp apologizing, explaining, and presenting her side of the facts: she was "surprised" because I showed up 5 minutes earlier, given that the area around is full of homeless people. I appreciated the acknowledgment and the effort to clarify the situation. Then Labcorp, through their employee, assumed I was a homeless person, even presenting the pre-paid label of my appointment. I told the lady at the front desk that I felt like I was having a heart attack. She immediately brought me back and 3-5 people jumped in and worked on me. They immediately called an ambulance for me to be rushed to the hospital. It wasn't a heart attack but it was an arrhythmia. Normal heart rate is 60-100 bpm, my heart was at 240 bpm!!! That was terrifying. When I was at the hospital, the doc and cardiologist said it was good I went to urgent care when I did bc they were able to get my vitals and heart scans to quickly determine it was SVT. I want to say a huge THANK YOU to the ladies at AFC. If it wasn't for your quick action and quick assessment, I don't know what would've happened. The hospital might not have received the info to determine it was SVT. I am in treatment now and recovered fully with a preventative plan. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

First time needing to go to Urgent Care in San Diego on a Saturday afternoon. With a quick search,…read moreAFC Urgent Care Mission Valley was the closest location to me. The website was easy to navigate with the option to walk-in or schedule an appointment. I opted to schedule an appointment in two hours. The appointment scheduling system was a breeze and very user friendly. I saved a bunch of time uploading my Driver's License, Insurance Card and filling out all my information. I received text and email updates. I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment and the receptionist was friendly and checked me in, even though there was a QR code to scan for self-check. The waiting room was 75% full, so I opted to sit near the door one seat away from other patients on either side. While waiting there was a steady flow of patients coming and going. What I disliked was when a new patient sat right next to me when there was a row of three empty seats. I feel like it's just good manners to sit far apart when possible. Nurse Ashley took me back to check my vitals 8 minutes after my schedule appointment. Instead of measuring my height and weight she asked me. She did take my blood pressure, pulse and temperature. She brought me back to wait in a treatment room. After 15-20 minutes she came back to inform me that I will be seen by a provider shortly and thank you for waiting. I made myself comfy in the armchair. It was probably another 30 minutes before Dr. MacKenzie came in. She asked a few questions, took a look at me, gave me her diagnosis but wanted a second opinion and asked me to wait a little longer. Another doctor came in, asked some questions, looked at me and felt my eyes, gave the same diagnosis and departed. Dr. MacKenzie explained the diagnosis, prescribed a steroid, antihistamine and topic ointment. These were all ready for me before I arrived at my preferred pharmacy. What I appreciated the most was her level of care. I respected that she took time to get a second opinion and thoroughly explained everything to me and answered all my questions. While it's never fun to go to the hospital, she eased my anxiety for sure. I highly recommend this location for urgent care needs and hope that you are lucky to get Dr. MacKenzie.

I still have pain, numbness, and tingling in my left forearm, elbow, and ring/pinky fingers more…read morethan three months after a colonoscopy with Dr. Copur where my painful IV wasn't removed when I said it hurt. It then infiltrated during the procedure and was still left in my arm. This is called NEGLIGENCE. Note that I am a perfectly healthy person who has no risk factors for complications, so this could happen to you as well. Don't be fooled by how nice the nurses are or how well landscaped or pretty the facility is. Dr. Guy, the anesthesiologist, and the staff couldn't be bothered to spend five minutes to remove my painful IV even though that is standard of care. I spoke up about it several times. They still got paid, so who cares, right? My UCSD PCP, Dr. MacFarlane, essentially told me I was a nut job who made up my symptoms ("overly sensitive due to medical trauma") when I went to him in tears two weeks later still in intense pain and with symptoms of nerve compression. I then dropped UCSD Health as my provider due to his disgusting, negligent evaluation of my injury as well as Dr. Copur's failure to follow up or provide any post-op instructions for IV infiltration. I do have medical PTSD from a previous medical error that occurred with my anesthesia when I had surgery for cancer years ago in my 20s. Any procedure with anesthesia is VERY hard for me to do. I had this talk with Drs. Copur and Guy, as well as all nurses who saw me in pre-op. They violated my body and my trust anyway through their sloppy "care," as did Dr. MacFarlane when he weaponized my trauma against me. Which makes it all so much worse. I had to establish care with Scripps to get a proper evaluation. I have now been diagnosed, and have an EMG pending that will evaluate nerve damage. I start physical therapy this week. I hope it helps so my arm will stop hurting and I can regain all my physical strength that's been lost. There is no accountability, ever, for bad medical professionals unless you're dead or lose a limb, so getting my arm rehabbed is my goal.

For HIV testing at this site, I find it best to make an appointment. When they say they're trying to banish the sigma of HIV testing, they mean it. It's an intensely relax atmosphere. The decor is modern and definitely sets the mood they're going for. There's one computer station to surf the internet while waiting. I got in right away with my appointment and the whole thing took 30 minutes. After explaining the consent forms and procedure, they pricked my finger for the rapid test. The results are faster than the mouth swap by 10-20 minutes. During the 10-15 minutes waiting time for the results, the worker asked me further questions about my sexual practices and explained things if I needed it. It wasn't my first time at the rodeo, so I didn't really need much explanation. Then, I got my rapid results and was taken into a room to get my blood drawn for the Early Test. Done and done. PS Note that there are limits to every test and know what the results are telling you. While the Early Test detects recent infection well, the Rapid Test detects a wider time frame. It's important to pick the appropriate test for your possible exposure time frame. I like to do both for the overlap.
