Ordered a couple pizzas for a group for sustenance during a move. There were a couple of pizza options nearby and Oly's won out because of their pricing. Their 16 inch pizzas are $20-$26 while I feel like a lot of other places are charging $30+. Walking into Oly's, the smell was delicious. Pick up was right on time and the staff was friendly and helpful (such as holding the door open while I carried everything.) I really enjoyed the crust on these pizzas. The flavor of the tater tot pizza was the absolute winner, the other two (Marge and Gilead) were good.

All pizza is one size. 16". Except for gluten free which is 12". Three bases; garlic, pesto and tomato. So , having said that , I chose a tomato base on both of my pies. Pepperoni and a combo. New York style. When I got them home , they did not last past 40 minutes. Gone. Very good pizzas. I will always support local businesses. Small inside. Sodas in fridge and a few beers on tap. They have wi fi , too.

I'm upgrading this place to 5 stars after trying the top ~20 or so rated places in Portland. Best Pesto pizza in town! Also, you can't beat the service or value, especially on the slices! Really friendly and wonderful staff, very friendly neighborhood vibe. I genuinely love coming here even if it's just for a couple slices on my way home.

What a great little shop. I'm so glad we stopped in for a pie today. Not sure if the fella that served us was the owner or not, but he was friendly and pleasant, and made a delicious pizza. The dough on the pizza is incredible, idk how to describe it other than to say it was crisp on the outside and super soft inside, basically perfection. We got the pizza of the moment, not sure there is a name for it, but it was covered in strange deliciousness. Onions, mozzarella, pickled kale, and a garlic oil base -- mmmmm. So weird and so good. The kids got cheese and pepperoni slices because they are all flavor-challenged and stick to the basics instead of exploring all the amazing new flavors in this wild pizza world we live in. Oh! We also got a dry cider that definitely sipped more like a sour beer. Luckily, I like sours so this was good to me. The shop is pretty small, dog friendly but there were no dogs today. There are a few small tables and chairs, but no more than say, 7-8 people can fit inside. I think I read that they have outdoor seating as well but we didn't check it out. I really like this pizza place. The combinations all sound delicious and the fact that we could get a cold alcoholic beverage from the tap was just great! I recommend coming by if you are craving some delicious pizza pie!

Oly's makes a solid Neapolitan pizza with a really good, sturdy crust. I was told about Oly's by my brother and his girlfriend. They've gotten several pizzas from them, and being that she is from Vermont, like the owners, and the fact that they keep going back says something. My brother and I can be quite the pizza snobs. A Jersey thing. So, I went simple and got a roasted garlic pizza. It was well balanced from the cheese, to the crust, to the sauce and the roasted cloves of garlic everywhere. Reminded me a little of the pizza place I grew up with in New Jersey. It was delicious and I will totally make it back there soon. It's kind of nice that so many newer pizza spots are all popping up in Portland with ties to the east coast. Just more reasons to never have to go back east, especially in our current times. Support local. Enjoy.

A cozy spot - with room to sit down and eat, or to pick up something to go

The first time, we had a pepperoni pizza, a side of meatballs, and grape sorbetto. We liked the meatballs so much that, the second time, we had the Alley Kat pizza and, again, the grape sorbetto. The pizzas were both excellent--good crust with a great chew, good proportions for the toppings, and a cheese that tasted like cheese. (reductive? Maybe, but so much mozzarella is bland and rubbery that it seems worth mentioning.) The grape sorbetto was an excellent way to finish the meal both times: sweet, but not too sweet, and very bright to cleanse the palate.

Unfortunately, this was both our first and last visit. I don't think I've ever disliked a pizza before, but this may be the first one I would genuinely call bad. I enjoy wood-fired pizza and don't mind a little char, but somehow this pizza tasted noticeably bitter despite having very little visible charring. Whether it was the lack of sauce, the sauce itself being quite bland, or simply an imbalance of flavors, the end result just wasn't pleasant. The biggest issue is the value. A $25 cheese pizza doesn't need to be life-changing, but it should at least taste better than Costco's. In this case, unfortunately, it didn't. If your goal is to enjoy great pizza, I'd recommend one of the many other pizza spots in the area instead.

It was now happy hour, so I ordered a gluten-free spicy salami pizza. It was one of the best thin crust pizzas I have ever had! I thought about saving some of it for later, but I inhaled the whole thing. The sauce was perfectly proportioned. The spicy salami and cheese blend was incredible. I highly recommend this pizza! The Shaker part of the restaurant name For me, the craft cocktails here are spectacular! There is a half page menu with 9 well thought out drinks. It changes regularly. Is it seasonally? I don't know. There are tasting notes and even the actual recipe for the drink! I've never seen that before. If something doesn't suit your fancy, ask for something off menu. Portland is a tough place for pizzerias since the variety & quality is so good throughout the city…read more But for 25+ (35?) years, this little slice-or-whole-pie place in NW 23rd has churned out the tied-for-best pizza in the city. It's true NY style, thin enough to fold if you're walking, the perfect amount of oily, with only the freshest of mozzarella. Slices are available at the counter (and a few stools if you're just having a quick lunch) all day. For a whole pie, call ahead to schedule (503-22-SLICE has been their number since I moved here decades ago) and they'll give you a time generally 20-35 minutes in the future depending on how busy they are. Staff are just like NYC: no suck-up, extra sarcasm, and if you stand at the register for 5+ minutes fumbling with your wallet, they might make a snide comment. But it's endearing grouchy, not really mean, and it adds to the "flavor" of the whole place. Parking in NW 23 is usually very hard. Since we were going to be sitting at a table outside, I said we were sitting out there and didn't know what that was considered. The guy on the other side of the counter said something like, "You think the city puts those tables there and keeps them clean?" and some other rude remarks. Maybe they are trying to be New Yorkers and play the part? I don't know, I was jut put off by it. I waited for them to heat up the slices and then went outside to eat with my wife. The pizza was just "ok" and nothing like I remember. Between the attitude and the quality of food, we will not be returning.

For example, when the Arugula Salad is made well, it is fantastic. However we have had repeated experiences where the greens are not fresh, or the dressing is forgotten, or there is no cheese. We have had repeated issues specifically with takeout orders, over many years. Additionally, if you dine-in, there is an entire bottle of oil on the table that you are encouraged to use on your pizza. It is delicious, and really completes the pizza flavor profile! They used to automatically include two small containers of oil per pizza if you ordered to-go. Current policy appears to be to not include any oil with the pizza (unless explicitly asked) and to only provide a maximum of two oils (even if multiple pizzas are ordered). I don't know if there is an oil shortage or what, but this is silly for a place that charges so much for their pizza. Life of Pie is a typical Portland restaurant that expects you to tip before you receive your food (and also expects you to bus your own table). To me, this expectation alongside with the inconsistency of the food for the price, is disappointing, and does not encourage people to go out of their way to return. When the food is good it is a solid place, however I would expect much more consistency for the price they command.
