Rude receptionist upon check-in, and a separate rude receptionist upon check-out. I'm not sure what has happened here, but the customer service was much better a few years ago. My son's experience with the assistant during his appointment was also sub-par. Glad orthodontia is complete and we won't be returning but taking maintenance appointments elsewhere. read more

After having the most amazing dentist appointment for myself over at New Haven Dental Center... today was polar opposite here at OMI. My daughter needs braces and I was initially going to have them done with her general dentist because their orthodontist was in network with my insurance. I was quoted about $4k out of pocket with my insurance. Not too bad. But then we had a Health Fair at my job and Dr. Johnson and his wife were there promoting their business, OMI. They told me they were in network with our insurance AND there is a 5% discount incentive since I work at Sweetwater. I sign up, I get a call, we go in and they razzle and dazzle us with their fancy technology. I get my contract and even with my insurance and the discount I'm over $5k out of pocket. But you know what? The place looks nice and everyone was nice (that day) so I felt like we were in good hands. That was in June... Today we went in for her 2 month post fitting appointment. I arrived early as usual but no one is at the desk. No big deal, it's around lunchtime so I just sit and wait to be checked in. Another patient walked in with her kids and walked around the desk to track down the receptionist. We get checked in, no big deal. 30 mins or so later my daughter is done and is brought to the desk to check out. The next appointment gets scheduled, receptionist hands the appointment sticker to my daughter and we leave. I've driven about 3 miles and I'm on the freeway heading to our next errand when my phone rings and my car dash shows OMI. I'm thinking they must have scheduled the wrong type of appointment but I'm wrong. It's Brie the receptionist. First thing she says is "I tried talking to you but I wasn't able to obviously" which confused me because I was in the lobby for the last 45 mins and there was no attempt, and you said goodbye when we checked out, thus completing the appointment for today.... She proceeds to tell me that they have not been paid by my insurance and she will be rolling that responsibility on to me. I tell her that I will need to contact my insurance to see what is going on with the billing. She cut me off while I was trying to explain to her that I AM DRIVING RIGHT NOW AND DO NOT HAVE ANY DOCUMENTS IN FRONT OF ME. 3 times I tried to tell her that I will call her back after calling my insurance, and 3 times she cut me off to tell me that I'm wrong and that the billing is right. I had to pull over to compose myself because of how upset I was. I've worked in the medical industry for 15 years and I know how billing is done. I know the difference between in network and out of network. Never have I called a patient after leaving an appointment to tell them that I was going to charge them what their insurance didn't pay. I already know if my insurance doesn't pay that it is my responsibility, but I should be given the opportunity to look into the claim and follow up, right? Well, turns out OMI is in fact, out of network with my insurance. The office manager and Brie called me back on speaker phone to discuss the contract once I had gotten home and logged into my insurance portal. As we went back and forth about the financials I heard Brie laughing and repeating herself as if I was stupid. So now we are done here. It's not about the money. It's about the respect and professionalism. I'm transferring my daughter out and will not be returning. I'd rather give my money to a practice that is honest and professional and makes us feel welcomed. Like NEW HAVEN DENTAL CENTER! I can't see myself returning to that staff for the next year and a half and feeling this kind of angst. Not worth it. read more

Now that my two kids have gone through phase 1 with this company I can voice my experience. Most office staff are nice, several times I called to get appointments for fixes the next day after what they did was causing issues, poking, bleeding etc and they were always booked solid. Even when trying both locations. A five min appointment to fix something, you wait a week while your child suffers. I got to the point that I would just remove whatever and wait for the already scheduled appointment. I feel phase 1 is them taking your money and not really caring what the teeth look like, 4-5k per child and the rush them through phase 1 and give you their most expensive retainer and say $375 to replace it. Come on! The provider is nice but I definitely don't feel the treatment plan and the treatment from office staff was worth the cost. I should have gotten more opinions before picking this office, I encourage you to shop around. read more

I came to this place about 2 or 3 years ago for an orthodontic consultation, because my sisters go here for their treatment. I personally was not completely impressed. I liked that they had lots of updated technology, and that they took x-rays and pictures of my teeth and did a very thorough consult. HOWEVER, they key thing for me was how pushy it felt. I felt like they just wanted my money and they didn't care how my teeth would turn out. Finally, i thought they were very expensive compared to other orthodontist in town! read more

Was alright to begin with but then my son's jaw moved to far from the first treatment , so of course round 2 for their mistake. $$$ Then finally gets them off and glue comes undone from bottom retainer. Again their shotty work but I have to pay for it. If you don't care about money or quality I highly recommend this place. read more

Be careful of their "bait & switch" tactics! I took my daughter to Cohen & Johnson after attending multiple consultations. Dr. Dellinger had been my first choice up until my consultation at Cohen & Johnson due to the course of treatment he was offering which included contouring of my daughter's gum line. When I brought this course of treatment up, I was told that Cohen & Johnson could offer the same service in their office for a very comparable price. I was given 2 options for my daughter. Straighten her teeth and prep her for veneers or straighten her teeth and do the gum contouring. We picked the second option. Imagine our surprise when a few months into treatment we are told that my daughter is almost ready for her veneers. I immediately contacted the office and informed them that this is NOT the option we chose during our consultation. At that time, I believed that we had straightened everything out and were on the same page. Now, months after my daughter's treatment has ended, Cohen & Johnson have decided that my daughter has too much gum tissue and they aren't comfortable doing the contouring in house. They have referred us to a specialist for the work which will be VERY expensive. Have they offered a refund of any of the treatment fee since they are no longer comfortable doing this work in house?? NO. Both doctors have known the amount of gum tissue my daughter had since the consultation. This is NOT something new. It is NOT a surprise to them. Instead they lured us in with promises of providing this service only to tell us at the end of treatment that they can't/won't do it due to her amount of gum tissue (which has never changed!!!). Why couldn't I be told that UP FRONT so I could have made the best treatment decision for my daughter??? Now I have to pay another dentist for services I already paid Cohen & Johnson for! Not to mention I will probably have to pay another orthodontist to fix her 2 front teeth because Dr. Johnson felt it was completely ok to deband my daughter despite her front teeth not being aligned. Apparently their office thinks that putting a strong wire on the teeth for 10-15 minutes before securing a permanent retainer is a completely acceptable alternative to an additional 1-2 months in braces. If you want an orthodontist that will cut corners, proceed with a treatment plan you didn't agree to and then fail to perform services paid for, go ahead & give Cohen & Johnson a call. Maybe you'll get more for your $5000 than I did. read more

We were with Dr. Hayes in Auburn before he retired and OMI came in. Dr. Hayes spoke with us each visit and provided updates on progress, options for moving forward etc. With OMI the doctors never talk to us. OMI staff never told us about their billing/payment plans and charged us multiple late fees as we typically paid at each visit with Dr. Hayes, not monthly as with OMI. When we asked how to avoid late fees when we don't visit monthly they said, didn't anyone tell you about setting up automatic payments? NOPE. Our experience with them has been awful and I would never recommend them. We have two more kids to get through braces and they won't be going to OMI. read more

We are very happy with Cohen. They have found things that were previously overlooked with my son. Professional and courteous staff! There were at least 2 spacers that should have been placed in my son's mouth that were not. Leaving little room for Cindy to put bands on his teeth. Michelle noticed it and put extra spacers in upon arrival, but it wasn't enough time to help much. read more

Never would I ever recommend them. They said my child's treatment plan would be 18 to 24 months not at all There going on their 5th year and still they aren't off. I've been lied to about dates several times. They are not considerate of your schedule at all, they don't understand you have a job too and can't take off to cater to their needs. They get upset when you have a bracket off when they put it on wrong. Their retainer program is not recommendable the price goes up another 100 dollars a year here's a tip your dentist will make you a retainer for 100 dollars or less. There retainer program went from 680 to 780 and plans to be up to 880. I feel they don't really care about you as a person they just care about your money when looking for an orthodontist you want someone who will take the time out of their day to ask how you are ask your interests instead I can take your payment right now. It's like the desk ladies with there braced smiles say Hi welcome, now I need your 7,000 dollar payment. I would also say they are never on time you show up for your apt early and say your apt is a 3 your not getting worked on until 3:25 or 3:20. We have been very, very impressed with Dr. Johnson. The staff is so kind and talk to my son (who is ten) about things kindly, honestly, and with a wonderful gentleness. Very thankful to have stumbled into this practice. read more

I went to Dr. Cohen as a kid for braces, I'm talking like 14 years ago. My parents paid good money for my braces only for me to never receive a permanent retainer or any additional support which caused my teeth to shift again. Fast forward to being 23 and I go back to him for the clear aligners since I am familiar with him only to be COMPLETELY disappointed in the service I receive. Where to start?? Well first I was told my braces would be removed on the 1st of August, appointment comes and goes and they are unprepared (no aligned ordered) so they push it out until the 30th! Then 30th comes and I begrudgingly go to my appointment to have my braces removed and the tech didn't even remember to removed all my fixtures! She forgot one and I had to call back and tell them! (How do you forget something like that? It should be noted in my chart!) But wait, they sure wouldn't forget a payment! Oh no, instead when I made my monthly payment 2 weeks ago in cash when my debit card for stolen, they turned around and also charged my credit card I had made a previous payment on! I will never recommend anyone to this orthodontist. Bad service and terrible treatment, I am HIGHLY disappointed! read more
