Om On the Range offers some wonderful classes in studio in the winter months. In the summer Beth + Terry offer up their side yard for some outdoor yoga. I have really enjoyed all my classes with them. Easy enough for a beginners and you can always add on if you have more experience. I cannot say enough good things about Om on the Range! I found this studio 7 years ago when I moved to the neighborhood and cannot imagine my life without it! Beth, Terry, and Annie, and their whole team of teachers, are so welcoming and have truly created a family feeling at this studio. They know their yogis by name, and are intentionally about creating a sense of community in their practice. I was new to yoga when I started and appreciate so much that the classes are open to all levels and I never felt out of place, no matter what! All the teachers are helpful and personalize instruction as needed - I have *never* had a teacher whose class I didn't enjoy. It's HOT. Not warm, HOT. You will drip sweat before you even begin yoga. It's a workout! Be prepared. This is not gentle stretching and relaxation. This is intense! However, they are very accomodating for newer yoga people (myself), and also very experiend yoga masters (several in my class). So, it's appropriate for any level. I found it to be very instructional, and consistent, my teacher (annie) was lovely and supportive...and I left absolutely soaked and refreshed. The studio is clean, comfy and bright. Nice wood floors. Very welcoming, staff is very friendly. A few tips if going for the first time: 1. Bring a large towel. 2. Bring an extra shirt to wear home (they have changing rooms). 3. Bring a huge bottle of water (they have a fountain to refill). 4. Do not compare yourself to others, yoga is a personal quest. There are many very experienced people in the class, who are great to learn from... 5. Parking is fairly easy. 6. $20 unlimited for one week for new students. Great deal! Namaste ;) read more

3.5 stars I love this studio. I love the both the Bikram classes taught here and the Baptiste classes. I actually favor Baptiste slightly more after experiencing them bother for the first time at Om on the Range. But I had to knock down a couple of stars because of the schedule. There is only one room where the classes are held and thus fewer classes are offered. I work downtown and it is often difficult to get to the studio in time for some Baptiste during the week, thus only leaving me with the weekends to visit Om. It's a shame though because I really do like the classes taught by the instructors here. The studio is nice and clean though. They also must have really great deodorizers because I've been in a room about 10 mins. after a a Bikram class let out to set up my mat for the following class and it didn't smell like a ton of sweat or feel really musty. Word of caution (as this advice was passed on to me): Get there early for your class. If you arrive too late, you can't even get into the studio as the front door is locked closed. read more

Attended a Tuesday evening class (8pm) with my sister who frequents this studio regularly. We got their early so I could register and sign the appropriate waivers and also met Annie, who was super friendly and helped us get set up. I have done some hot yoga in Charlotte so I had a yogitoes (yoga towel) that I had brought and just borrowed a mat from the studio so that I didn't have to lug my mat on the airplane. The room was not heated, but it was definitely a humid day/evening so there was plenty of sweat to go around, especially with the vinyasas and poses. I am more used to a modified bikram practice and the class moving together, but this class was dictated by your own breath so it seemed like I was falling behind during some phases. Never-the-less, Annie was super patient with everyone... it was a full house and she came around and corrected people's positions as she saw necessary. The studio itself is a nice space. Great reception area where there are cubbies to keep your personal belongings. The teacher locks the doors to the studio so all of your stuff is safe. There are changing stalls, benches, and water in the reception area as well. The space has hardwood floors throughout and it looks like you are encouraged to take your shoes off at the door and walk barefoot in the space. The odd thing I noticed in the reception area was a huge shelf full of colorful rolled up yoga mats... they were arranged in rainbow order so it was more of an art piece than a functional piece in the studio since the mats they lend out are black with little white "OM" initials in the corner. Overall it was a good yoga experience. I liked seeing the differences in studio practices. After thanking Annie for the class, she wished me luck. We had talked about me possibly moving to Chicago in the future so I would definitely come back to this studio if I did that. :) read more

I love Om On the Range so much! I practiced with them for YEARS pre-Covid. Then I moved to a neighborhood further north and it got tough to visit as often. Now I have reconnected with this wonderful community via all of the virtual online offerings. I like that there's a mix of outdoor in-person classes, zoom classes, and recorded audio classes. Right now the audio classes are an especially great fit for my crazy schedule, because I can start one whenever I want! When the pandemic first started I tried doing some yoga on my own and it is just not the same ... I always feel so much better in body, mind and spirit after a session with the Om team. read more

First things first... I. DO. NOT. EXERCISE...... until now, I guess. I went to Om on the Range after researching and hunting for the most normal, unpretentious yoga studio in the city. After one of my clients at work talked up Bikram yoga, I knew that I had to try it, but was severely intimidated by it. Om on the Range has a super professional, yet relaxed atmosphere. The judgement I feared was nowhere to be found. As someone who is afraid of exercise, looking like a fool, and being the chubby girl in the exercise class who is lost, I can honestly say that I felt not one of those bad feelings. Not only is everyone in the class dripping with sweat (who can judge when sweat is dripping down one's ass?), but the classes I went to all had people who were old, young, skinny, fat, male and female. Everyone was working hard on themselves, not on looking or acting a certain way. Also, the instructors all seem pretty rad. All of the ones I have experienced are helpful, motivating, and non-judgemental. In fact, I did not encounter a single one that was too dippy to trust. A serious bonus in the yoga world. I have heard that yoga instructors at other bikram studios can be harsh about stopping to drink water, resting, etc. At Om on the Range this is not the case. They want you to be comfortable, and really to appreciate the 90 minutes in 105 degrees you are sharing together! My only complaint is more of a personal one... While the $20 first week unlimited is totally rad, it also makes me sad that I cannot afford to go as often as I did that first week. If I could go 4-5 times a week I would, but unfortunately yoga costs $$$... While I do not think Om on the Range is more expensive than any other studio, it still pains me to have to go to other places who have longer first timer deal packages. If I could just afford the unlimited package, my life may be complete... Do not be intimidated by Bikram Yoga at Om on the Range... just don't forget to drink lots of water before you go! read more

Om on the Range, oh how I wanted to fall in love with you. But unfortunately, turns out that I'm just not that into you. I think there are two schools of thought when it comes to yoga. The school that incorporates the traditional poses, life lessons and relaxation. Think zen, fellow Yelpers. Then there is the school of yoga where it's power yoga. In my opinion power yoga uses traditional yoga poses with the goal of burning as much calories as possible. Think, gym group class my fellow Yelpers. And I think different strokes for different folks. I felt that Om on the Range is a studio dedicated to power yoga. I recently took a Vinyasa class here. I truly adore Vinyasa and take it regularly at Yogaview studio. But I bought into the hype of this "hot yoga" madness and decided to give the hot vinyasa at Om a try. Yogaview, I'm so terribly sorry for cheating on you. I will never cheat on you again! As everyone here has said, classes at Om are hot. 95 degree hot for Vinyasa. But I thought, hey maybe the heat helps you get into the poses better, etc. I walked into the class, there are no levels. The class probably had about 30 people in it. The instructor was very nice, encouraging and cheery. However, she didn't demonstrate ANY of the poses. So if you haven't regularly done yoga, I do not recommend Om. You will be lost. Also, it's very much power yoga, where you go through the poses very fast ....multiple times. I couldn't even get in a good mental place as I moved through the poses. Here were my thoughts throughout the class. As you can note, with these thoughts flooding my mind, I couldn't get my zen on! -It is freaking HOT here and I hope I don't pass out! -The guys in front of me that are dripping with sweat are making me want to PUKE. Don't look, don't look, don't look. -Please let the class be over soon. This is worse than being in a gym class. -Where is the peaceful music????(There was no music) I would give my personal experience 1 star, because I truly did not enjoy it one bit. However, I am giving it three stars because I could see why people love this studio. It's clean, staff is nice, and the concept is good for people wanting that kind of a thing. I will be going back to Yogaview in Bucktown. It's a place where the instructors demonstrate the poses. A place where they help you get in a good mental place, where they really physically challenge you, and where you leave with a smile on your face because you loved every single freaking minute of it....even the pain of the difficult poses they guided you into! And the studio always smells good and they always play awesome zen music. read more

My favorite Bikram yoga studio in the city by a mile. When you walk in, you're instantly soothed by the scent of incense and the zen-like surroundings. The instructors are very friendly and actually welcome questions-- no one is rushed, and everyone (including fellow class members) is blissfully mellow. The instructors are well-trained in the Bikram form of yoga and provide a challenging workout, and consistently. I actually walk out feeling better than I did coming in. So, had I never experienced CorePower and known of all the better classes out there, I would probably give this place one star due to disappointment and confusion about hot yoga in general. Let me explain. 1. If you have never done hot yoga, or any yoga for that matter before, you will be lost here. My instructor never explained or demonstrated positions and you're left looking around the room to see what all the advanced yogis are doing. Not good. 2. The classes are PACKED. I'm talking like being way up on the mirror (which is on the side of the class room instead of at the front?) and being all up in my neighbor's butt! And vice versa. Great mental pic. 3. There is no music. It's dead silent. I don't want to hear huffing and puffing and groaning from a bunch of sweaty people. 4. There are no showers and the bathroom is on the second floor. WHAT!??? MAJOR points lost right there. 95 degree classes and bikram and there are no showers? 5. Most people in the classes are advanced and the positions are advanced. Not a balanced group of people, unlike CorePower which has different levels. I got the one week $20 membership pass and probably won't be coming back. Love my CorePower and I promise I won't ever leave again! read more

I went here for three years, every single Sunday, and never had one person help me. I took the beginners' classes, everything. One example: I was doing chaturanga with my elbows all the way out; obviously couldn't make it down into updog. In a vinyasa class, you do this probably 40 times, and over approximately 400 classes (do the math), not one person corrected me, no one noticed I couldn't do it, and that I was doing something as obviously incorrect as that. I thought it was me. Then I moved to India, and realized that they been allowing me to do really basic poses COMPLETELY wrong, so that I could not make progress at all. It was devastating that I wasted all of that time in there trying to be a good student, going every damn week, not understanding, having absolutely no one help me, and then thinking there was something wrong with me. Now I do yoga every day, correctly, and I've made tons of progress with my own practice. They're not student-centered at all, it's more of a product than real yoga, so don't go there unless you really know what you're doing. Also: the owner called me by the wrong name time after time after time, even when I corrected him. Eventually I gave up. read more

I really love this place. I've started doing pretty regular Bikram yoga (with hopes to increase my flexibility and improve my posture before I start training for my second marathon). My initial plan was to test out several of the hot yoga places in the city before settling down in one studio. But after visiting a few others, I quickly made up my mind to stay with Om on the Range ("Om" from here on out). Om instructors provide a very nurturing environment. They pay attention to the individual students and move around the class without being intrusive. They talk a lot (a Bikram trademark), but in comparison to the other studios, they're practically mutes. I feel like they come from a place where less is more. Physically, the space is really nice. The windows face Westward, bringing in a lot of sun and the studio itself is almost all exposed brick and mirrors. The room is smaller and classes were less jammed than the other studio... though they do fill. It's been worth the extra cash for me to come back and pay the monthly rate at Om than to continue at the other studio. Jen in particular is really nice, and Beth and Terry the owners are also very sweet. And Christine is a blast - her classes are fun and she's a hoot. read more

I was a bikram addict last winter but found myself getting bored with the same poses over and over. Enter Baptiste Vinyasa. I've been running for the past 3 years so my upper body strength is limited to me opening a jar of pasta sauce...Vinyasa with its' love of low and side planks has started to strengthen my upper body little by little. This studio is great: hardwood floors, incense to eliminate the sweaty smell, but most importantly, excellent instructors. I have been addicted to the Tuesday 8 pm Vinyasa 75 with Beth and Whitney (2nd teacher, pose adjuster extraordinaire!) I've taken Bikram here in the past, which is a little more friendly than traditional Bikram...the teachers will walk around the room and adjust/assist with your poses as necessary. I've been looking for a Bikram studio that is easy for me to get to right after work, not too touchy feely and an easy commute. Om On the Range works for me! I've studio hopped a bit in my search...Andersonville Bikram (AWESOME, too far for me), Core Power Yoga (too cooperate) 105degrees -(nice but found the studios awkward (?)) and The School of Hot Yoga (too cheesy). Om On the Range is finally a studio I can handle!!! Nice, friendly, down to earth and a little cheaper! I can make it once a week after work...works great as they only offer Bikram later in the eve once a week... makes it easy for me to pick a routine. They don't have showers and the bathroom is on the second floor, but I like that they have changing rooms. The set up works for my plan. Thanks Om, I'll be back! read more

Ever since I moved back to Chicago and stopped taking Bryan Kest Power Yoga in Santa Monica, I felt like there were days I was gonna go postal. Sure his two hour videos I did at home were awesome as well the occasional yoga class I took at Ultimate Fitness in Evanston (see my review if you want the best all around gym, MMA, brazilian jujitsu, boxing, Muay Thai, etc). But it never felt the same--especially when you try doing two hours of DVD Yoga when its -25 outside and your heating system breaks in your house. So I needed to get out of my anti-social Yoga home/sometime gym class and find the real deal but as far as I knew, there weren't too many places in Chicago that could equate a challenging pace so I never bothered looking. So in the last few weeks, I started yoga hopping at the different "schools" and was disappointed after classes. One place, I felt they did 30 minutes of yoga and the rest of the time I was in a 8th grade gymnastics class. Another place felt like the circus meets the movie "The Devil's Rejects" and felt very culty and a bag of ice would have more personality than the teacher. And this week I especially needed a class as I had some serious internal healing I needed to do. And out of luck my friend Nicole said, oh well why don't you check out Om On The Range. Never heard of it-- So i go to their web site and I was very familiar with Baptiste as it similar to Bryan Kest Yoga. So I thought, why not. Plus, I needed some similar training for my 3 hour Bryan Kest Master Class in Madison next week. So I walk in and first thing I notice was the vibe. Stacia (I hope I spelled her name right) signed me in and was very nice. Then I noticed there was a lot of friendly camaraderie going on between the students and good energy, not like a class where every one is an alien and sizing each other up. So I walk in the Yoga room which was heated and I sat in the very back in case I ended up sucking. And I looked around and everyone was pretty normal, guys, girls 20's, 3o's, 40's, Right before the 90 minute class started, Beth, the owner came up to me, introduced herself, asked me if I ever practiced, injuries, and just made a very personal and warm welcome, something I never had ever in any other place. And then the fun began with her fantastic teaching. The pace was awesome, the intensity was amazing, the poses were perfect. Another teacher jeanie (hope I spelled right) was walking around and adjusting people. Half way through when I thought, holy shit this is amazing and I felt like I was gonna have a stroke (in a good way) since it was a little hotter than what I am used to, I got a second wind and finished the class and felt recharged, energized, and grateful I found this place. I felt like I was transported back to Santa Monica, only with way more intensity--sorry Bryan:) The whole thing about Yoga is you are not in competition with everyone, and its not about how flexible you are or strong, but rather using the breath from the poses to revitalize and heal your entire body from head to toe. And if you need to rest, rest. I am hooked. And can honestly say from someone who has been into martial arts, yoga, holistic health, weights, etc, for a really long time, this is THE best yoga place in Chicago and maybe the best one I have ever been too period-- In fact, I am always trying to get my brazilian jujitsu and muay thai and boxing friends to take yoga and tell them its the most complimentary workout for recuperation, joint flexibility, and keeping those man hormones aligned and feeling 17:) I am hooked. I am coming back tomorrow or Saturday--With a quart of coconut juice:) read more

Having been to a number of Bikram Yoga studios in different cities, I can vouch for Beth and Terry's studio with a whole-hearted two thumbs up. The location is great for a city location in terms of parking and the windows to the studio do wonders. Additionally, they spice up their schedule with an array of class offerings and are just great people to boot. Just to show that I'm not totally biased, I do wish the bathrooms were more easily accessible. Anyways, if you haven't tried bikram yoga or any of the classes they offer, this is place to start. Om on the range yoga is, by far, the best yoga studio in the city of Chicago. There are many others that offer loads of classes, teachers come and go and trends drive the studio. Terry and Beth walk the walk an have stayed the course with their teaching, teachers, and message. It is very much a community that you will feel a part of from day one. Consistency is key here, and om on the range has a consistent formula they have been adhering to for many years. You won't regret going to a class at Om. read more

Love it!!!! After many years of reading US Weekly and In Touch I finally decided to pretend that I live in LA and try hot yoga, and now I'm officially addicted. I haven't done an actual Bikram class at Om yet, but I've done several Vinyasa classes in the hot studio and am definitely a fan. Their instructors are really great and friendly and all have their own style (ex. some play music, some like incense) so I recommend trying out a few if you don't happen to care for yours. One thing that I've found that they all have in common is the gentle way they correct your poses. There's no judgey shouting from across the room or basically letting the whole class know that they are pointing out the lame-o in back who just can't get pigeon. They are quiet, kind, and totally willing to offer alternatives if your body doesn't bend that way yet. They are also very encouraging of reverting to child's pose when you need to, or trying a harder pose if you think you're ready. Sorry, if I went on for awhile about this, I guess I'm just very anti- public humiliation along with my meditation. Om has a new student special which is $20 for the first week. I would highly recommend this as hot yoga is not for everyone. They don't give out mats or towels, so make sure you bring your own. You will sweat! Om is no differently priced than any other yoga center in the city, which is not cheap per say ($15/class--normally 90 minutes) but is worth it. Oh yeah, they also let your park your bike right in the lobby:) read more

I recently took a 90 minute Baptiste style yoga class here. I didn't know anything about Baptiste other than it's a hot yoga class, but less hot than Bikram, so I though I'd give it a try. As a first timer at this studio, I was very impressed from the moment I walked in and signed up with a very friendly (staff member?) who subsequently took the class as well. The room we practiced in was large enough to accommodate many of us, but still had a tranquil vibe with light streaming in from outside. The teacher, Terry, was excellent, very encouraging, soothing and challenging at the same time, which is a difficult balance to strike. I really liked his teaching style. We did a mixture of held and flowing poses, including many poses done in the Ashtanga primary series. Unfortunately, for me the heat of the Baptiste class was just too much (thus validating my belief that Bikram, at least 10 degrees hotter than Bapiste is definitely not for me, though I'm sure Bikram himself would dismiss me as a weenie.) I'm the type of person who sweats buckets and slips off the mat in just a regular temperature "power" class. For me an ideal yoga room temperature is warm, but not hot, probably somewhere between 70 and 80 degrees. Alas the world does not cater itself to me specifically :^). About an hour into the class I had a serious headache and felt my breathing was out of control. I slowed down, did some child poses but still felt uncomfortable and went outside of the classroom for about 5 minutes to drink more water and cool off. I came back and finished the class (at that point we were doing seated poses), which I'm glad I did because what's a yoga class without shivasana? I'm sure I got out some toxins but the headache persisted for the rest of day, not anything severe but enough to tell me that that much heat isn't what my body needs, at least at this point in time. I did of course drink a ton of water before and after class as well, as well as foods to replenish my electrolytes. I hope to make it back to try one of the hour long basics classes, because I loved the studio and teaching style and think my body could better handle 60 as opposed to 90 minutes at that temperature. Let me start this review off by saying that I just finished up a class and I am still feeling good on my yoga high. There are so many good things to say about Om. First off, the class sizes are perfect. It being summer break, I can go to a 10am class and there are 10 people there. Evening classes there are more people, but they don't cram you in as other yoga studios I've been to. There is nothing worse than someone breathing and sweating on you. One of my favorite perks of this studio is the class packages don't expire. I can be very ambitious and purchase a 25 pack, and find a new hobby for a year and come back to yoga without having expired classes. Lastly, the teachers are great. They help you get into the right pose and talk you through the class wonderfully. This yoga studio is definitely my go to place. read more

True rating is 4.5 / 5 I just started yoga about a month ago and am really enjoying the challenging classes at Om on the Range. I enjoy all of the teachers that I've had here, but I really enjoy the classes where they play music and only a few of the teachers play the music. The only reason I gave it 4.5 instead of 5 is because i wish all the teachers had music to go along with their classes. All of the instructors are very helpful and if you are doing something incorrectly, they politely come and help you correct your pose. To the person that said the you have to know yoga before because the teachers don't demonstrate the poses, they do have a basics class that is taught. If you are new to this kinda thing, definitely take a basics class. I've taken 2 with Terry and Stacia and they are both great and helpful and give you good tips on how to stay aligned, etc. read more

This studio made me like yoga...at least of the Bikram variety. I had tried a couple of non-hot yoga places before but always got put off by the spiritual hokum and/or sleepy ambiance. Then I stumbled across Om On the Range and after 90 minutes of sweaty agony (my soft face was a pure illusion) and nearly fainting during the Camel Pose (ugh how can something so simple be so horrible), I was converted! The studio is located in a commercial space on the corner of Ravenswood and Grace. It is very clean and inviting and the instructors I have encountered have all been excellent and extremely attentive to inept guy yogis like myself (even when they lock themselves out of the studio). They have a number of classes throughout the day and there are different sign-up options available (i.e. drop-in, series of 10, unlimited attendance etc). There are changing cubicles but no showers; and towels and mats can be rented out for a small fee. Each class always seems to have a good mixture of beginners and gurus and while it certainly gets busier during the peak times, there never seems to be too little space (get there early just in case though as well as to acclimatize). There is definitely a shortage of guys so it would be nice if a few more fellas came along, as I'm getting fed up with being the most inflexible person there! Apart from that take heed of the tips posted on the website - i.e. wear running gear fit for doing a marathon in a rainforest, bring towels, bring a water bottle and if you feel dodgy during the class, don't hesitate to lie down until you feel ready to continue. Anyway if you're looking to add some variety to your fitness regimen or want to improve your flexibility or even just detox, then you should definitely try Bikram here. Om on the Range is the best yoga studio I have ever been to. I mean that. I've been to other Hot Yoga studios with nasty carpet, hot air blowing in my face, and rude teachers. Om is clean and uses some kind of special heat that is not blown out of vents. I have been practicing at Om for 4 years now. Beth and Terry, the married owners of the studio, are 2 of the loveliest people I have ever met. They always make me feel welcome and have made their studio a little community in itself...They have very different, but both great and effective, teaching styles but no matter who teaches (they have a handful of other teachers too) I am always reminded of what a good thing I am doing for body, mind, and spirit...Om is my yoga sanctuary... ~namaste~ read more

beth's class baptiste vinyasa at 830 on thursdays is always a great way to start off your morning. she is attentive, professional and keeps the class engaged. The instructors here are well versed in their poses, flow, vocab and knwoledge of all things yoga. I would say that this is one of the best places to practice yoga. I know I keep updating this review but I just looove this place! Got there today for a Baptiste Power Vinyasa class with Terry (one of the owners); and it was a great experience. For you men out there that may be fearful of taking a yoga class, Terry is a regular guy, who up to several years ago, was a regular businessman from the South side. Beth and Terry decided to open up a studio for all types of people. Today there were twenty somethings and college kids there with their parents who regularly attend the class. It was fun and interesting to see the newbies enjoying the class. I love this studio - I have never had a bad class here; it's always been of an utmost high quality. I love the fact that they have hardwood floors instead of the usual carpet required by Bikram; and that there is incense burning to set the mood at the beginning of class. I love the fact that on the way to the studio, I know that I am absolutely going to get my ass kicked! And I love the feeling that I have when I am done with class. You can tell how happy and mellow everyone is after the class is over. Perhaps if we made the whole world do this class, there would be no more fighting between the Republicans and Democrats. Perhaps . . . we could even solve the problems in the Middle east? Try this class . . . you'll love it - I guarantee! read more

I absolutely love this studio and I've only taken one class so far! I will admit that I have no basis for comparison when it comes to Bikram yoga studios, or any studios for that matter; yes, I'm a gym yoga student .*hangs head in shame* But all of that is changing now that I've been to Om on the Range. I had a great first experience with hot yoga here. OoTR is currently offering an intro class for Baptiste Vinyasa the first Sunday of the month for the next couple of months for new students to learn the basics. While I've taken Vinyasa yoga before, I've never done it in a 95 degree room, so I was a little afraid of what I was getting myself into. Beth, one of the owners, taught the class and she and several assistants made their way around the room during the class to help students with their poses and offer tips on technique. They were very accommodating to newcomers and urged everyone to take Child's Pose if we started to get out of breath or needed a break. After the class, all of the assistants were available for questions and were more than happy to entertain them. So for those with no hot yoga experience, don't be afraid! Try it! You will love it. Yes, you will leave class literally dripping sweat (and I'll admit, ujjayi breathing can get a bit difficult when you're inhaling sweat at the same time), but you'll feel great. Check out their website for tips on Bikram practice (definitely bring towels, both a long one for your mat and a smaller hand towel for your face helps too and plenty of water!). Om on the Range is a great studio with a really helpful, friendly staff and a nice bright, open space. I will definitely be a repeat visitor! read more

I love Om On the Range. I don't flinch when people laugh at the name, because it is such an awesome place is rises above the punny name. The place is incredibly welcoming, the instructors are far above par, the yogis (new and experienced, young and old, fit and fitter) are all respectful and dedicated in their practice. And they've just started adding assistants to some of their Baptiste classes, so there's someone there whose sole job it is is to offer adjustments. So amazing! I LOVE Om on the Range. I used to go to another studio near my house, but when we moved further north, I decided to check out Om. I had wanted more challenging yoga and did I find it--this place is amazing!! I usually do the Vinyasa classes--I don't mind Bikram but I find the repetitive poses boring, and I love flowing. The Vinyasa classes are amazing b/c the room is still hot and you're still really sweaty by the end--my husband always is convinced I went swimming in my clothes, especially in the summertime. The instructors are great and all a little different, but all challenging. Make sure to bring lots and lots of water, and a towel--you will really need it....seriously. read more

I just joined Om on the Range and went to my first class yesterday and can't say anything negative about my experience. Perhaps as I take more classes and experience more instructors my opinion will change, but this yoga studio is as good as it gets. The instructor Liz was really polite and explained everything about the studio to me as soon as I walked in the door. The vinyasa class went at a really good pace and I felt really challenged - even for someone who's been practicing for more than 6 years and has spent time at several studios. Note: the yoga studio is heated and the heat is likely to take your breath away as soon as you step in the door. You will get used to it, but I suggest wearing really light clothes and taking a towel. I was dripping with sweat 15 minutes in, but truly didn't mind because the detox felt so good. If you aren't into heated yoga, this place probably isn't a good fit for you. read more

hands down, the most amazing Yoga Classes I have ever been a part of. Beth is by far, the best Yoga Instructor I have ever worked with. I am not a fan of Bikram but really enjoy the Baptiste Vinyasa classes. I have noticed that some yoga studios can feel like a gossip session prior to beginning class, at OM, it is peace and quiet on the yoga floor. Some hot yoga studios smell of sweat and BO, OM smells of incense. A few things -- *Parking is abundant. *There are no showers at this studio :( :( *In the studio, the closer you are to the windows, the cooler it is. I like to be near the back of the studio to keep as warm and sweaty as possible. *Personally, I wouldn't recommend this place for beginners. If you are new to yoga, try a few not-so-hot, beginners classes before coming to this studio. read more

Feelin' HOT HOT HOT! Ladies and gentleman, this review is being brought to you by the word HOT. As previous reviews have stated, you're not just gonna get a yoga practice outta Om on the Range. You're also going to leave something behind...probably a gallon or two of your sweat! With temperatures set at 95 degrees + the intense body heat from fellow students in the class, you are sure to get a workout...even if it's just from having to wipe your towel across your face 100 times. Hello bicep curls! No in all seriousness, this studio is fantastic. Down to earth, knowledgeable, and humorous, the instructors lead 40+ students through either Baptiste (hot vinyasa-flowing style yoga) or Bikram(static poses yoga) classes for anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. The instructors are some of the best in Chicago; and so are the students. I like that Om on the Range keeps the studio darker than other studios. Usually the lights are turned down low. Also, in some Baptiste classes there is the instructor and also an "adjustment" instructor, someone who goes from person to person adjusting their form. Or just complimenting their form. It's kinda like getting 2 teachers in 1. The students in class range anywhere from first-timers who are fearful of passing out to veteran yogi's who could be on the cover of Yoga Journal. Just another great aspect to Om on the Range....students of different levels are able to practice in the same class. Everyone is really nice at Om, too. I feel like some yoga studios remind me of sororities in college, and this studio certainly isn't one of them. One week unlimited classes is $20 for new students. Do this! Om On the Range Yoga Studio provides the best of the best in all they do. The owners, Terry and Beth are always welcoming, engaging and create an atmosphere that feels as close to home as you can imagine without being in your living room. The studio is clean, roomy and creates a space that allows yogis of all experience levels to feel comfortable and accepted. This coming from a relative newbie to the yoga world. I have taken 10+ classes at Om and always leave class feeling refreshed, invigorated and yet relaxed. Each instructor seems to be better than the one before, directing class in a way that is approachable yet challenging to the entire class. I would wholeheartedly recommend Om On the Range without reservation. The only challenge is that once you experience the energy and vibes of Om, you won't want to practice yoga anywhere else. read more

I really liked this studio. I had never done any type of hot yoga. Wow! It is really hard ... but it feels so great when you are done. You need to be prepared to be VERY uncomfortable for 90 minutes. But I promise you that it is all worth it. I did the one week special for new customers and I managed to attend 5 classes in that week. The instructors are great, the facility is top notch. It can get a bit crowded. Really my only complaint is the cost. I've checked around and it is comparable to other hot yoga in the city. I guess it is just an expensive hobby. If you are a dedicated yogi the cost probably doesn't phase you ... but to me - it's just too much to justify it. I might go back for an occasional workout at some point. But I doubt I'll ever be a regular. Hot yoga is just too cost-prohibitive. read more

I enjoy Om on the Range. I have to confess that I initially hated/avoided it because of its name. Anyway, OOTR as I prefer to call it (pronounced ew-ter) is a truly great yoga studio. I had struggled to find a place in Chicago near my apartment that had hot yoga as opposed to just Bikram. It took me a year to finally make it here, and the first class I went to was the 90 minute Vinyasa. OOTR kicked my butt. It was extremely intense, and OOTR was exactly what I needed to work through some stressful situations. OOTR's Bikram is really good too. I agree with Kimbele who says that they don't do the militante-style of teaching that needs to end immediately. Who wants instructors barking at you while wearing one of those headsets? Not OOTR! Other notes on OOTR: *There are lots of regulars here who fight for validation from the OOTR instructors after class. They'll say things like, "I'm sorry I had to stop several times. I think I still have a head cold." I find it odd b/c I'm thinking, like they care...but this goes to show how attentive the instructors may be to your needs. They probably really do care. *Staff/Instructors are super friendly, welcoming and exactly what you want. *Candlelight yoga is a perfect way to end a hard work week on Friday evenings. *I enjoy the pre-registration. *I enjoy the online paying. Especially because I am usually running here from my apartment because I got stuck in traffic and am late, and I don't feel like dealing with payments. read more

I really liked Om on the Range. Everyone I interacted with was really friendly, and I could tell it was a space where folks were dedicated to their practice. The style is Baptiste Power Vinyasa, which is slightly different than what I had been used to practicing in Michigan but I enjoyed it. The space is great, very open and loft style, exposed brick, large yoga room. The yoga is taught usually without music although some instructors played it towards the end of class. The room was warm, not Bikram-hot, but warm enough to sweat. The flows taught are quick paced, which I liked because I felt like I got a work out, but I normally like time to "flow on my own" or incorporate the postures that I feel like my body needs. Unfortunately, I have not found that style of Vinyasa in Chicago yet. Some Vinyasa classes will let you take a few sun salutations on your own, but overall what I've found here and else where is pretty guided. Maybe its just a Michigan thing, but I miss that bit of freedom in flowing and having the chance to turn inward. What makes me prefer Om over other places that I've tried were the friendly yogis, instructors, and classes that were challenging but relaxing. I also loved that it felt like an authentic yoga studio where people were deeper into their practice, rather than the "trendy gym yoga" type places where its all about the loud pop music and "see and be seen" attitude. Om is authentic, and I wish it were closer to where I lived or I would go more. read more

This is more than a yoga studio- it's a family. I started my yoga journey with Om in 2013 and never looked back. I quickly joined the work study team, cleaning the studio after classes, and got to know the owners and all the teachers. Everyone there will know your name, and you'll always feel welcome. I have to give a huge thank you to Beth and Terry for providing this space for me to learn and grow. And a special thanks to Liz Gill, who asked me when I would become a teacher myself- an idea I originally scoffed at. I'm happy to say I finally completed my YTT this year and am teaching at a studio in Virginia outside D.C.! Even though I've moved away from Chicago, I know Om will always be a place I can come back to. read more

I tried the $20 intro week and absolutely love the classes. I tried both the Bikram and Vinyasa - both are great! The instructors are friendly, understanding and helpful. I can't wait to go back. The only downfall - no showers! Yikes! I did not come prepared for my first class and driving home for 30 min while being completely soaked was not fun. read more

I want to say this place truly is a gem for all the yoga studios out there in Chicago. If you are looking for a true Vinyasa yoga class, come to "Om On the Range." It is definitely challenging but that is what makes this studio and the instructors so unique. I come out of each class feeling even more revitalized than I did before. Be aware that the classes are slightly heated but just enough to get your blood flowing! I would suggest bringing a towel and a water bottle, just in case :) Do yourself a favor and take a class here, you won't regret it! read more
