Some of the worst customer service I have experienced and it was just over the phone. I couldn't imagine what it would be like in person. I would not go here.

Took it back promptly and they claimed it was a "faulty crush washer on the drain plug". If I had to guess, it was just installed improperly and they blamed it on a defective washer... Fast forward a to today where I am driving a couple hundred miles later and the skid plate under the engine is scraping on the ground and is barely hanging on by a single bolt. I am guessing they improperly installed the skid plate after the oil change as well. They were nice enough to send some kids over to clean up the oil spill in my driveway, but overall I would strongly recommend taking your car anywhere else but here.

Brought in my car for what I suspected was a faulty alternator, but asked them to call me once they verified that was the issue and before they replaced anything (I have an old Toyota with 350k miles on it so it is always a question of how much money is worth putting into any repairs on it). I got a call later that day saying my car was done (no call prior to this with a cost, asking for go-ahead, etc) and to stop by to pick it up. I get to the shop to find out they have replaced my battery and not the alternator. I question them in it and they go run another test, and determine it did not need a battery but does still need the alternator replaced. They were nice enough to order an alternator and still get the car fixed by the end of the day, but when I went to pick it up, I look at the receipt to find they had charged me labor and parts for a battery and TWO alternators. I'm currently in the process of trying to get a refund for the erroneous second alternator charge. Hoping they are back to the better service I have received from them in the past next time I need to bring my car in and that this is only a one-off.

I wasn't sure if we should tow the car or risk driving it with absolutely DEAFENING exhaust noise. At about 12:30 PM I took a chance - drove the car. As I approached Lyndale Avenue, the owner waved me in. I couldn't believe he was waving at ME since I'd never been to the shop before. I stopped, turned off the engine and yelled out the window...they smiled and, again, motioned for me to drive straight into the garage. Within minutes they'd discovered the missing catalytic converter. 20 minutes later they'd assessed the condition of the rest of the car. We gave the go-ahead for repair at about 1:30 PM. Within about 10 minutes I got a call from Joe at Tires Plus to talk to me about what tires I was looking at, he told me they didnt have those specific tires in the store and the only 4 in the Midwest were in North Dakota...I was crushed, they were on a promo and I was looking for the most budget friendly option. Joe, without hesitation, said he would have them overnight shipped without cost so I could have them for my appointment - now THAT is customer service! I showed up about 15 minutes early and Joe was at the desk and he went over the cost, what all they would be checking and gave me a time estimate. Less than 2 hours later I was called back to the store to pick up my car and it turns out I didnt even need an alignment which was a huge bonus! Never once was I pressured into purchasing extra services or told something was wrong with my car. I felt the prices were beyond fair and the quality of service was really just exceptional. I never feel as though I am being taken for granted and they are extremely honest on what needs to to be done ASAP and what I can wait a bit longer to budget for. They do have loaner cars, I haven't needed it as Caribou is within walking distance and I usually just hang there until the work is done.

Having a mechanic who you know is not trying to rip you off or just straight up lie to you is worth paying for. It's not over charging, it's called small business making ends meet. They are local people and have been around for a very long time. They care about the community. I love going somewhere where they will tell you what is wrong and what is coming up in the future. "This is what you need now and this is what you need later, which we could do now if you want, but you don't need to." You will not hear that from a national brand. I love Hawkins and have been going there since I have had a car. Before that I went there when my dad brought his cars there.
