Omañas, you were, and still are, my original love in the realm of Mexican food. The food is done the old fashioned way here. It's down and dirty, and who cares about the health risks you suffer from continuous visits to this place. I don't know what the name means, but I would imagine to the ladies who have eaten here a few times, it means, "Oh man...ass" as they look back and see what has become of their figure. My order of choice here is the chicharron burrito. It's sloppy, nasty, and delicious. From repeated orders of this choice burrito I've begun saying, "Oh man...belly". Not gonna lie Im hard on stars hard on cars and hard on tacos! Stopped by new years eve and knocked six back, they definitely have a unique shell and flavor here and all of the tacos are really great but the pollo and pesacado are my favorite. i mean i had a chicken taco that was as juicy as a Pork taco plus im part of the baller budget brigade and for $1.25-2.00 u cant beat their price. The food here is great, especially in relationship to the price. As a result, I'm giving this five starts. However, the area around this place can be a little rough. I usually go there late afternoons on a weekdays, and I've gotten panhandled a few times. Plus, the last time I was there someone had a needle in his arm in the parking lot. (Diabetic, maybe?) I was really on the fence on writing about the environment around this place. But I figured it was important to share. I'll probably keep coming back during daytime hours. But I'll probably never bring my wife there. (I will take the food to go for her.) Bottom line, the food is great. But my experience with the people around the place, maybe not so great. If they had a drive through option so I never had to get out of my car, I'd feel a lot better. read more

A buddy of mine who is a Yelp elite brought me some tacos, tacos perones and a chile verde plate from Omanas. Talked on and on about how he had it when he was little and such.... didnt catch the rest of the story cause I was trying to eat But I was pleasantly surprised with both the quality and quantity of the food. The asada was tasty and I believe it was the skirt steak that I love so much. Many places use the crappier steaks so I am a happy camper. OMG - This food is sooo good. It's my first time here but I am telling you, this is hands down the best Chili Verde burrito around (anywhere) . I ordered a side of sour cream and did not even use it because I didn't want it to interfere with the taste of the fine burrito. Nice thin flour tortilla stuffed with delicious Chili Verde and a small smathering of beans. I will admit I had to risk my life to get it, the surroundings are pretty 'hood - and the people standing around are pretty scary but the guy that took my order was very nice and I would do it again. Such an awesome little spot. Placed in the ghetto but it's worth taking the risk out there for a reasonably priced burrito or some tacos. I actually like it more than Tiajuanas Tacos and the line is nowhere near as long. I've seen them give free food to the crack heads that hand around in front which is always nice, I'm assuming so they both bother the patrons. My go to here is the carnitas all meat burrito with no beans and add rice and cheese. I say all meat burrito because they make it bigger than the regular burrito, and I say no beans because they usually put way too much on. Get a red and green sauce on the side and don't forget a Serrano pepper that they have in a container in the front. They used to be $6 but they recently raised it to $7 which I'll gladly pay since inflation has finally hit them. Great people and great food. read more

Pregnant friend was craving tacos so we took a drive to the closest taco stand near her place. We had stop by Carnitas Don Juan at first because of the yelp reviews. Friends got the asada and carnitas tacos and quesadilla. I didn't get anything there. They didn't have horchata or fish taco for me. Omanas - Yelp recommended shrimp and fish taco, which was what I got. Shrimp was delicious. Fish was okay. I think I will be back for more shrimp tacos. They had orange water (orange bang minus the creamy goodness), not bad. Service - nice and friendly, they provided a ton of sauce, plates, and napkins, a plus considering the first place was very stingy. Price were really good, really worth it. read more

Man o man 2 Omanas (Original one in El Monte) but the Pomona branch gets the nod because they are .50 cents cheaper and the burros were made bigger. The El Monte branch is always a hit but the size fluctuates depending on the roller, for 3.50 I want em big and fat. I know I know I'm kinda nit picky. I lovvvvvve their Chile Verde burrito. Possibly the best Mexican food experience I've had in my entire life. While the location is not preferred (Downtown Pomona), the area isn't bad enough to warrant avoiding a meal here. At Omañas you won't find indoor seating, decorative plates, or polished dishes. But you will find the absolute best Mexican food. The authenticity of each dish is bridled by enormous flavor, rich spices, and a perfect combination of spicy chile. Usually get the Chile Verde plate with a Chile Colorado taco on the side. The chili Verde is amazing, cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and spicy. Yum. Chile Colorado is just a notch down on the spice meter, definitely not lacking on the taste. Second time trying this place and I'm in love! The first time I tried the chile verde burrito, that was actually my first time eating one of those burritos, it was really good. This time I got the carne asada burrito and 2 carnitas tacos, oh my god... I swallowed all of it before I actually got to taste it lol. I give this place a 4/5 stars because the original omanas in el monte is better. Carne asada burrito and carne asada with the red sauce is all you need to order. Ive been coming here and to the one in el monte for 17 years straight and it never dissapoints. Their breakfast burritos(chile reino) are also good. Theres been several times where i had the resources and time and i compared this omanas to the one in el monte and i found el montes to be better tasting over all. Also sometimes the one here in pomona, the burritos get to wet and they break and the meal becomes messy. I give the carne asada with bean and red special sauce burrito a 10/10 here and a 11/10 at the el monte location. Also the orange drink here is pretty legendary. Wow and more wow!!!! This taco place is simple but man do they pack it with a lot of flavor. The taco is less than two dollars. There's not much in them just meat and lots of sauce. The flour taco is just so warm and soft and the meat just so tender. As for the sauce there just so much flavor that you don't need anything else to enhance the flavor. If you're super hungry, you don't have to wait long because like I said before there's only two ingredients in the taco. read more

I grew up in South El Monte where they opened the original Omana's... Great tacos and burritos. Since moving to Eastvale CA I was surprised there is an Omana's in Pomona, I checked it out and the food is exactly the same they didn't change a thing, purchased 4 tacos and a burrito... Stop by the local liquor store grabbed a bag of Barbeque Lays Chips and a Coke. Wow that was good. Unfortunately this is not a very kept up are of Pomona, the parking is almost non existent but hey if you want a taco that's unique try one you'll go back again and again and not even worry about the location and parking.
