I have to completely agree with another rating...Jeremy and Michelle make you feel like family from the start. It's people like them that make me love the South Bay. I had heard so many great things about Michelle's SUP Yoga classes but was too afraid to try. I finally emailed her and was completely put at ease, she is fantastic. I took a Basic Skills SUP class first just to get my feet wet...literally. With the great coaching of Michelle and Jeremy (you could tell they are both meant to be in the water), I was up and paddling within minutes. I've taken the SUP classes and the SUP Yoga classes, both are great. The SUP classes are great because it's a chance for me to get out, meet some really friendly people, and enjoy where I live. The Yoga classes are great because it is so nice to be doing yoga outside of a studio, in nature...and next to sea lions. (and as a side note- I wear my HR monitor...the calorie burn is amazing). read more

Their prices are super competitive, the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.They have a wide selection of gear and lift tickets to various mountains. Jeremy & Taco are exceedingly knowledgeable about their craft, down to earth, easy to talk to, and spot on with their recommendations. First came to Olympus earlier this year looking to rent some gear for the snowboard season after moving from Sonoma County. Asked for some pointers on types of boards, bindings, foot placement, etc and what technology they knew about. Recommended to bring my board in, I ablidged and found my foot placement was promoting more fatigue during days of hard riding (giggidy). Additionally the size of the snowboard was brought to my attention as that was prohibiting agility in my turns. Following Olympus Board Shop on Facebook let me know when the fellas from Never Summer were in town for a free snowboard give away and also when Olympus runs their promos. A must go! They go Above and beyond to make sure you leave more than satisfied even if you just go ask questions. Went in to buy a stomp pad and came out with a rental for my gf and my board got readjusted to a better stance. All the guys there are friendly. Bryan helped us out. This place is a small spot with a big personality! I came here initially to just try on snowboarding boots and find out my size. No plans or whatever or buying anything. I was just there for browsing purposes only. But I came out with a new pair of boots, rented snowboard and bindings, and plans to come back and buy a snowboard. The owner, Jeremy, knows his stuff! I'm a beginner at snowboarding and he was (very) patient in explaining to me the different brands, quality, and pricing. So I ended up buying a high quality but reasonably priced boots. Plus he helped me out with my snowboard and bindings. He was not quick to sell me any of the new boards, but he gave me useful information on when i decide to buy one. When i came back to buy a board and binding, Bryan helped me out. He was attentive, friendly, and very informative as well. Overall, this place does not pressure you or make you feel stupid in buying any of your gear. Wow! These guys are fantastic! For such a small shop, they have about as much experience and good salesmanship as you can get anywhere - enough to fill 4 of their shops. We went on a Sunday to look at snowboards, and I received amazing service. They were all very attentive and considerate even considering that I am a 49 year old, overweight female, looking to get back into it after many years away (see 'overweight' above) and a major knee surgery that hobbled me for a while. Jeremy ended up helping me and never once talked down to me, although I was probably the last person he would have expected to see in his shop full of athletic, able-bodied people. He talked my ear off about technology and where things have come since I was consistently on a board (ahem) 20 years ago or so. He put me on a Never Summer board that turned out to be the absolute BEST ride EVER, because he actually listened to me. I have never had a salesman be so attentive and really understand what I was looking for like that...EVEN with the sh-tty bindings (I purchased someplace else prior to getting here, and oh, by the way, he was right about...). If I had known about this place before I bought those ----ing bindings, I would have come here. I will trust them for any and all my snowboard requirements from here on out. AWESOME! One last note: they were busy as you can possibly imagine, but somehow, even though each employee was juggling at least 3+ people at once, I don't think anyone felt like they were being neglected. Olympus is a fantastic board shop in a city (greater LA area) that has very few quality places to shop for snowboarding gear. I just purchased a NS West with Union Force bindings after Demoing the West all weekend in Mammoth. I wont quote the pricing on here but I will say this, they have competitive pricing and are willing to knock off a buck here or there depending on the equipment you are purchasing. I have no doubt I saved a few $ by purchasing local. I was about to pull the trigger before heading to mammoth but was a bit unsure on the size I wanted to go with. Jeremy set me up with a demo rental package which was applicable towards the purchase price if I decided to buy when I returned. Jeremy actually recommended a cheaper binding option than one I was looking at because he truly wanted the best set up given my riding characteristics, aka, they DON'T up-sell you and they really just want you to get the best equipment given your ability and riding preference. I recommend this board shop for anyone in the south bay looking to purchase, rent, or is simply looking for a quick tune up. Get out and support your local small businesses! Side note: they are severely understaffed at peak hours and it seems many of the employees get overwhelmed. read more

I was looking for a new place to get my snowboard waxed since Sport Chalet and Sports Authority closed. Decided to check this place out because I actually enjoy visiting smaller businesses. It only cost me $10 to have my board hand waxed and the turnaround time is only one day! The guys here are very knowledgeable and answer any questions you have. They seem very genuine (unlike people at bugger businesses that are just trying to meet their sales quotas). I've been looking into purchasing a new board as well and was finally able to ask someone the questions I had. Olympus had a great selection of boards and they carry products they feel are best. The next time I go back, I plan to try out a different board (which they let you do prior to buying) and hopefully will purchase my next snowboard from them. You guys rock ! read more

Terrible customer service, pretty much insulting! My boyfriend and I came in on a Monday afternoon looking to buy some boots and bindings for a secondhand board we bought at Play It Again down the street. The owner discouraged us from the start, saying the board is so old that we wouldn't be able to find any bindings to go with it. We then asked if he had any used boards we could buy and he flat out said he wouldn't be making much by selling us a used board and that it would be a waste of his time to even bring them out to us. What a jerk! On top of that, we were first in line and he kept tending to people who arrived after us for board rentals, and he kept pushing us to the back of the line. Selling us a used board with NEW boots and bindings is much more of a profit than a $30 snowboard rental, don't you think?! This guy has definitely got his priorities and business tactics all wrong! We drove down to ET Surf and the guys over there were able to quickly accommodate us, even with our outdated Burton board. We ended up spending over $500 at ET. This guy at Olympus took a big L on a good sell. Keep pushing out your $30 board rentals buddy! read more

First impressions while at Olympus was not too bad they sized me up for the rentals everything was good then I needed to buy some stuff from inside but instead of being helped I was kicked out to wait because there were other customers who showed up after me but said they were going to buy more expensive items. so I was getting a little irritated was even going to leave and go to a different store but decided to give them another try ( which I shouldn't have) I end up getting inside after 20 mins. I buy the items and rentals but wasn't really told anything about the rental policy just a "fill this out" I wasn't thinking about it at the time. So after my trip the next day I go to return the rentals and they said they charged me a late fee which I had no idea about and did not even offer to help. There were other people there with the same issue they didn't tell them about the deadline and were charged a 43$ late fee it's ridiculous. I would not recommend anyone of my friends or family to rent from them. read more

Wanted to try SUP in Redondo, Hermosa area and called around a few places but no one would accomodate my wimpiness and provide me a wetsuit. I continued to google and finally came across Olympus. Jeremy is awesome. I had the best time and his rates are better than everyone else in the area and he gives you real instructions on how to handle different situations. Like being bit by a shark.....JUST KIDDING! Relax, there's no sharks....I hope... Anyway, we wanted to go out into open water, so he took us out. BTW/He did provide me a wetsuit. I was padding one day in pretty rough and choppy waters, after word the hammerheads were in town. Sure enough I see a dude paddling out, as it was getting choppier and all minced up like the juice tiger on roids, not to mention his daughter sitting on the front end of the board, first to ring the tsunami bell. Needless to say the dreams over, and it was Jeremy, 2 time, or was it 3? rock 2 rock top 5 finishers. The guys a human water tractor, or tug boat, but I like the sound of tractor more, so thats what he is. He's a straight shooter, and will never ever steer you wrong.
