Came on Friday and Wednesday for lab draw. Making and appt online is super easy. Short wait after checking in at the kiosk. Small waiting room but multiple sturdy chairs Mari did a great job. Great bedside manner. Came back Wednesday. The person didn't have the best bedside manner. No name tag or badge. Was unable to get all of the blood so she called Mari in to help. The original girl came back to label the blood. They had me sign a piece of paper saying that the blood was labeled in front of me, but then didn't finish labeling the blood in front of me. Quest Diagnostics Labs are located in various locations. I've been a longtime customer for the labs located on North Camden Drive in Beverly Hills. During my overextended stay in San Diego while helping my friend, I had to continue my self care and have had lab work done at this Hillcrest location which is next to Scripps Mercy Medical Center. Subterranean parking is available, convenient but for a fee and not validated by the lab. Quest Diagnostics had all my info already and the online appointment system makes things easy with less paperwork. After scheduling my appointment, go into the lab, check in using their kiosk and within minutes, the lab tech calls my name. The lab techs are professional, they have the surfaces clean and wear gloves. They sterilize instruments and my arm before the Jab which I cannot watch as I am very squeamish and might faint if I see all the amount of blood they draw out...Ouch! yikes!! I do wish they would have early morning appointments because when appointments are not until mid afternoon, the long stretch of fasting can make me weak and faint. Recently my health had diminished from some unexplainable reasons and hence lab work was needed and sometimes retested to determine accuracy. After multiple lab work results, nothing alarming resulted so, I am relieved and less worried, about my health but still feel fragile. I made an appointment for 8:10am online. Check in was easy on the kiosk, but there is nobody to help you or answer questions. You need to scan your drivers license and insurance card at the kiosk. The waiting room is pretty small. The annoying thing is that you can't talk to a physical person when calling their phone number. I tried to call regarding additional labs needed after making my appointment and I couldn't speak to anyone. I was called for my appointment shortly after checking in, but since I didn't have a physical copy of the additional labs, they made me go back to the waiting room and email them to and email address they gave me. At least they told me they would print them out for me, but I was just surprised that they could not pull them up electronically (since I had received an email from Quest that my doctor ordered the labs...). So my tip would be to have printed copies of your lab orders when you go. The technician was fine. They usually have a hard time finding my veins, so unfortunately I had to get stuck in both arms. She tried again on the second arm with a butterfly needle and that worked. No bruising, so I can't really complain. Results were sent to my doctor the next day. There really isn't much for street parking in the area, so I end up having to pay $4 in the ACE garage. They don't validate parking. Bottom line: make an appointment, bring physical copies of you lab orders and you likely will have a great experience. read more

This was my second visit to this lab in 6 months. I always make an appointment to avoid the wait. Their online scheduling system is straightforward. The check in process is breezy. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes to be called. Both times the technician where friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. From the time I arrived to walking out the door, no more than 20 minutes. This is the closest lab to me and my experience has been good both times. Good thing to note is that I'm not left with bruises after my blood draw. That happens sometimes when they can't get it in the first poke. I will keep coming here in the future! Street parking is limited during afternoon hours. My appointment yesterday was great. Checked in for my appointment and was promptly called, maybe 2 min. Wait. Fabulous . . Technician Brenda was simply outstanding. She was excellent, kind and successful. The best . . Not even a pinch inserting needle. In the past I've felt a little something . . Perfect take a deep breath timing. Thank you . . 3 tubes and I was done. Very thorough, asked if I was ok during process. Signed note pad and I was out the door . . Less than 10 minutes tops. If you want fast lab results don't use this company. My old insurance would cover me going to get blood work at Scripts Coastal Medical Group. I would just walk in with no appointment needed and have my results back with in 4 days. I get the same blood work done through Lab Quest and it literally take almost 2 weeks get my results back! This has happened to me, the last 3 times I have gotten a blood draw and I will " NEVER USE" Lab Quest again. read more

Horrible experience and will never go back to this lab location. Went in as a walk-in for a glucose test for my pregnancy and the wait was long especially after a holiday which is totally understandable and I understood. Once I went in for my beginning of the test one of the nurses told me to drink a sugary drink and they'd draw blood in an hour, "if it reaches 10:55am (5 minutes before the timer went off) please start knocking so we can not miss your draw". Was in the waiting room at 10:50am waiting to be called, started knocking and knocking harder from 10:55am-11:00am. A different nurse finally saw me as she was passing by and I had told her that the hour timer went off already and I had been knocking. She had already looked fed and up and she took me and took my blood it felt as if she put in the needle so hard but in my head I thought it was just me although days prior i had a draw with the ER on my other arm TWICE and it never hurt like how she drew it. I want to say 20 minutes later i took off my bandage and I have A BLOWN VEIN/HEMATOMA the size of a marble, its absolutely disgusting and it hurts. I understand it was a busy day and you may be angry but theres no reason to draw my blood with force and carelessness. Good thing it went down in size the next morning but i am still in pain. This is the third time I have set up an appointment in advance only to walk in, sit down, and be told 15 minutes later that their systems are down and that they can't take anyone without a physical lab requisition. Why can't Quest send out notifications to patients that the systems are down for the location that you're scheduled to be at? It's a complete waste of time for everyone, especially you're fasting (like myself). Zero communication and organization. read more

I use to do walk in. stopped after waiting for 5 hours one time. so I make appt. a few people got up and walked out. they thought they were being in when they showed up. I told them no, that they do appt firsts. maybe if a human was there to check people in they would have known . had one today. confirmed and saved for it. went today and checked in. first they have no one there to help people figure out the check in . an elderly women was there had no idea. I helped her and she got checked in. no one would help her. It was my first time at this quest location, and I wasn't thrilled about it, I thought it was the closest one to my house, and yes, but I was wrong, it's in Hillcrest around all the hospitals, parking was crazy, traffic was crazier, I couldn't find any on the street to park my car, and my Mother was on a walker, I am glad I got here super early to drive around and looking for one spot, finally I found one meter, because I refused to pay more than $4 for an appointment that probably last 15-20 minutes. Anyway our appointment was at 12:45 PM, but I checked in earlier, and still the process was faster than any other quest locations, we got back to our car at 12:25 PM and still have 33 minutes left, so my suggestion to you if you're going here, time yourself, be early, the sooner the better, I like the service here, but location wise, no PS: there's some parking spaces in the back alley and you can access thru the back entrance of quest without going thru the front of mercy medical, but make sure you have a disabled placard read more

Truly only of the most intentionally poorly run companies out there. Nobody works at the front desk, nobody answers the phones, very intentionally so you can't ask questions. The only people who care are the employees, who are caught between their patients and incompetent management, by design of said management. Only go to Quest Diagnostics if you absolutely have to, otherwise avoid at all costs. My experience: -They told me to go here for a drug screening, which they no longer provide here. -Running over an hour behind with appointments -Sent me to a new location from which the results could not be accepted -Impossible to talk to anyone other than going to the facility and ambushing an employee when they come out to call a patient. - Employees are helpful as they can be, given the companies poor business practices. read more

I came to the location yesterday and absolutely no one was up front, the phone was off the hook and documents with confidential information was strewn across the desk. Came again today with an appointment. Came 15 minutes early. Watched multiple people go before me. I am still waiting for my appointment as we speak, someones appointment was an hour earlier, she came an HOUR late and after me and was seen before me. This entire system is ridiculous. Absolutely zero customer service, faults people who are ON TIME to their appointments by letting people who had appointments earlier in the day that they where late for come before those waiting. Came here and saw several elders struggling to check-in. One lady had arrived an hour before her appointment but accidentally scanned an old appointment QRC and the system did not let her change it. She mentioned it to the Quest staff and they just told her to try again, by that time the system did not let her check in because she had missed her appointment slot. She was so frustrated she wanted to cry. Absolutely horrible. Quest needs to do better and have check-in assistance/help! read more

While my experience was fine while I was waiting for my turn there was a confused elderly man that did not understand how to use the kiosk they require you to use to check in eventually a worker came out to assist him, however because he was very grouchy and confused and did not speak English well the worker refused to help and became very rude with him and actually told him they did not need to serve him and told him to go home after she mocked him for failing to understand how to use his phone and the kiosk,while he was a difficult patient to assist I still feel this staff member should have expressed more empathy and patience this girl should not be working with the public especially in an environment where there could potentially be people that require extra assistance. read more

If I could give this site zero or negative stars I would. I waited over 2.5 hours to get blood drawn and left without being seen like many other clients that morning. (Their on line appointment system was impossible to work with and schedule an appointment with.) There was no one at the front desk. There was no one to answer the phone, answer questions or confirm that phone / fax orders had been received. Basically; everyone just waited and hoped they would eventually be seen. It was a total joke---people were constantly leaving without being cared for. When they finally called me, everything was totally screwed up on their end. Having wasted over two hours, I left and got my test order sent to the LabCorp site down the hall. LabCorp was awesome and had me in and out in ten minutes. I will never use Quest again. They have atrocious customer service and are a shame to the field of clinical laboratory diagnostics. read more

While their lab techs are... passable, they have the worst customer service possible. They intentionally have NO HUMAN CONTACT. Want to make a (necessary) appointment? Then use their on-line app, which is flaky as hell, and often refuses to function. There are no people at the (always closed) window, and their phone help tree is one-way only. They tell you what they want you to do (demand what you do), but there is no option for any sort of real help. If you wade through several menus on-line, expect to wait 45 minutes or more if you can get through to their 'customer service' line, which is... functional. read more

I had a really bad experience yesterday at Quest Diagnostic. When my parents and I arrived at Quest Diagnostics, I was surprised there wasn't a bunch of patients. I went to check them in digitally, because it was the only option they had, despite the majority of clients were elders. Anyway, I tried to check in as fast as possible because we had arrived 8 minutes late. When I finished, they called my mom right after, then I sat in the waiting area for my dad to be called. After 15 min, I asked an employee when his appointment would begin and she informed me that he'd be called in a few moments. An hour later, I asked another employee and she told me that we didn't check in correctly, and we had to do it again. While we were waiting for my dad to be served, two ladies shared their bad experience with the service. And I also observed that a patient arrived, tried to check in, and no employee tried to help him, only another patient tried to help him, but he ended up leaving frustrated. I really don't understand why this workers don't care about their patients and the time they take to be there. I understand that the employers are doing the job that they're hired for, but there weren't any receptionist to help people need's. I am really disappointed that this place makes their decisions based on a computer. This shows that they have a lack of feelings, empathy and common sense. read more

The lady was rude and she told me they accept both my insurances but not both on the same card, then she told me to go to labcorp because they will accept it and then they sent me back to quest to get a printout of the lab order, so I did that and quest said they couldn't print it out because it's confidential yet I'm the patient. I've been coming here for labs and my glucose testing. I find it very strange that people get upset when waiting since they are a walk-in. Or when they leave the room to find their name has been called while they decided to walk out of the office. The check-in kiosk works. You have to wait until you see a red dot, then move it away until the red dot encompasses the whole ID card or whatever you are scanning. I would recommend scheduling an appointment, if you find your time is valuable, due to them always being so busy. The ladies inside are nice, and I've seen them firsthand having to deal with entitled individuals with nasty attitudes. They don't get paid for that. Two other people made it in and out before I was helped-- an 11 o'clock appointment and a walk-in. The ladies were rude and standoffish. Just a weird vibe-- one of the other guys in the waiting room and I looked at each other and laughed because of how strange the whole thing was. And my sample was compromised!! I thought I was being punked when I came to this Quest. It is super hard to find. I called and they said it was in the basement of a tall grey building by Scripps. The building is brown and it is not underground in a basement, but rather on the first floor. Anyway, I waited 20 minutes in the waiting room before anyone came out to greet me. There was another couple of people waiting. Then 3 employees came out at once apparently just talking in the back. The red head with bangs had helped me. She ate M&Ms while she typed my tests into the computer right next to a sign that said no eating in the draw rooms. She then wiped her hands on her smock and drew my bood. Hygenic. She told me all about her life while she drew my blood but I was already put off. I will go to there other Hillcrest location exclusively and hope they do not share employees. read more

Walked in and Ashley drew my blood... I know I need to lay down when giving blood, because I stop breathing during the process. I felt less than nothing and asked how many vials they needed, she answered 2.5 but I'm sure she was almost done. I downright loathe giving blood (that's what our skin is for; to keep it in(?) right? One star is generous. Avoid Quest in general and this location in particular at all costs! This place is badly organized, and poorly run. Even with an appointment patients must check in through a totally automated kiosk in the waiting room, which is standing-room only with many maskless patients packed in. There is no receptionist and the reception window is permanently covered up. Arrived early for my appointment, third in line to check in through what was a lengthy process for everyone ahead of me. In particular, an elderly couple was having considerable trouble with the automated system, but there were no employees around to help explain anything to anyone. Finally it was my turn at the check in kiosk! I got part way through the process when the system gave me an automated notice that as it was then more than 10 minutes past my appointment time, my appointment had been cancelled!!! I went behind the door to find someone, a technician who chastised me for being late (I was not) told me there was no record of my appointment in their system (though I had verified the location and time online using my confirmation code before leaving home), and then went out and told everyone they were running way behind. She started calling out people's names, one person corrected her in his name (apparently there was a slight mistake in how it had been entered into the system) and she replied angrily: "Well this is how it's written and this is what you'll respond to here!" I decided not to trust my veins to such a shady outfit and walked out. Will be asking my doctor to order my lab work through another provider. read more

I had an appointment on Friday at 8:40am. I completed all of the registration requirements on line prior to the appointment and received a text the day before with simple and easy to follow instructions for my arrival. When I arrived and checked in I was instructed to enter the waiting area and I did not have to deal with the Kiosk which apparently from reviews and my observation that day can be quite challenging to maneuver. I was also lucky to get Jocelyn as my phlebotomist, I had read reviews about how great she is. Jocelyn is truly professional, proficient and personable. Even though Jocelyn had to manually add my info and orders in the computer; a task which seems could have been done by someone else prior to my appointment, but as a RN I understand staffing issues, process, and the time constraints we all work under.
