Afdent (Fort Wayne) was absolutely amazing from the moment I walked through the door. I came in around 10:30 a.m. the day after Christmas with serious tooth issues, and the front office staff immediately made me feel cared for--offering ice packs and oral numbing gel while they helped me get settled. Despite having a completely full schedule, they went above and beyond to make room for me and complete extensive work, including a tooth extraction, bone graft, and creating a replacement flipper so I didn't have to leave without a tooth. The lab team even stayed late to finish my flipper. I truly can't express how thankful and grateful I am for the time, effort, and genuine compassion the entire team showed me. Dr. Hubbard and Dr. Hester were fast, efficient, and did an excellent job. However, the person who truly made the biggest impact on my experience was the dental assistant, Cindy. She was phenomenal--handling X-rays, multiple impressions, and thoroughly explaining everything along the way. Her passion for her job truly showed, and she made me feel completely at ease throughout the process. The fact that the entire office stayed until 6 p.m. the day after Christmas just to make sure I was taken care of speaks volumes about their dedication. Unbelievable! I went for a cleaning and they told me over the phone it was all free then proceeded to charge my insurance. First strike. The lady that cleaned my teeth was amazing that's why it gets a 2 star. They found some cavities and scheduled my the next day at 1 or so I thought. I have 2 different texts saying 1pm so I not only left work but missed a college class for this apt. Just for them to tell me it was at 12. Well why didn't my text say that? It could of been the new girl that did my appointment but in my head I showed up over half an hour early but she told me I was late then the came up with the amazing idea of hey maybe a 1pm will cancel and you can wait here to see if we can maybe see you. Psst already wasted an hour of my life. They asked me to reschedule but that's how you lose business by doing unprofessional work. If you are considering AFdent: 1. Record everything they say. They will not be able to cheat you so easily. They waited until I had all my teeth removed and a year into the denture process to add new fees. I explicitly asked to pay EVERY fee including the final one SEVERAL times during our consultation, to which they consented. 2. Expect to pay far more than the competition. I'm almost $10k into simple dentures. 3 . Expect a different nurse or other NON-DENTIST to do EVERYTHING in this office. They would not want to pay a dentist to actually touch you or anything that is going into your mouth. They might have to charge $1000 per filling instead of $500 if an actual dentist was performing the procedure. 4. They will smile and nod to everything you say, and then dismiss you because they already have your money. read more

I just had oral surgery for full mouth extractions on 1/20/24. I have extremely high anxiety and discussed sedation options with surgeon prior to procedure. I chose to have the oral sedation instead of being put under general anesthesia at a hospital. Morning of surgery I took meds as prescribed. Once at office was taken back. Numbing gel applied. Don't remember much about shots. What I do remember is feeling intense pressure and then pain...a lot of pain. I couldn't move but kept trying to say it hurt. I felt it all. Once done was still in pain so they gave me more numbing shots. My advice is if you have really high anxiety like I do...don't do the oral sedation. Not blaming anyone was my choice. On a more positive note. Staff are really professional and kind. Plus I absolutely love my new smile. Kinda like labor pains are horrific but the reward is a beautiful child. I experienced deplorable customer service at Afdent in Fort Wayne. I had an appointment for a crown at noon. I was instructed to check in and of course they were glad to immediately take my payment (prior to doing the work). I sat down and waited. And I continued waiting. The next thing I know it is 45 minutes later. I went to the front desk and inquired about the status of my appointment, and I then had to wait another 10 minutes until someone finally came out. This person told me that they were "running a little behind." I guess nearly an hour constitutes "a little behind" these days. Which is to say, it is obvious that Afdent does not value their customers dental health or their time. On the other hand, my time is extremely valuable to me and I had budgeted 90 minutes - as I was told - for this procedure. As I explained when I booked my appointment, this was my lunch hour so I did not have extra time. I find it unprofessional and frankly offensive that Afdent would make a customer wait for 45 minutes, shrug their shoulders, and not provide an adequate reason for such a long delay, and then expect the customer to go forward anyway. I immediately requested my money back. And I am now done with Afdent as no one genuinely seemed to care. I will be requesting to obtain my X-rays and I will take my business to a dentist who actually does care and strives to provide adequate customer service. read more

Caroline was very professional. She was good at her job. She knew the exact amount of numbing agent to use so that when my appointment was over, my mouth is beginning to not be numb. My teeth are clean they are white. Caroline explained everything she was doing. And she even taught me the proper technique for flossing under the gum line. She was very thorough. She set up future appointments and emphasized the importance of keeping them. We shared relatable stories. It made me feel very comfortable. Along with being treated like just a mouth with teeth, I had the assistant leaving on my glasses, smashing the left lens into my cheek. Both, the doctor and assistant talked about what they were doing behind me, like I was not inteligent enough to understand. I don't care for the way I was treated. I just scheduled shoulder surgery for next month and all dental work MUST be complete a month before. I had a partial filling that needed replaced and only two days to work with. I was able to "walk-in" at Afdent in the time allowed. There was a lot of paperwork (which is reassuring) and I was treated like an established, respected patient. I have been an "anti-dentite" for many, many years until I started experiencing excruciating pain in my mouth. I was recommended to Afdent Dental by a friend at work. The day I arrived I was greeted at the front desk with a friendly smile and quickly taken for my consultation. The consultation was thoroughly explained and my treatment options were given to me. I decided to move forward with treatment which started the same day. I have been very pleased with the treatment and the different payment options available after my insurance coverage. staff was amazing and they were able to pull a tooth the same day even though it was a new patient visit but they charged me for the entire visit and procedure. They said they couldn't find me on my Husband's insurance because my last name was different then they said it was because they couldn't get ahold of the insurance to verify I was on it. I told them his name and he's a patient there and it's the same insurance and they still said they couldn't find me to verify! I ended up paying over 500.$ I never had that problem at Aspen Dental or anywhere else Dental or Medical. I've interacted with some very good people there but when they're called out for their incompetence they bring in the boss to cover his ass. I was lied to several times and after two years and several thousand dollars I left with three less teeth than I started with and a huge bullshit story from the top dog. And if you owe them anything you'll know it immediately, however if you have a credit, you'll never know it unless you ask SPECIFICALLY! I just had my teeth cleaned. The technician was friendly and did a nice job however, the right lower side of my mouth was extremely sore for several days. I think Dr Allen is very rude. He came in checked my teeth and left. He didn't introduce himself to me, didn't speak to me ,never said hello, then just left the room. However after the experience at Afdent Fort Wayne today I feel as though I have to share so that others who may be considering taking their children here might think twice. My 15 year old daughter was in today for a routine 6 month eval and cleaning. She came out to the waiting room after appointment in tears. Extremely upset. Apparently the dentist repeatedly scolded her harshly about her brushing and flossing habits. We recently moved away from our long time family dentist for insurance reasons. But none of my 4 kids will be returning to Afdent after today. We will figure out a way to pay full price to a dentist who would never dream of berating a young patient to the point of tears. Good service...signed financial contract for all work to be performed...made all payments before all work was performed and they wanted me to pay again for work already financed and paid for. When trying to correct mistake they not only admitted they couldn't find all the financial records but that my insurance paid more than they billed...no refund or notification. Some days, I wish that they had never pulled all my teeth out. It never used to hurt to eat. Not only does it hurt to chew, but it hurts to swallow too. This is now 2 months after getting them pulled, I'm in more pain now than I ever was before with my "bad" teeth, and what's worse is, I can't eat!! Just wish they told you all this stuff and all the possible complications before you go though with the procedure. Sometimes I won't have any pain though, but mostly because I've stayed away from food and drink for a little while. The last few times I've been in there to get adjustments, I feel like they treat me like garbage. I'm not sure if every time I go in, everyone is having a stressful day, or if they are just wicked busy, still it's no excuse to treat some one so badly, especially after paying them thousands. I've had to deal with a different dentist EVERY TIME! And only 1 out of 7 of them was a genuinely nice guy. My smile looks nice though, no denying that. We were a little put off at first, because it seemed like a factory approach to dental care. But what it really turned out to be was organized, and efficient, not to mention friendly and professional. Waited til after a second cleaning to leave a review, and both hygienists were outstanding. Nice people, gentle, etc. I honestly couldn't find anything to complain about with Affdent. We had one minor billing snafu which they handled quickly, and I think my wife had to wait about 40 minutes on her first visit (but on the second she in in five). So all in all, five stars it is. I just left the Afdent Fort Wayne office where I had to pay to have a crown re-cemented after it just popped off for no reason. It is 1 year 10 months since I had it installed. I did not think I should have been charged anything to put it back in place. I was supposed to be called 2 days ago about disputing the charge and no call. I called yesterday and asked why they never called me like they said they would and asked them to call me back at 3:30pm. Noone called back. I went in, waited 45 minutes and I was sitting in the chair, 30 minutes of prep work to re-cent the crown back in and the Dr. was ready to put the crown in and was told there was a charge. I disputed it believing a crown should not fall out in such a short time period and it should be re-cemented at no charge. The guy came in who was supposed to call me 2 days ago and yesterday and says he planned on calling me today. It is 2:30pm, personally, I do not believe he was going to call. We argued and he said that if I didn't have outstanding charges "we would be having a completely different conversation." I infer that to mean if I had a zero balance with Afdent, I would not be getting charged. We argue and he sends someone else in and she tells me point blank, my choice is to pay to reinstall the crown or leave. That leaves me no choice, they wait until I am in the chair, crown sitting on the counter, where they have me over a barrel. Either I pay up or leave with the crown in my pocket. Leave..., so I can have a chance of my gums getting infected, the stub rotting away or again getting an infection and possibly even put my life at risk. What happened to do no harm? I was made to feel that I had no choice, I was demeaned because I hadn't had regular cleanings, where she was saying that also could have caused it. But what about the other crowns that are 5 times as old and more? She isn't even a doctor and she is blaming the cleanings for the crown's cement failing in 1 year 10 months? It isn't the charge, it is the fact that I should have been told just come in, that they would re-cement it at no charge because crowns should last longer than 1 year 10 months. Instead, because I do have oustanding bills, I will be charged for it and they waited until I was in the chair ready to go. Didn't speak to me about it before my appointment because I had explained 2 days ago that I believe I should not have to pay for it to be re-cemented because it was not even 2 years old!! We all better hope that other doctors don't start waiting until you're on the operating table, waiting for a life saving procedure, a surgery perhaps, and then they ask for our visa card. Literally, I had to give her my card to pay for it as I sat in the chair before they would re-cement it. As if I was going to dine and dash. She couldn't even wait until after the crown was back in. Horrible service! Horrible person! I will not even say it was a huge charge, it was only 95.00. But I would have refused a 5.00 charge because it shouldn't have fallen out in 1 year 10 months, period. I am going to file a complaint with BBB and with whoever else I can.
