We stopped at Oma's Restaurant, located inside the Bavarian Inn Lodge. Overall, it was an alright experience. The house root beer was surprisingly tasty with a caramel-like flavour. I ordered the Steak and Eggs; decent overall, but the steak was really fatty. The standout for me was definitely the Potato Cheese Dumplings... absolutely incredible. My vegetarian wife ordered the Farmer's Breakfast and asked for the meat to be placed on a separate plate. Unfortunately, that wasn't accommodated, so she ended up with bacon and sausage grease all over her eggs, which really put a damper on her meal. Service was just okay. Our server was friendly, but my water sat empty for way too long, which shouldn't happen at a restaurant of this size. Overall, not a bad meal, but there are definitely better spots in the area. Manager went back to kitchen and there was no ticket said someone was delivering order at the time. Went back to room waited 15 minutes still no food. Went back to restaurant said the ticket was found and they were plating our meals and would be delivered shortly, waited 30 minutes still no food. Went back down to the restaurant to wait. Food was delivered while I was waiting at the restaurant. The meal was comped for the inconvenience. Restaurant was not busy during this time either. The servers were dressed in old Bavarian clothing. The restaurant is still decorated in old Bavarian style with wood furniture. The service was a bit slow. We had to wait quite a bit for our food. But our food came out hot. The popular Frankenmuth fried chicken was crispy, moist, and flavorful. The mash potatoes were good. But the vegetables were a bit too overcooked and bland. The bratwurst was good and the fries were decent. It would nice to have a few more fries on the plate. The chicken salad was good. The best part is their homemade dressing. Very good meal!! I had the NY strip with sautéed veggies. It was great!!! We also got the sampler platter for our appetizer. The food was fantastic!! There wasn't enough on the platter to justify the cost. That was the only negative I had this visit. The bread sticks are great! The entrees were great! Definitely had the feel of Grandma's Kitchen. I've been to Oma's twice in the last few years once because our preferred place wasn't seating and another because our preferred place closed and I'm sorry to say I've got so very little positive to say about this place. The food itself isn't anything I'd return for but the real killer is how long it actually takes to get it. When we originally put our name down we were told 30 mins and after 45 we checked in on the wait and they were supposedly getting a table around. We proceeded to wait another 15 mins after that. Once we finally got to the table it took another hour for our food to come out. Not great. On the positive side it is in a hotel so there's plenty of nice seats to sit in at the lobby while you wait and I would say our waiter was nice and did the best he could with everything. Ultimately I never expect much from a touristy restaurant in a hotel - but - yeesh, this was just extra bad both times. There's not a lot of breakfast options in Frankenmuth but do your self a favor and venture out a bit. read more

If you walk around the other side of Oma's Restaurant, you'll see another entrance for the Lorelei Lounge. This is where the bar and live music is. Kids are allowed in until 10 p.m., and there are tables where you can order food from the menu, or you can walk up to the bar and get something to drink. I was just there to enjoy some time alone while my family played at the pool in the hotel. The wine list isn't huge, but the price for a glass of wine is decent: around $6. I got two glasses of Malbec and sat and watched people come in and out. Popcorn is complimentary, but you have to ask the bartender for it. (I didn't want any popcorn.) read more

There wasn't enough of the house tomato herb relish, the crust was hard, and some of the slices were loaded with mozzarella cheese. For drinks, the coffee was good, but the Cosmo tasted like pure alcohol and the Blueberry Mocktail tasted just like Cherry Coca-Cola. Although the food and beverages were mediocre, service was great! The food was bad. My husband had the buffet, which was just your standard basic hotel type of self serve breakfast, very small, basic eggs, bacon, tater tots, sausage, pancake, cereal and fruit. The buffet was typically stuff a hotel would serve for free with your nightly stay. I had the eggs Benedict and it was bad. The ham was good, but the rest of it tasted pretty awful. Supposed to come with a German hunters sauce- gravy with mushrooms- It was a flavorless liquid with cherry tomatos in it. That was the best part. I didn't look this place up until after we are here and I'm shocked they don't have great reviews! My husband and I both had the fried chicken, it was great and pretty cheap compared to what eating out costs these days. My daughter ate free at the buffet. Our server was incredibly warm and friendly and was super nice to my daughter. The restaurant itself is so cute and has that indoor exterior facade, just really cute (as is the entire hotel). Food was fine, nothing out of this world.. the prices are a tad high for the quality... my baked and Mac and cheese was ok, a little skimpy in terms of portion size considering the price.. it was fine, but I've definitely had better max and cheese dishes.. they won't be putting Zingerman's to shame, let's say it that way.. my husband's sandwich and fries were fine, nothing amazing, but fine.. Service was mixed.. despite being quite slow when we sat down, the servers didn't come to check on the table much and it took quite awhile to get a drink refill.. our sever was pleasant but kinda absent.. So incredibly boring and bland food. Even the decor and ambiance is bland and boring. My partner and I had lunch here today and I can see why every other restaurant in town had 2-4 hour wait times while we walked right in here. We were hopeful despite sub par reviews and were open minded. There were a couple positives. The pretzel bites with beer cheese and mustard were pretty good and the bartender/servers were great. That's kind of where it ends. I ordered the combo plate as I really wanted to try out the "World Famous" Frankenmuth chicken and jaeger schnitzel with "house made" sauerkraut. First off, there's no way I could be convinced that the sauerkraut didn't come out of a generic jar. That is not authentic German sauerkraut. This was what you get at a gas station to put on your hot dog. The chicken was boring and dry. There was almost zero spices or flavoring at all. I actually added salt from a shaker which I usually never do. The Schnitzel is served with a tiny little cup of sauce and also is flavorless. I'm sorry but we really didn't enjoy our lunch and it was incredibly expensive for what it was. I would not recommend Oma's. read more

This is my least favorite style of food. It was not appetizing and was mouth puckeringly salty. My tongue felt like a prune by the time I was done eating. Surprisingly the liver and onions tasted better than it looked, but the salads were a disappointment (even a bagged salad prepared by my 6 year old looked more appetizing). The matzah wrap was not filling, the adult portion of Mac and cheese was kid sized, and the kids hamburgers do not come with lettuce tomatoes or onions (the cheese is extra) ‍. It was all so disappointing and we were so hungry. Plan to bring a crockpot for the room or go to Wang's Bistro. We chose to have the Buffet on Saturday morning. It was really nice to arrive at 10 AM and be able to still partake in the breakfast buffet. For $16.99, it was all you can eat and they had monkey bread and coffee cake as well as a variety of fruit, Biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, two different types of eggs, blueberry and plain pancakes, as well as oatmeal. I think for the value it was well worth it! My cousin had a potato pancake breakfast and although she said it was really good, it was maybe only three dollars less than the buffet so I opted for the Buffet myself. Worth it! read more

I had ordered the broiled chicken and my boyfriend had ordered the 12 oz sirloin steak. we ordered the snow crab legs also. the snow crab was very fishy and they have us nothing to try and crack it with. the chicken was dry and unseasoned and so tiny. the baked potato was extremely over cooked and dry. and the steak was so raw that we could pull our single fibers of meat from the cut of steak. when we complained they had a huge attitude like we were the ones who made the food. we also didn't get some of the add ons to our food that we were supposed to get. We really enjoyed Oma's restaurant while staying at the Bavarian Inn. My 2 yr old toddler calls her Dutch grandma "Oma" and INSISTED we dine here haha We received a coupon for cheesy potato dumplings with our room package and these were very good, not heavy or greasy, but crispy and yummy. Food came in ample portions, I had the stuffed bell pepper, a great vegetarian option, and my hubs had the 2 piece fried chicken. Apparently, fried chicken is a must-do thing in Frankenmuth? The entrees come with two sides and a small garlic bread, so I felt as stuffed as my pepper by the end of my meal! They have a full bar and good drinks menu, my hubs tried a $5 draft beer flight, I had a sip of each since I'm preggers .. and my toddler tried to follow suit because she has noticed daddy seems to like this drink called beer lol Our server Chandler was great, attentive, prompt and very accommodating (and yes, he confirmed his mum named him after the popular "Friends" character). We dined on a Sunday before 5 PM so it wasn't busy and a good time to eat with little ones. The restaurant is small so I can see how that could pose a challenge during busy/peak times.
