From the moment I arrived, the appointment was treated as a follow-up visit. In my view, this was not a follow-up; it was a correction of an unsuccessful procedure. Despite this, I was required to pay for another office visit. I do not consider this fair or ethical. I expected the clinic to take responsibility for a treatment that did not achieve the intended result and to show greater consideration for its patients. I have been a patient of this clinic for several years, but after this experience, I have decided not to return. I am sharing this review so others can be aware of my experience and make an informed decision.

Dr. Thosani is not only beautiful on the outside, but even more so on the inside. She has an incredible bedside manner, takes her time to thoroughly explain everything, and makes sure you understand the "why" behind the treatment plan. I was especially impressed when I needed staples in my head. I was hesitant at first, but she carefully explained why staples would be better than stitches in my case. She even drew out a diagram to show how staples would allow for better healing and hair growth compared to sutures. That level of care and attention truly went above and beyond. Everyone in the office was so kind and welcoming. The entire staff made me feel comfortable from start to finish. Her medical assistant, Gio, was absolutely fabulous as well. Dr. Thosani is knowledgeable, skilled, serious when she needs to be, yet warm and even funny -- she made the entire experience much easier than I expected. As someone who works in the medical field, I know how rare it is to find a provider who combines exceptional skill, genuine compassion, and true passion for what they do. My first impression is that Modern Dermatology does not trust that I will come to my appointments. Here is part of their no show policy. I just had a really weird experience here trying to get dysport injections. I said I wanted a…read morenatural look, PA Gabriela said that was "not possible" it's either "frozen or nothing". Proceeded to try to get me to do $660 worth of dysport for my forehead and crows feet which I refused. I told her I have never paid more than $350-400 for a natural look. She then said I looked uncomfortable and that I probably wasn't going to be happy with the results. I said I was fine, it seemed more like she wasn't fine with me setting a budget. She finally did what i asked and it looks good so far just really weird that she tried to get me to do something I didn't want just to charge me more money. Also before she came up with the $660 price she had to leave the room because she couldn't count up how many units I needed in her head. I counted it on my phone as she was saying it and it was 88. She came back in and said I needed 132.

They offered me one available time at a location that was significantly further, when I inquired about why no one contacted me about the change they said it was strange that they did not. However due to a history of melanoma and other skin cancer and a busy work schedule I decided to keep my appointment and try the other doctor. I believe her name was Katie, was not nearly as thorough as Nohe. She made no mention of my history with melanoma, and didn't ask if I had any concerns I wanted her to look at. She said everything looked good and sent me on my way. Now I'm not feeling super confident in how my appointment went.. I did have a few spots I would have liked looked at as well as the opportunity to talk about dermatitis that comes and goes. I went ahead and made my next appointment with Nohe (who apparently still sees patients at the office I went to????) if you're going to see anyone here make sure it's Nohe. He's been great, so attentive to my care, caring toward the fact that I have a family history of other cancers and the fact that I had melanoma so young. Upon asking why, she said the file stated that I was "unhappy with" the check-in process. She explained that forms need to be filled out either through the portal, or they send a link to your cell phone. When I made the appointment, I told them that I do not do portals and I do not have a personal cell phone. They could have told me at that time those were the only two options for filling out the forms and declined to make the appointment. They set me up for failure. It was a 15 mile trip to the office. They don't have iPads or anything in the office to fill out the required paperwork. Even my neurosurgeon's office has the iPads. First of all, I don't do portals. Second of all, I don't have a personal cell phone. The office manager sent me a copy of their notice of privacy practices a week ago after I had made the appointment. The receptionist was extremely rude, even after I told her I don't have a personal cell phone she asked me what time I wanted to reschedule for next monday. I had to remind her that I don't have access to a calendar because I don't have a personal cell phone. That went right over her head, demonstrated by the blank look on her face. I reminded her that even if I rescheduled, we would run into the same problem. She said 'oh' as if that thought never dawned on her. This office is the worst possible place to get services from. I was basically punished for not using portals or having a personal cell phone. That is ridiculous.

She is incredibly condescending, rude, and dismissive. A visit to the dermatologist shouldn't feel this stressful or unwelcoming. The only positive experience I had at this office was with Dr. Slobodny. If I could only see her, and not deal with the rest of the office staff, I would remain a patient at this practice. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a practice that respects its patients and maintains basic professional standards.
