Wow....I have never tried Olympos before but I'm hooked! Greek salad was amazing and fresh and the spinach pie was TO DIE FOR!

Olympos is your typical family owned/run bakery. they specialize in pastries, greet pastries as well as hot and cold cut subs. it's small and quaint, seats about 6-7 people along a bar facing broadway street, not the best view but hey, it could be worse. the good: the subs are of pretty good portions.. i pride myself in being able to put down some serious food. i'm usually content when i'm finished with their subs. the steak and cheese is par and the hot pastrami is slightly above par. my own gripe is that the past two times i've ordered they didn't put the fixings i wanted on it.. i'm not sure why.. maybe they have something against hots, lettuce and tomato on a hot pastrami sandwich. the bad: the pastries are nothing special, the chocolate items are just super sweet and not very rich. nothing is really fresh. all/most of the pastries are stored in a glass case that is chilled.. when you get something it's usually cold. not a fan of cold chocolate, if i wanted ice cream, i would get ice cream. if you're looking for a decent sub while you wait for your tailoring across the street from george then it's not a bad stop, crow's fly it's probably the best sub shop from my work for hot subs, but i can't see myself going out of the way or rave about this place to anyone.. read more

Great subs! Huge and fresh. German chocolate cake, cheesecake, lobster tails were all good. Not too sweet and tasted good quality ingredients. Could easily spend over $100 for subs and treats for family of four. Dangerous place! Parking could be difficult.... Great place! read more

Service was prompt and friendly, and the baked good are excellent! We tried breads and a whole bunch of cookies and pastries. Didn't try the sandwiches or anything else, but looking forward to doing that another time. A really delicious-looking display made it difficult to choose. Server was very patient. Everything we picked was wonderful. Very impressed! read more

Greek bakery that has been around forever. They serve sandwiches too but I've never tried those. I'd assume they were quality just like the baked goods. read more

Oh my, life-long Lowell resident. Came here for the first time. Outstanding! Great value, great food.

Best spinach pie ever, good portion too! Staff is always so friendly and nice. Love coming here!

The food here is really good. The breads are fresh and the pasteries yummy. However the service and delivery is horrible. I have been in there to get food and waited 30 minutes for a sandwich to be made. Also I have ordered from them twice. The first time deliver took over an hour. Most recently delivery took almost 2 hours! The driver said he stuck in funeral procession. I appreciate that he was stuck (they are only .5 miles from my office) but 2 hours??? Even if he was stuck for 20 minutes that mean it took over an hour and a half to make the food and send for delivery. Do not order from here if you are hungry or on a time table. read more

I've been here only a couple of times and never had an issue. I mainly come for the pastries. Today though for some reason there was a really rude front lady. I was browsing the menu and was looking at the far left menu where they had the pastries pricing. She called over to me and said, "Hun, we don't have anymore food." I politely smiled and said, "Oh that's okay, I'm here for the pastries anyway. Thanks." She then murmured, "Okay, I didn't know." She said it in a manner as if I had snapped at her with my response. Whatever. I continued to browse the pastries and ordered 2 eclairs, a lobster tail, and a cherry cream puff. I smiled and thanked her after she rang me up. When I asked if there was a menu I could take, she kinda just tossed one at me. When I got home and opened the box, I found that the lobster tail was almost broken and the cherry cream puff on its side. The box was pretty snug and I handled it with care. There was no way the pastries could have shifted. I'm pretty upset with my experience today. It's too bad because I really like their pastries. I'll try not to let this time stop me from going there again. But customer service is important to me. Be polite and take care of your work. read more

Olympos Bakery - I'm upset about how this lady packaged my order. Luckily this wasn't a gift, because I would have gone back in to get a new box. - Bakeries Near Me - Lowell, Massachusetts

Great place to get a treat after visiting Lowell National Historic Park. We stopped in for lunch. The meatball sandwich was awesome, but the Oreo cake was really really awesome. read more

First trip to this bakery and they had me at the wedding cookies BUT the service was not friendly. My friend had informed the woman behind the counter that it was our first time there and asked for an overview of what was in the cases. The woman behind the counter didn't seem to happy to have first time customers walk through her door and rattled off some things in the tray. When my friend asked what she could suggest the woman just gave her a blank stare and just kind of shrugged her shoulders. It felt like she was perturbed by us. Regardless, I was very happy with the cookies I purchased and would go again. read more

Haven't been back to this bakery in almost 30 years (I don't live close enough to conveniently visit.) I remember it very fondly, and when I was recently there last week, was not disappointed. The carrot cake, eclairs, and turnovers were great. I had 2 slices of plain pizza (square in shape) which were very good. The pizza sauce was robust and tasty. It's like beach pizza on steroids! Their bread products are also fresh and tasty. Olympos Bakery is one of my favorites in the area. [It definately beats Mirabellas Bakery in Tewksbury hands down.] read more

Cash only bakery, which is a why I gave it 4 stars. Has two full glass cases full of fresh bakery items. I have the chocolate and caramel with coconut flakes cake and it was amazing! read more

A relic from a bygone era, when Greek immigrants lived all over Lowell. Our churches are still scattered in the city, mostly in the Acre, but the Greeks have long since left Lowell for the suburbs. Olympos and the churches are really almost all that's left of what was once a huge Greek population in Lowell--especially in the first half of the 20th century. They've been one of the last, if not only, places in the area where Greek diaspora can get real red egg dye for Easter and the special sweet breads for holidays. They also have tons of Greek foods as well as pastries, which everybody loves. Pites, baklava, galaktoboureko, koulourakia, macarona, kadaifi -- all that delicious stuff you eat at Greek festivals, whose name you forgot but flavor you remember, they have it here. So if you forgot what that delicious cream-custard pastry was called (galaktoboureko), you can go in here, point at it and voila, it's yours. read more

I love this place! The pastries are delicious and the bread is outstanding. The workers are always nice and it's very clean and well kept inside. I go to UMass and I live on campus but I find myself leaving campus every once in a while to get a pastry at Olympos since it is such a cozy place with yummy treats. read more

Came after closing and they opened up for me and the next customer that came in as I was leaving. Good pastries. Canoli are only prepared when ordered. Italian and Greek goodies. A good place to visit if you are in town. read more

I have been going to this bakery for 6 years now. I am obsessed with the Greek salad with chicken. The feta is amazing and I also love the bread that it comes with to make little sandwiches with. The Lobster tails and Strawberry Cheesecake is a must to get for a treat. THE BEST AROUND!!!!! The workers are also pretty great. Always greeted with smiles and very quick with service. You won't be dissappointed. read more

I've been to Olympus Bakery many times and I'm never disappointed! We picked up a few trays of deserts and cookies for an event at work and the staff was SO easy to work with and very friendly. I've also ordered a Calzone to go and it was huge and delicious (it can easily feed 2 people) and I can't forget to mention the m and m brownie I had recently which was great! Great food and service! read more

I have been here a few times and the lobster tails are very tasty. The staff is friendly and good pastries. Short walk from downtown Lowell.

After reading all the rave reviews, I drove an hour from work to this bakery. I was under-impressed with the initial appearance, but I know from experience that appearances can be deceiving. I was ignored by the several employees in the rear, who could see me but continued conversing amongst themselves while I waited. Finally, a younger woman appeared and I ordered a couple of spinach pies, a ring shaped loaf of freshly baked bread, lobster tails, and baklava. My order came to well over thirty dollars. On the drive home, I removed one of the spinach pies from its box to eat, and to my disappointment found it to be ice cold (as in recently removed from a fridge or freezer). The outer phyllo was also soggy. I figured I'd try heating it at home later, and grabbed one of the lobster tails. Same deal: stale, limp pastry, cold, hard filling that I could barely bite into. By this time, I was getting pretty peeved, since I had asked the saleswoman if everything I ordered was freshly made, and she had assured me it was. A blatant lie. At home later, I opened the box containing 8 pieces of baklava ... it looked like it had melted. The pastry was soggy and dripping, swimming in a liquid which turned out to be a combination of the honey syrup and water which had melted - The pastry had obviously been kept in a freezer and was NOT fresh - as I had been told. It was absolutely disgusting, falling apart and inedible. The bread which had looked fantastic was completely tasteless, and the texture was not at all enjoyable. Ultimately, we ended up throwing that away as well. I guess I have made it pretty clear what a rip off all of the things I bought were, how deceived I felt, and for the life of me I do not understand these rave reviews (although I see they are mostly for non- bakery items). I strongly advise anyone considering buying baked goods here to go elsewhere. I will never, ever return; and I am still furious about the loss of my hard-earned money! read more

Chocolate cannoli is fantastic. Strawberry eclairs are light and delicious. Finikia cookies are a real treat. Spinach pie is great too. This is a family-run bakery and everyone works incredibly hard to put out a quality product. Love this place and will be back until I have tried everything at least once.....then I will start again at the beginning! read more

What a great little neighborhood restaurant, bakery and pizzeria. My daughter and I were there on a Monday and I went back in on a Wednesday and she instantly recognized me and engaged into a conversation about whether her food and baked goods lived up to our expectations. If you want my honest opinion, if you want incredible Greek food in northern Massachusetts, Lowell is the place. More specifically, Olympos Bakery is the place, at least for pastries and similar things. Their menu is not extravagantly large but it doesn't have to be, because... Just looking at the menu you'll think you somehow teleported into Bargaintown, USA and it'll be reinforced by the portion and quality you get. Sandwiches with a sheer volume that would cost you something like $10 elsewhere are closer to 5 and the spanikopita... oh man... that deserves its own paragraph. Their spanikopita is hands down the best I've ever had. The filo is flaky, buttery, crispy, and somehow light at the same time and the filling... it's an elegant wonder of the culinary world in its simplicity. As near as I can tell it's pretty much just spinach and feta, maybe some things like salt and pepper but they let the ingredients shine. It's like a flippin' star going nova before it dies. But in your mouth. And with flavor instead of... y'know... giant fusion explosions of death. Oh, and you know that cartoon crunch sound? The one you never expected to hear in the real world? Cutting into that golden pocket of deliciousness is as close as you'll come. You'll walk out and want to turn around and order another one. Don't bother though... get a piece of baklava and a cup of coffee instead. My favorite version of my favorite pastry by a parsec and one of the best drip brewed coffees I've ever had. Be aware though, they do have a $10 minimum on credit cards right now... read more

Olympo's bakery is worthy of your time and bucks. The baked goods are baked on site and not shipped in pre-frozen and "baked off" like plenty of other places. The sandwiches are a solid, wieghty affair. The bread varieties can bea real game changer from sandwich to sandwich. I am personally partial to the mega toast. The wait staff are...waitstaff. If they are having a good day they are a good time, if they are indifferent its no different than being in any chain restaurant, and if they are busy or arguing a bit, then I order what i want, give them my money and get out of the way. If you're from Lowell and aren't a whiner, this should be standard operating procedure already. If you are from Lowell, heads up, they are Greek, get with the program, everything will be fine. The turn around for food isn't instantaneous, but its pretty quick. Like "grab a bite before meeting up with friends/go to the movies/etc." kind of quick. if you are getting antsy anyway, order something from the pastry counter to hold you over and know that your friends and family probably think you are high maintenance. read more

As a local letter carrier I enjoy stopping in at Olympos Bakery for a quick snack 2 or 3 times a week. I love the spinach pie, it's wrapped in filo dough instead of sliced which is perfect for an on-the-go meal. Every pastry and treat is fresh and I have LOVED everything I tried so far, especially the chocolate chip cannoli! The only complaint I have is a very rude experience with one of the employees over a cheesecake I had purchased on Christmas eve. The employee told me I was rude and handed the phone to her manager, neither one of them apologized for the inconvenience and both women had an unappreciated tone and used sarcastic and insincere "customer service" replies. I ended up paying $30 for the cake and even tipped them $5 just because. This is a great place to go for quick and tasty food, but If you expect any sort of gratitude or respect.. Don't get your hopes up! read more

I have been to Olympos a couple of times before and when our NH Greek bakery closed I immediately thought of this place. I was looking for a couple of dozen of Kourabiedes for a party and the very friendly woman behind the counter accommodated me immediately by putting them in paper pastry cups and arranging them nicely on a tray. What an easy way to help me out as I had a list a mile long to finish before my party tomorrow. Although I am a fool for Greek pastry I controlled myself and came away with only a half dozen Kourlakia, another favorite of mine. My friend, however, did his own damage with a sampling of his favorites. In addition to the array of pastries, they seem to have wonderful sandwiches, egg lemon soup, pizza by the slice and other goodies. The last time I was in a few months ago I bought an Italian sandwich which I split and was enough for lunch for both of us. Prices reasonable, people lovely and food delish. Can't ask for much more. Just wish I was better acquainted with Lowell so I could get there more easily without getting honked at all the time!! read more

I'm a recent resident of Lowell and this is now my 'go to place' for bakery and sandwiches. I was reluctant to order the pizza, thinking 'heavy greek oiled pan pizza' but someone else was there eating a slice and I realized it is 'beach pizza' square pan, thin crust, slightly sweet sauce and cheese. heaven! This place is great. Reminds me of an old school neighborhood bakery. Great prices too. The calzones are amazing here. I would give Olympos a 5 star rating except for this one lady who I believe owns the store. The other people who work there are awesome, very personable and helpful. Always very friendly. The woman who I believe owns the place is always VERY rude. I thought maybe it was just me, but my gf and her friend went in, and she was very rude to them also. This place is that good though, I will overlook her rudeness and probably always go here. read more
