I have been going here for about 6 months now and I love it. The studio is somewhat on the small side, which is mainly evident on Wed nights for the 7pm class. That class gets pretty packed, which if you are looking for a class to crawl out of because you've lost so much sweat, then it's for you. I've only gone here for Bikram, but I have never been disappointed. It's fantastic for a stress buster and I tend to feel drained, but at peace when I'm out of the class. read more

i just went yesterday and am hooked already - im going to go today, thursday and sunday! i have been doing yoga for a while and have tried all different kinds of yoga...and have been to 3 yoga studios in the city. this one beats them all, especially since it is the ONLY yoga studio in chicago that offers hot vinyasa flow...or the baptiste method. the studio is spacious, so you're not running into people in and out of class, the yoga room is pretty large and has wood floors (perfect for hot and sweaty yoga). you will get the most amazing workout that will feel like the best cleanse you've had in years. vinyasa is an athletic-style of yoga and usually each class is different (depending on the teacher). it gets to about 90+ and even hotter when it's humid and hot outside...but trust me, it feel so good and as long as you have some water, towels and a yogitoes towel for your mat (no-slip grip towel) you'll be all set. another plus about this place is that in addition to an instructor, they have someone come around to adjust you, which is a great added bonus. also it's easy to get there...take the brown line to addison and walk a block down ravenswood and you're there. i love Om on the Range! read more

I'm so glad that I discovered this place! I have tried a lot of yoga studios in Chicago, and none compare to Om on the Range. Why do I love my yoga practice here? 1. The workout itself is extremely challenging - my muscles feel like jello every time I leave. I also like the fact that Om offers both Bikram and Vinyasa classes, because each offers unique benefits (i.e., Vinyasa gives me a great upper body workout, Bikram builds my endurance by forcing me to hold poses longer). 2. What really keeps me coming back to Om are the instructors. They are always professional in their delivery, and give each student personal attention using adjustments and verbal prompts. Even though I have been practicing yoga for years, I have learned a lot about how poses should look and feel thanks to Beth, Terry, Jen, and others. 3. Om is a hassle-free experience. There is always parking, there are tons of evening and weekend classes, and the studio itself is always nice to come to - it feels bright, open and clean. read more

One thing I hate about doing yoga at home is that I'm never really sure if my form is correct. No worries here though. Every instructor I've had has been top notch. Yeah it's hot in that room, but it's just so much fun. I've been going here for a couple weeks and have yet to be disappointed by the workout I get. What can I say, I love this studio, the space, the airy windows and industrial looking location. I enjoy the heated (but not Bikram hot) Vinyasa Flow style. When I've been there they have had an instructor, and a (student?) walking around to make adjustments, etc. I am happily tired and feel so detoxed and clean after each class I've taken there. read more

I love this studio! Disclaimer: if you are a beginner this is not the studio for you. They don't offer a class that really breaks down the poses. If you are a moderately experienced yoga practitioner looking for a great, no "BS", hot vinyasa flow class, this is the place for you. All of the teachers are great- not too much talking, very friendly energy. Beth and Terry (owners of the studio) are very welcoming. Terry has really taken me to some amazing moments in my practice during his classes. One thing that knocks a star off for me is that the bathroom is unfortunately located outside of the studio. i tried this yoga studio for bikram... after moving to a new apt nearby, and with past experience at the bikram yoga studio in lakeview. def not as relaxing as my prior yoga studio. the instructor was kind of 'chatty' and opened the windows to a cool evening half way though the class..... i thought it was all about being miserably hot!? the studio was clean and large, but was kinda hard to find- it would be my second choice to practice bikram. read more

I'm new to Yoga, a dear friend introduced me. I took a one week @ Core Power in Lakeview for free. I ended up taking 2 classes there, one intro class and one Hot Power Fusion class. I'm not going to go into detail as I already wrote a review. Anyhow, I decided to try a one week @ Om for $20. I took 3 classes in my one week period at Om. The first class I took was Bikram. I wasn't sure what to expect as it was a 90 minute class in a 100+ degree room. Nervous. I met with the instructor Mara before class and she showed me how to breathe and told me not to worry. I was a little nervous and laid my mat in the middle in the room. I figured it would be good so I can blend in with people. Mara was great. She talks in a soothing voice and tells you to make it your own experience. She also comes around and adjusts you, doesn't call you out or anything, but helps correct your positions and asks you how you are feeling, etc. I did get a little light headed towards the last 10 or so minutes so I had to lay flat on my back to catch my breath. I was dripping buckets of sweat within the first 2 minutes. By the end of class, my tank and shorts were soaked along with my 2 towels!! Even though we were doing various poses, I was surprised how fast my heart was beating, I really wasn't expecting that at all. After class, I was so thirsty. I couldn't stop drinking water. 2nd class I took was Intro to Baptiste Vinyasa with Kelly. Whoa, intro class? Seriously? Pretty intense, BUT I also enjoyed it. Kelly is great! She also came around and adjusted you if you were in the wrong position and also brought in blocks so you can do things modified. Everything in this class flows and has a pace to it. I will be back to do another intro class. I wish they offered it more in the evenings so I can take it more often. 3rd class I took another Bikram class with Mara and it wasn't as painful as the first! I actually made it through the whole 90 minutes without having to lay down, but still sweat buckets. After the end of my 3rd class, I decided to invest in a 5 pack class for $70. I already used up one of my classes and took a candle light Bikram class. Loved the candle light! I like this place a lot, the 2 instructors I've had so far have been very nice and helpful and they talk to you before and after class. I love how they adjust your poses so you can learn without being embarrassed for doing things wrong. Place is clean and doesn't smell at all. The only thing, I wish they had a dressing room. They do have little changing rooms, but no bathrooms, you have to go upstairs. After my 5 pack is used, I think I may go for the 10 or even 25 pack. I really have come to enjoy Hot Yoga and even just purchased a mat! read more

This was my first experience with hot yoga, so I took advantage of their first timers special of $20/week. I had stayed away from hot yoga because I am incredibly flexible and was worried about over-stretching, but Om has changed my mind. I really liked the studio. I have been coming to Om for many years now and felt like it was my liitle gem hidden on a quite corner in Ravenswood. Now it seems everyone is talking about Om on the Range. I love love love this place! It is so welcoming and the instructors are all amazing teachers and people. Despite being pretty hot and sweaty they don't hesitate to show you to square off your hips or get a bit deeper in a pose. It doesn't matter if your a devote Yogi or trying something new for the first time they will welcome you and you'll leave feeling great! read more

I miss Om On the Range. When I first moved to Chicago, I looked into several yoga studios and I was thrilled to find such an amazing space, that is not pretentious. I really liked Beth classes, very calmed yet challenging. I also did one of their workshops as a great birthday gift to myself, 4 hrs of hot Baptist yoga :). Unfortunately, I moved downtown and was in the need of something closer. One thing that threw me off was that the restrooms were inconveniently located on the 2nd floor and not really part of the studio, but if you can manage to freshen up in front of fellow yogis or wait to do your business at home, you're good to go! read more

I absolutely love this place. I moved here from Florida where I had practiced vinyasa yoga for years. It took me a while to find a place I liked that taught proper alignment, was challenging, and had a knowledgable staff. It seems like a lot of places just throw yoga instructors out to teach classes that really don't know much about the poses. After trying four different places much closer to my house I decided to drive into the city and try Om on the range, it's an hour from my house in the burbs. Stacia greeted me warmly my first day and taught the initial class. From that time on I was hooked and continue to make the 26 mile drive there to attend classes. Om is more than just a yoga studio. It is a community. When I go there I not only reap physical and mental benefits, I also feel at home and welcomed there. I have been practicing hot Vinyasa at Om for about 5 years and in every class I take I learn more about the poses and the practice. Each teacher is terrific and each has a different style-some are more technical regarding the poses than others, and some play music and some are philosophical. The teachers do not work from a script, like I have experienced at chain yoga places. Each brings his/her expertise and personality to the class. If you are new to hot yoga I suggest you take a basics class. This is a great way to learn more about the poses --sometimes I take a basics class just to to tune up my poses or if I haven't been able to get to a class in a while and am feeling rusty. And they also have different workshops that focus on deepening your yoga practice in specific ways. Recently they offered and Inversion workshop that focused more detailed work with poses that are done in inversion. It's hot and you will sweat a great deal. That is all part of the experience. I always feel so terrific after wards! And that is the reason I keep going. That and it feels great to be be in such a welcoming atmosphere. read more

I tried this studio back in February because I was excited to find a hot yoga alternative to Bikram. I had taken Vinyasa classes before, but felt that the practice here was truly unique and loved the change of pace from the same 26 asanas that Bikram adheres to. The studio was very clean - the incense burning in the lobby was a great touch. Cost sadly is the only thing keeping me from being a regular. read more

I've only taken five classes here so far. The studio is clean, the staff is courteous, the prices are comparable to other yoga studios, and most of the instructors are exceptionally good teachers. A note to the novice (I count myself a novice): These classes are not what I'd consider beginner-friendly, so consider taking their 60-minute "vinyasa basics" class before diving into a 90-minute power yoga session. The "vinyasa basics" class definitely helped me understand the poses better and the "flow" of the vinyasa class, plus the instructor offered personal critiques about technique and demonstrated many of the poses herself with step-by-step breakdown of the movements involved. It was truly a growing experience for me, and I think it would be helpful to anyone at any stage in their practice. Also, as other reviewers have noted, the Saturday morning class really packs 'em in. If you are the type who feeds off the energy of a crowded room, then Saturday morning is the time for you. read more

I love Om. I take both Bikram and Baptiste classes, 1-2 times a week. I am relatively new to the studio, started coming on a friend's recommendation last November. Since I generally just enjoy trying new activities, I imagined I'd just do one week, get the experience and move on. Six months later, I am still sweating it out on a regular basis. I even took a Bikram poses clinic a few weeks ago from Terry and Beth- in an attempt to figure out how to get somewhere with Locust pose. Still working on it BTW but I enjoyed spending an afternoon breaking the poses down and their detailed explanation. I have had most of the teachers at least once and all have been terrific...I really loved Mara's Sunday evening Bikram class - but always look forward to any class! Just like some of the other reviewers mentioned my favorite thing about Om is the welcoming, inviting, non-judgmental environment they have created. Every single class I have been in has included all ages, shapes, yoga skill levels and yet the teachers have been able to lead a class that challenges all of us by offering alternatives/progressions/modifications. They find the rare balance between pushing yourself to the edge and not taking yourself or your yoga too seriously. I agree that the room is a bit hotter than most but I like that about Om. I would recommend anyone planning to take classes their with any regularity, buy one of the sticky towels to put over your mat...a but pricey but worth the $$. read more

I love this yoga studio! I went for years avoiding yoga, despite that it was recommended to me by multiple fitness specialists, because I never could seem to find a studio that fit my personality. And then I randomly tried out Om on the Range because it happens to be very close to my home. I love the environment and all the instructors. It is such a personable place, and within a few weeks instructors were calling me by my first name and making me feel so welcome. I never feel ridiculous or "less than" despite practicing with a diverse group of individuals- some new like me- and others who have obviously been practicing far longer than me. I am so glad I found this studio. My confidence and flexibility have improved and I am so glad I can do yoga to improve my core strength and help ease an old back injury. And the prices are very reasonable. Give this place a try, and don't be overwhelmed at first. You'll be addicted before long. read more

After attending a few yoga classes at a different studio in the burbs, I thought I was ready to try hot yoga. I was wrong. The teacher was great and I could follow along, but yoga is hard to begin with. When it's a 100 degrees, it's even harder. But I did feel great after class, so that helped. Nice and open facilities, good instruction, classes and sequences are challenging and depending on the instructor, advanced poses are offered (inversions, arm balancing, etc.). Perfect for the intermediate - advanced yogi. I was confused on how to get into the actual studio but once I figured it out it was fine. I moved from Chicago shortly after and have not found a similar quality vinyasa yoga studio yet :( read more

Om on the Range is AWESOME! I am very new to yoga and the staff at Om on the Range made me feel very welcome. Particularly Mara and Liz. I was nervous having never taken yoga classes like those offered at Om on the Range before. Mara and Liz both, were attentive and welcoming. Having been to a couple of other studios in the city I was fairly turned off by the lack of attention and consideration for new learners. From the moment I walked in to Om the Range I was treated with respect and without any judgment. I look forward to taking more classes in the near future. read more

For the past two years I've been trucking it to either Lincoln or Wicker Park when I have a craving for Bikram. What a shame! Honestly, I have lived around the corner from the best Bikram studio and never knew it. I finally decided to give it a whirl since I have been practicing regularly and I'm so glad I did. Mara was a great teacher but sadly she's moving next week. If she is any indication of the caliber of teachers this studio employs than I'm confident that the other teachers will be great. The studio is open, clean, & smells wonderfully! A pleasant surprise for a class of sweat balls. I hope to make this my home studio while I'm in Chicago. This studio has been my first experience with hot yoga, and I am loving it! The large space is beautiful, clean, and inviting. (The exposed brick is lovely.) All of the instructors are fantastic, and I really enjoy their creative, longer sequences. Also, I travel a lot and really like that the class packages never expire. I cannot say enough nice things about Om on the Range. As a yoga newbie (and especially as a hot yoga newbie) this studio was welcoming and wonderful. I did the new student $20 for 1 week package and did 4 classes. I tried both Bikram and Vinyasa and enjoyed both, though as a beginner, bikram was slightly easier to pick up on. The teachers are calm and friendly. They are helpful and welcoming. They acknowledge that you are new and keep an eye on you, but do not make you stand out in any way. It was a wonderful experience, and I love love loved it. I just need a little more dough so I can afford a multi-class card. if you have never tried Bikram, I highly recommend it!
